“To be honest, I don’t know why this is a story. But, yeah, I can’t palm a ball.” said Kevin Durant to Darnell Mayberry of?the Oklahoman?after looking at the picture above during training camp?and explaining that the ball was flat.

Since Mayberry tweeted that he learned KD?couldn't palm a ball after the first media day, people have been Googling every pic they could find of KD holding a ball so they could prove that he was lying.

“No, I can’t,” Durant, with a slight chuckle, again admitted. “I can’t. It’s nothing I can control. You know?”

He chuckled again.

“I don’t know what else to say,” he added.

Although it's rare to hear about a player at his height, that throws down lots of dunks, not being able to palm a ball, there's actually been quite a few NBA players who have said they can't either. Charles Barkley, a league leader in dunks for a couple of seasons, couldn't palm a ball. But, he also rarely dunked with one hand. Former dunk contest champion Josh Smith supposedly couldn't palm a ball either and he does dunk a lot with one hand -- like KD.

I hate to turn this into a KD/MJ comparison but since we are on the topic of being able to palm a basketball, nobody, Dr J included, was better at palming a ball to fake out or tease opponents than Jordan. He was so famous for palming a ball that he even played a game of "Can Michael Jordan palm it" on Jimmy Kimmel.
