]]>
The Pangos Fantastic 40 is back. After a three year hiatus, director Dinos Trigonis brought the event back to Miami for the first time since the spring of 2021. Held at Gibson Park in the heart of Overtown, the 2024 Pangos Fantastic 40 brought programs from the Nike EYBL, adidas 3SSB, Under Armour Association, and New Balance circuits along with many top independent squads from all over the country. Blending the allure of Miami with some high level hoops, the Fantastic 40 reminded everyone in attendance that independent AAU tournaments still have a key spot in today’s sneaker driven grassroots ecosystem.

With teams ranging from 15U through 17U, there were standouts at every division, but here are six players who caught our eye as top performers at the event:

Meleek Thomas, 6’5, SG, New Heights Lightning 17U, 2025
As far as the top player in The Fantastic 40 was concerned, the conversation starts and ends with Meleek Thomas. The Pittsburgh product was absolutely electric, scoring the rock without forcing the issue, showing what he could do with limited bounces en route to an undefeated weekend for the EYBL program. Meleek was an absurd shot creator off of a live dribble, was creative finishing at the rack, and did his best KD/Dirk impression with countless one legged fadeaway jumpers. Already signed to an NIL deal with Roc Nation, Thomas left no doubt in anyone’s mind that he’s a top five player in the class of 2025 nationally.

Cayden Daughtry, 6’0, PG, Florida Rebels 15U, 2027
In the 2027 class, there wasn’t a player at the Pangos Fantastic 40 who was a more confident scorer than Cayden Daughtry. Having put up monstrous stats on the varsity level dating back to his middle school years, Daughtry exudes supreme scoring ability when playing his age group against his peers. He is an electric 3-point shooter, is patient weaving in and out of the lane, and isn’t afraid of contact despite his slender frame. Daughtry holds a number of D1 offers and brings that killer mentality every time he steps on the hardwood.

Jaion Pitt, 6’8, PF, Arizona Unity 17U, 2025
Blending potential with a massive amount of production, Jaion Pitt was the most productive front court player in the 17U division of the Fantastic 40. The Canadian is a beast rebounding on both ends, is an outstanding cutter, and showed surprising vision passing out of double teams or finding teammates in the dunker. Pitt is extending his range beyond the 3-point line and as he continues to gain consistency stretching the defense, his ranking should trend upwards.

Felipe Quinones, 6’5, SG, Jet Academy 16U, 2026
Next in line out of Puerto Rico, Felipe Quinones lived up to his billing at The Fantastic 40. Owning a prototypical build for a two guard, the sophomore showed off a reliable 3-point shot, impacted the game defensively with his length, and has a massive amount of confidence when he has the ball in his hands. Felipe showed everyone in attendance at Gibson Park that he has the makings of a high major guard and will be learning from a good one in Kenny Smith at Jet Academy.

Gustavo Guimaraes, 6’11, C, All Ball 17U, 2025
One of the bigger surprises of the event, both literally and figuratively, was near 7-footer Gustavo Guimaraes of All Ball. The Riviera Prep (FL) big is fresh off a state title, is quite agile running the floor, and looks to finish above the rim at every available opportunity. There is still plenty of room for growth for Gustavo, but between his play with All Ball and with the Brazil 17U team, expect to hear plenty more from him sooner rather than later.

Darius Wabbington, 6’10, C, Arizona Unity 15U, 2027
There wasn’t a single big in the 15U bracket who could come close to stopping Sunnyslope (AZ) product Darrius Wabbington on the block throughout the Fantastic 40. The Arizona big looks for contact, showed off intriguing footwork on the block, and was incredibly confident scoring the ball. Patterning his game after Nikola Jokic, Darius also stepped out to hit a few threes on the weekend, leaving no doubt in anyone’s mind why he’s right there at the top of a very special Arizona 2027 class.

The post Grind Session World Championships: Top Stock Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The ‘23-24 Grind Session Power Conference season has come to an end, and it comes with a well-known name in the world of prep school basketball at the top: Prolific Prep. The Napa, Calif. power ran the table throughout the season and defeated Dream City Christian (Glendale, Ariz.), 84-74, at Chicago’s Malcolm X College on March 17 to be crowned the Grind Session World Champions for the second consecutive season.

The two wins in Chicago put The Crew's record at 33-5, but their season isn’t over just yet.

Sitting at No. 6 in the latest FAB 50 National Team Rankings powered by www.ebooksnet.com, the Prolific Prep Crew is Indianapolis bound for the Chipotle High School Nationals (April 4-6), where they’ll be matched up against FAB 50 No. 11 Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) in the opening round. While many are already looking forward to that, let’s focus on the players who caught our eye and enhanced their recruiting stock at the event.

Here are the top stock risers from the Grind Session World Championship Final Four:

Mikey Lewis, 6’3, PG/SG, Prolific Prep (CA), 2024
Playing for one of the more loaded teams in the country, no one is going to be putting up video game numbers and everyone has to find their role on the hardwood. After dropping monster numbers last year with both Accelerated Prep (CO) and with the Oakland Soldiers in the EYBL, many wondered how Mikey Lewis would adjust to playing with so much talent at Prolific, but he has completely let the game come to him. The combo guard played outstanding on ball defense, created his own shot late in the shot clock, and let the game come to him without forcing the issue. Mikey is the key piece in an outstanding St. Mary’s recruiting class that will place them amongst the elite in the WCC yet again.

Savo Drezgic, 6’3, PG, DME Academy (FL), 2025
A highly touted European prospect, Savo Drezgic made the move from Serbia to Daytona Beach, Fla., to play his junior year at DME Academy. The lead guard had a heralded overseas career, playing with the Serbian National Team, at Basketball Without Borders events, and at the Adidas Next Generation Tournament with Partizan Belgrade. Savo possesses no shortage of flare on the court, has deep 3-point range, and has SportsCenter Top 10 passing ability. Drezgic is still getting acclimated to things here in the U.S., but should ultimately find himself with at least a Top 50 national ranking when it’s all said and done, which may be a bit on the conservative side.

Alejandro Aviles, 6’9, PF/C, Dream City Christian (CA), 2025
While there are definitely players who are more flashy in the Grind Session, there aren’t many junior bigs who were more productive than Alejandro Aviles. In his two games in Chicago, he posted 24 points, 14 rebounds in a win against DME and was a playmaker from the post with 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists against eventual champion Prolific Prep. The Puerto Rican junior can punish you on the low block, has range to the 3-point line (hit two 3-pointers in each game), and has the ability to hit cutters from the post. Having already established quite the reputation in Puerto Rico playing with their 18U team, he is beginning to do the same with Dream City here in the States.

Ifaola “Tacko” Fawaz, 6’11, C, Dream City Christian (AZ), 2025
Like many on this list, the impact that Tacko Fawaz has on the floor extends far beyond the box score. The junior big man is outstanding running the floor, is a constant lob threat, and walls up against anyone attacking the paint defensively as a rim protector. Fawaz ultimately finished with six points and six rebounds against national power Prolific Prep, but certainly made everyone think twice about challenging him at the rack. The junior already holds no shortage of offers from high major programs and will be running on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit with the Utah Prospects this spring.

Cory Connor, 6’2, PG, Prolific Prep (CA), 2024
One of the glue guys for Prolific Prep, Cory Connor brings the versatility and intangibles that don't show up in the box score. The Seattle native excelled guarding both backcourt spots, was a reliable 3-point shooter when left open, and had no problem finishing through contact on straight line attacks to the rim. Connor is still wide open with his recruitment and will be an interesting name to follow with Prolific Prep when it heads to Chipotle Nationals (April 4-6).

The 2023-24 high school season in Minnesota has officially come to its conclusion. Finishing the year later than most states in the country, the Land of 10,000 Lakes holds a four day state tournament that offers eight teams in each bracket with consolation play, providing a great evaluation opportunity for scouts, coaches, and fans alike.

Cherry (Junction, Minn.) cruised to the MSHSL state title in Class A (Minnesota’s smallest division), led by the Asuma family. Isaac is heading to the University of Minnesota, Noah (2026) is an elite baseball prospect who also has the ability to play college basketball, and Isaiah (2027) is next in line, but is already playing his third year of varsity basketball. The township of less than 1,000 people cruised to a 78-40 win over Fertile-Beltrami (Fertile, Minn.) to take home their first state title.

The Breck School (Golden Valley, Minn.) is another first time winner of their first state tournament in the state’s AA division. Coached by Tyus Jones’ high school teammate and former Howard Pulley AAU coach Harry Sonie, Breck was paced by Wisconsin-bound playmaker Daniel Freitag, who used his energy and leadership to push his teammates on both ends. The alma mater of Memphis Grizzlies forward David Roddy, Breck ultimately topped Lake City (Minn.), 76-72, to take home the crown.

The most talented team in the state from top to bottom, Totino-Grace (Fridley, Minn.) took home their third consecutive AAA state title, topping Mankato East (Mankato, Minn.), 73-64. Coach Nick Carroll has a squad that has been building over the years and keeps reloading, sporting a roster that will likely have eight eventual D-1 players by the time that it is all said and done. Losing a minimal amount of seniors from this year’s team, T-G will be the early favorites to hit a 4-peat next season.

In the biggest upset of the day, Minnetonka (Minn.) upset FAB 50 No. 36 Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.), 72-61, to take home the AAAA title, Minnesota’s largest division. Coach Bryce Tesdahl had an upperclassmen-laden squad that played with grit on both ends, unselfishness, and extreme continuity in what was an absolutely electric final game that wrapped up Minnesota’s 2023-24 high school season.

Here are a few of the top performers from the 2024 MSHSL State Tournament:

Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, 6’7, SF/PF, Totino-Grace HS (MN), 2024
Changing his role throughout the season, Johnson-Arigu became the facilitator for Totino-Grace as a 6-foot-7 point forward and yet another state title followed. Posting averages of 26.5 points, 13 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks in the Final Four, Isaiah showed the immense versatility and improvement that he’s made to develop into a high major prospect. After transferring from Osseo as a sophomore, Johnson-Arigu completed the journey of winning back-to-back state titles to finish his high school career and begin his next chapter at Miami in the ACC.

Daniel Freitag, 6’3, PG, Breck School (MN), 2024
Minnesota’s top wide receiver on the gridiron, Freitag opted to hang up his cleats during his senior year, but still brings that football toughness to the basketball court. After playing varsity for four years at Bloomington Jefferson HS (he played as an eighth grader), Freitag flirted with transferring to So Cal Academy for his senior year before opting to stay at home and make history at the Breck School with a first state championship for the program. The sturdy guard was ridiculous finishing through contact at the rack, provided an outstanding presence on the glass from the backcourt, and offered his patented lockdown defense on the perimeter. The future Wisconsin Badger capped his high school career with 33 points, eight rebounds, and five steals in Breck’s four point victory over Lake City.

Andy Stefonowicz, 6’1, PG, Minnetonka HS (MN), 2024
One of the state’s more crafty players, Stefonowicz showed how much he could impact the game with things that don’t show up in the box score. An incredibly heady lead guard, Stefonowicz showed immense patience and poise en route to his 19-0point, 8-rebound, 5-assist showing in the AAAA title game. Heading to North Dakota State next year, Andy’s combination of IQ, ability to play out of ball screens, and intangibles should allow him to see playing time early on.

Casmir “Cash” Chavis, 6’3, PG, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
Despite suffering a shocking loss to Eagan in the quarterfinals, Park Center bounced back to win the consolation championship on the back of its elite senior point guard. Putting up straight up video game numbers of 26.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 5.6 steals per game throughout the three games this week, the future Washington Huskies’ catalyst left no doubt in anyone’s minds who the most exciting guard in the state of Minnesota was with his electric style play and charisma on the court.

Isaac Asuma, 6’3, PG, Cherry HS (MN), 2024
Another player whose presence is felt well beyond the stat line, Isaac Asuma wrapped up his storied high school career as a state champion. The gritty guard is an outstanding cutter when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands, is elite finishing through contact, and has shown the ability to guard all three perimeter positions. The Minnesota recruit showed how he will be able to make an impact all over the floor with his play on Saturday, posting 12 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, five blocks, and three steals in the championship game.

Jaeden Udean, 6’2, PG/SG, DeLaSalle HS (MN), 2027
As the MSHSL State Tournament went on, Udean continued to solidify his case for best freshman in the state of Minnesota. The electric lefty scorer showcased NBA range on his 3-point shot, was outstanding creating separation to get to his shot, and showed no shortage of confidence letting it fly during critical moments of the game. Udean averaged double digits on varsity as an eighth grader last year and played up on the 3SSB circuit with D1 Minnesota, preparing him for big moments like this.

]]>
It is officially March. Minnesota high school hoops is winding down and the MSHSL state tournament will conclude this upcoming weekend. With reseeding taking place on Saturday, everything is set for the eight-team brackets in the four respective divisions that the MSHSL has to offer.

The section finals offered no shortage of excitement as well, though. With all three games that we took in throughout the week being sold out, the atmosphere was like no other. Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.) beat Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.) in the section 6AAAA final to take a 2-1 victory in their 2023-24 trilogy to move up to No. 36 in the latest FAB 50 National Rankings, Orono beat Benilde St. Margaret’s in double OT in the section 6AAA final in a game that had three separate buzzer beaters that broke the internet, and private power Breck School cruising to the section 5AA title over Minneapolis North.

Jackson McAndrew, 6’9, PF, Wayzata HS (MN), 2024
The state’s top senior certainly lived up to his reputation, pouring in 40 points in a 105-76 win over rival Hopkins to advance to the state tournament. The versatile forward showed his effortless 3-point range, scored out of quick flashes in the post, and blew by defenders trying to run him off the 3-point line. McAndrew is the highest ranked recruit ever to head to Creighton, where he should be able to make an immediate impact with his deep range and offensive versatility as a forward. Jackson was also recently selected to play in the prestigious Iverson Classic in May.

Nolan Groves, 6’5, PG/SG, Orono HS (MN), 2025
There hasn’t been a junior in the state of Minnesota who has helped themselves more in the high school season than 6-foot-5 combo guard Nolan Groves of Orono. The J-Sizzle guard continued to add to this sentiment in the section finals. He dropped 43 points, 18 rebounds, and 11 assists in a double OT victory while making a half court shot at the buzzer that was No. 1 on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 to send Orono to States. Groves showed his effortless 3-point range, underrated ability to drop pocket passes, and ability to utilize his size against smaller guards in his legendary performance in what has been one of the better games in recent Minnesota playoff history. Groves has already visited St. Thomas, but has also heard from high major programs such as Clemson, Iowa, and Northwestern.

Daniel Freitag, 6’2, PG, Breck HS (MN), 2024
The epitome of a power point guard, Daniel Freitag has been an absolute game changer on both ends during his senior season. Doubling as the top wide receiver in the state of Minnesota, Freitag opted to focus on hoops at the next level and it has shown with his growth as a lead guard. Daniel used his toughness/athleticism to lock down all three perimeter spots, made outstanding passes with both hands, and ripped the rim off at every time he attacked the rack. The Wisconsin signee dropped an easy 27 points en route to a state tournament berth for Breck.

Brady Wooley, 6’9, PF, Orono HS (MN), 2025
One of the most intriguing players in Minnesota’s junior class, Brady Wooley is everything that you look for in a new age forward and showed that against BSM with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. The agile big man with great hands is versatile enough to contain defensively on the perimeter, can playmake for others from the post position, and is skilled enough to punish you facing the basket. Wooley holds an offer from Ivy League power Yale and has already visited the likes of Iowa State and Minnesota.

Jaleel Donley, 6’2, PG, Benilde St. Margaret’s (MN), 2025
While it was a disappointing end to the season, the fastest guard in the state of Minnesota ended his junior campaign in about as impressive of fashion as one could imagine. The lefty junior playmaker has shown consistent improvement on his 3-point shot (including three to send game to first overtime), is outstanding passing the rock with both hands, and is a truly electric finisher once he gets into the paint. Donley is still a bit under the radar nationally, but shouldn’t be for much longer once he hits the EYBL with Howard Pulley.

Marcus Marshall Jr., 5’11, PG, Minneapolis North HS (MN), 2027
Many freshmen emerge throughout their freshman campaigns, and Marcus Marshall Jr. was certainly one of those dudes who kept growing, both in terms of stature and in terms of his game. He is a confident 3-point shooter with super deep range, owns super sneaky athleticism, and will make you pay if you try to run him off the three point line. Marcus is coached by former NBA sparkplug scorer Ricky Davis and wrapped up his freshman campaign with 31-point and 17-point games in the playoffs, finishing with a 14.9 PPG average on the year.

EIBC Finals: Top Performers! http://www.ebooksnet.com/eibc-finals-top-performers/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/eibc-finals-top-performers/#respond Tue, 12 Mar 2024 08:02:05 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=274983 Six Standouts!

The post EIBC Finals: Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
Founded by BFL Prep head coach Barry Jones, the EIBC provides a platform that offers not just convenience, but elite competition for schools throughout the nation. Rather than traveling across the country to play just one or two games, the EIBC offers programs the opportunity to play four games in four days each month at one central location throughout the country. Additionally, it makes things far easier for players to get exposure from both college coaches and scouts, since there are more than a dozen legit prep schools all under one roof with the season culminating with the EIBC Finals.

Held in Phoenix at The Phhacility, the EIBC Finals brought no shortage of talent, media, and college coaches to the Cactus State. Ultimately, Red Rock Academy (Las Vegas) was crowned the inaugural EIBC Champions, finishing the 2023-24 campaign with a 24-2 record, including a 14-0 record in EIBC play that saw them matched up against teams with D1 talent each outing.

Throughout the 16 teams, talent was abundant, but here are six players who separated themselves from the pack with their play at the EIBC Finals:

Jevon Yapi, 6’1, PG, Red Rock Academy (NV), 2025
Simply put, Jevon Yapi is a winner. After already having won a Nevada state title with Durango High School, he was the catalyst for Red Rock Academy’s undefeated title run in the inaugural EIBC season. The Vegas Elite guard is a serious shooter with deep range, has legit court savvy, and showed the ability to be both a playmaker as well as a scorer. Not coincidentally, Yapi received a D1 offer from High Point shortly after his EIBC campaign and will be a lead guard to watch this spring in the EYBL.

Arafan Diane, 7’0, C, Dynastie Prep (CAN), 2026
As far as helping themselves nationally, there wasn’t anyone who placed themselves more on the map nationally in the EIBC than Arafan Diane. The native of Guinea is a bit of an old school big man, but that doesn’t change the sheer dominance that he has on the game. He is unbelievable finishing through contact with both hands, showed great touch on his jumper out to mid-range, and was a game changing defender with his ability to wall up. Diane will be running with Iowa United on the Adidas circuit and has recently been ranked in the top-50 of the national 2026 rankings by various scouting services.

Jovan Milicevic, 6’9, PF/C, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2024
Perhaps the most talented offensive player in the EIBC, Jovan Milicevic showed the full bag for CIA in the EIBC Finals. The Canadian big man is a lights out shooter who creates separation with his crafty play, awkward change of pace, and ability to use his frame to dislodge defenders once making contact. Jovan will step in as the best offensive threat for Richard Pitino in New Mexico’s 2024 recruiting class.

Josiah Sanders, 6’4, PG/SG, Colorado Prep (CO), 2025
A name that has been well known in Colorado for a while now, Josiah Sanders put himself on the national radar with his play this past season in the EIBC. The 6-foot-4 combo guard was virtually unstoppable with his change of speed and ability to finish through contact, culminating with his 37 point, 9 rebound, 7 assist showing against ABC Prep (NM). Sanders has picked up offers from Arizona State, Seattle, and San Diego with his play over the past few weeks in the EIBC and is carrying no shortage of momentum into the AAU season.

Katrelle “KT” Harmon, 6’5, SG, BFL Prep (WA), 2026
The best player in the state of Washington put on a show as a sophomore for BFL Prep, and the experience that he gained playing varsity from his middle school days was evident in the EIBC. Katrelle was much more confident as a facilitator, showing the ability to impact the game as a playmaker, while also maintaining his presence as a deadly scoring threat. Harmon finished up the year for BFL Prep with ridiculous averages of 27.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.9 assists while playing both backcourt spots.

Diggy Griffin, 6’5, SG/SF, Rosemary Anderson (OR), 2025
It was my first time seeing Diggy Griffin, and I walked away undoubtedly knowing that he has a home at the D1 level. The lanky wing had a downright automatic pullup off the bounce, possessed no shortage of confidence as a scorer, and brought positional versatility on the defensive end.

The post Crush In The Valley II: Stocker Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
With state high school association sanctioned programs wrapping up their regular seasons, it’s that time for a number of prep schools as well. The Grind Session held its final regular season event of the 2023-24 campaign at Napa Valley College, titled “The Crush In The Valley 2”, brought teams from a handful of states and Canada to wine country. Host school Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) ran the table, going 3-0 on the weekend and remaining undefeated within Grind Session Power Conference play at 16-0. The crew presently sit at No. 8 in the latest FAB 50 National Rankings.

Here are a few of the best stock-risers from the Crush In The Valley II:

Mikey Lewis, 6’3, PG/SG, Prolific Prep (CA), 2024
He's been on the radar for quite some time, but despite his lofty numbers for the Oakland Soldiers and for Accelerated Prep, it feels like people sleep on him at times. The electric scorer puts pressure on defenders any time that he has the rock, has made huge strides as a playmaker for others, and has developed into a serious on ball defender against either backcourt spot. Lewis is St. Mary’s most heralded recruit and will undoubtedly find himself in contention for a number of post-season high school all-star games.

Lucas Toukam, 6’7, PF, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2026
While I had seen Lucas Toukam before, I was watching without a roster and had no idea that he was only a sophomore. Built like a grown man, the sophomore showed no fear on the floor, rebounded the ball outside of his area, and showed no problem converting through traffic at the rim. Toukam utilizes every bit of his 7-foot-3 wingspan on both ends of the court and will be a name to watch on the AAU circuit this spring.

Carter McDole, 6’7, SF, DNA Prep (CA), 2024
An intriguing long term prospect, Carter McDole started off his high school career at national power Montverde Academy (FL) then transferred to Orlando power Olympia HS, and is wrapping up his career out west at DNA Prep in LA. The lefty is able to play both forward spots, is an outstanding facilitator for others, and uses his athleticism to change the game on both ends of the court. McDole is a high upside two way forward whose best days of basketball are certainly ahead of him.

Aidan Sherrell, 6’11, C, Prolific Prep (CA), 2024
It’s hard for a McDonald’s All American to technically be considered a “stock riser,” but Aidan Sherrell showed that people may have him a bit lower than they should in the national rankings. The Alabama commit was much more assertive on the offensive end, was a game changer with his ability to keep plays alive on the offensive glass, and showed his developing range to the 3-point line. The Detroit native has ascended just as much as anyone in the national rankings over the past 18 months and there aren’t many bigs with higher upside in ‘24 than Sherrell.

Dace Pleasant, 6’5, SG/SF, Elite Prep (WA), 2024
There weren't many people who were more productive at Crush In The Valley than Dace Pleasant, who averaged 26 points and 13 rebounds while shooting the lights out in Elite Prep’s two games in Napa. Pleasant has an old school game, utilizes his size to make crafty finishes at the rack, and is a constant threat on the court wherever he is because of his deep jumpshot. The Seattle wing still remains wide open in terms of his recruitment.

Xaviel Rodriguez, 6’5, SG/SF, Accelerated Prep (CO), 2024
One of the better pure shooters of the event, Xaviel Rodriguez was a constant floor spacer for Accelerated Prep throughout the Crush In The Valley. He showed effortless range with his feet set, had no shortage of confidence letting it fly, and possesses a sturdy frame. The Puerto Rican product spends a considerable amount of time training with NBA players in Vegas at Impact Basketball, only making his transition to the collegiate level that much easier.

Here are a few of the standouts from the Crush In The Valley II:

Tyran Stokes, 6’7, SF/PF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2026
Considered by many to be the top sophomore in the nation, Tyran Stokes did everything in his power to live up to his lofty reputation and more throughout Prolific Prep’s undefeated weekend in Napa. Stokes was a more confident 3-point shooter than the last time we seen him, killed defenders with his ridiculously explosive first step, and was more engaged as an on ball defender than our last evaluation. The Louisville native leads The Grind Session in efficiency and has done everything in his power to hold on to that No. 1 spot in the class of 2026.

Jayden Williams, 6’9, C, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2024
Sometimes there are players that are hidden in plain sight, and Jayden Williams is definitely one of those guys. Williams is a much more confident scorer with his back to the basket, is great playing out of the dunker as a lob threat, and offers so much on defense containing perimeter/as a shot blocker. An incredibly heralded player early in his career, Williams made the move to Overtime Elite and it was almost as if people forgot about how special of a prospect he was. There aren’t many better available big men in the late signing period than Jayden Williams.

A.J. Dybantsa, 6’8, SF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2025
The No. 1 player in the class of 2025 didn’t force the issue at all over the weekend for Prolific Prep, letting his offense come to him within the flow of the game and showing the immense versatility that he offers as a new age forward. Able to play inside and out, Dybansta was an outstanding offensive rebounder, ran the floor exceptionally well, and impacted the game on both ends with his combination of length and athleticism. The pride of Brockton, Mass., already has a NIL deal with Nike and is sitting at fourth in The Grind Session Power Conference in scoring.

Aliou Dioum, 6’10, PF, Accelerated Prep (CO), 2026
It has been a coming out party of sorts in The Grind Session season for Aliou Dioum, Colorado’s top prospect in the class of 2026. The Senegalese big man finished above the rim in traffic, showed a super soft touch out to the 3-point line, and was outstanding as a rim protector. Dioum’s 27-point, 19-rebound, 5-block performance emphasized why Georgia and Georgia Tech put scholarships on the table for him so early in the process.

Z.Z. Clark, 6’3, PG/SG, DNA Prep (CA), 2024
There have been a number of people who forgot about Z.Z. Clark, but the former Illinois commit certainly reminded everyone that he’s one of the better scoring combo guards still left on the west coast with his play at The Grind Session. Clark was outstanding in pick and roll play, was a threat to score anytime that he had the rock in his hands, and got it done from both backcourt spots equally well. The younger brother of Louisville point guard Skyy Clark played last season with Overtime Elite, but proved that he belongs in The Grind Session with his 36-point, 11-rebound, 4-assist performance against Bella Vista Prep.

Khaman Maker, 7’2, C, SFBA Trinity Prep (NV), 2024
The biggest player in the Grind Session made a big impact on the game, and that was Khaman Maker. The defensive minded big man from Sudan had double doubles in both of Trinity’s games over the weekend while adding four blocks in each outing. Maker isn’t one to force the issue offensively, but made a number of tough catches around the rim and finished over top of the defense. Naturally, the biggest impact that he made on the game was as a rim protector, as he leads the Grind Session in blocked shots per game (4.7 blocks per game) and made defenders think twice when attacking the rim.

CIF Open Madness is here. Putting the top ranked California Interscholastic Federation's (CIF) top teams in one group in the regional playoffs is a dream, both for scouts and fans alike. Spending time up in San Francisco, I shot to state-ranked Archbishop Riordan for a CIF Central Coast Section open division pool play game against Serra (San Mateo, Calif.). The game did not disappoint, both in terms of actual basketball play and atmosphere itself.

It was a heavily contested contest from the start, with Riordan and Serra tied 28-28 at halftime after a physical first half with no shortage of fouls called that totally changed the complexion of the game. With neither team shooting the ball exceptionally well from the perimeter, the game reverted back to an old school style of play with the bulk of the points being scored via paint touches. Ultimately, Archbishop Riordan’s combination of size and athleticism proved to be too much for Serra, as it pulled away with a 65-49 victory to win pool "A" and move on to face West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) rival Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) Friday at Santa Clara University.

For Riordan, the catalyst was undoubtedly 6-foot-5 2025 Jasir Rencher. The junior played all three perimeter spots at times, alternating roles between playmaker and scoring threat. The combination of versatility on both ends, athleticism, and ability to create for himself/others make him one of the most special players that NorCal has to offer. Even though he only finished with 10 points, the impact that Rencher had on the game goes far beyond the box score. Holding over 20 D-1 offers at the moment, the Team Lillard guard has had PAC-12 schools such as USC, Washington, and Cal in for looks.

Though it was my first time seeing him, 6-foot-4 2026 Andrew Hilman certainly showed a ton of promise for Riordan. The lanky combo guard was able to defend all three perimeter spots, shot the ball well from the perimeter, and was tough to stop with his right hand drives going downhill. The package of athletic takes to the rack and outstanding on ball defense definitely stamp Hilman as a serious prospect, and college coaches have noticed as well with nearly a dozen D-1 programs already putting scholarships on the table.

While his outside shot wasn’t falling, you could see the immense upside that 6-foot-8 2024 Zion Sensley will bring to the table next year for top-25 ranked St. Mary’s in the WCC. Nationally known since he entered high school, Sensley started off at Riordan before transferring to Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.), a non-CIF program that plays other academy-type programs, then returning for his final campaign at Riordan. The son of former Hawaii All-WAC forward Julian Sensley changed the game on both ends with his length and athleticism, ultimately finishing with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Zion is one of those players who is simply scratching the surface as to how good he could ultimately become.

Despite walking away with a loss, 6-foot-4 2024 Andrew Pettis was the most gifted natural scorer of the group, dropping 21 points for Serra. The lefty combo guard was elite at creating separation with his change of speed, ultilized a number of half spins, and got to the lane at will. The Team Lillard guard showed potential as a shooter and also finished with creativity at the rack with both hands, as he kept Serra in the game throughout the first three quarters with the way that he took over the game. Heading to Fordham next year, Pettis will have the ability to make his impact felt from day one with his high IQ and ability to play both spots in the backcourt.

Archbishop Riordan will face WCAl rival Archbishop Mitty at 8:00 PM PT at Santa Clara University in the CIF Central Coast Section Finals. The winner will get a home game in the first round of the NorCal open regional. The loser will likely hit the road for the regional.

If FAB 50 No. 35 Salesian (Richmond, Calif.) captures the CIF North Coast Section open division title on Friday night at Contra Costa College over De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), it will earn the No. 1 seed in the NorCal open regional.

Catching a number of games throughout the Twin Cities over the past week, I opted to focus on a number of underclassmen throughout the Land of 10,000 Lakes. With many senior-laden teams atop the state rankings, there are times where it is tough to get an extended look at some of the youngsters the state has to offer. The 2026 and 2027 classes have countless prospects who are rapidly developing, but have yet to truly receive the exposure to D1 programs yet in live evaluation periods.

Here are some of the top underclassmen that I saw in the state of Minnesota over the past week:

Tian Chatman, 6’5, PG/SG, Totino-Grace HS (MN), 2026
The younger brother of Ohio State point guard Taison Chatman has shown an abundance of potential since entering high school a year and a half ago, but is really starting to get things to click in the second half of his sophomore campaign for back to back state champion Totino-Grace. The lanky combo guard has outstanding court vision, is a big time finisher above the rim, and is rapidly developing into a serious on ball defender. Toss in the fact that his 3-point shot is gaining more consistency (hit 3 3PT vs Champlin Park) and you see why high major programs have already begun closely monitoring Chatman.

Jaeden Udean, 6’2, PG/SG, DeLaSalle HS (MN), 2027
Considered by many to be the best freshman in the state of Minnesota, Jaeden Udean doesn't even start for perennial power DeLaSalle, yet is the team's leading scorer and showed why against Cretin Derham Hall. The electric lefty was face guarded the entire game, being forced to continually stay on the move, yet also do whatever he had to do to find ways to get his shot off. Opting to revert back to his 3-point shot off the bounce quite often, Udean is constantly able to create separation with his step back and side step to get to his jumpshot. Jaeden will be running with D1 Minnesota on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer.

Joseph Mitchell, 6’1, PG, Cretin Derham Hall (MN), 2026
Yet another interesting underclassman lead guard in Minnesota, Joseph “JoeJoe” Mitchell may be the best overall scorer as far as guards in the sophomore class are concerned. The confident scorer dropped 24 points on DeLaSalle via a flurry of quick release jumpshots, first step drives to the rack, and jumpers off the bounce. Mitchell will be running with Chatman on the AAU circuit for one of the state’s more interesting 2026 squads in Team FSA.

Monteff Dixon, 6’5, PF, Cretin Derham Hall (MN), 2025
A bit of a throwback forward, Monteff Dixon controlled the paint for CDH in their win over DeLaSalle. The long armed junior punished guys on the block with his crafty finishes, made great passes out of the post, and absolutely controlled the glass on both ends. Monteff finished the game with 26 points and 16 rebounds in dominant fashion, but also doubles as a serious football recruit.

Preston Thielke, 6’3, SG, Champlin Park HS (MN), 2025
As far as productivity is concerned, Preston Thielke got it done against back to back defending state champion Totino-Grace. Thielke is a high IQ player with a bit of an unorthodox game, but his style of play and ability to shoot it from deep make him an exceptionally tough player to defend. Preston is certainly going to be one of the sleeper names in the state to follow on the AAU circuit this spring.

Kwatamah Silikpoh , 5’10, PG, Champlin Park HS (MN), 2027
If you were to dive into statistics, there haven't been many who have done more in the freshman class in the state of Minnesota at the varsity level than Kwatamah Silikpoh. While under 6-foot at the moment, the lead guard is a crazy finisher at the rack, has unbelievably quick hands defensively, and is a threat to score any time that he has the rock in his hands. Silikpoh will be suiting up with D1 Minnesota on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this spring.

Throughout the past week, I traveled throughout the state of Minnesota and my hometown of Cleveland hitting as many games as possible. Between high school, college, and NBA games, I was able to catch nine games over seven days while traveling, so it was a pretty productive week to say the least. There were huge matchups in both Minnesota and Ohio, leaving plenty of opportunity for players to put their respective stamps on the season before the playoffs start.

Here are some of the top performers that I saw in the past week throughout Cleveland and Minnesota:

Kyle Jorgensen, 6’9, C, Minneapolis Washburn (MN), 2024
One of the most productive players in the state of Minnesota, Kyle Jorgensen continued his storied high school career by keeping Minneapolis Washburn undefeated (12-0) in city league play with wins over South and North. Jorgensen is the epitome of a playmaking center, is perfectly comfortable playing facing the rack, yet also has a strong repertoire of moves with his back to the basket. Jorgensen?is the next Minnesota player in Nico Medved’s rapidly developing Minnesota pipeline and has shown constant growth throughout his high school career.

Luke Skaljac, 6’1, PG, Brecksville Broadview Heights HS (OH), 2024
Arguably the best pure scorer in the Cleveland area, Luke Skaljac showed why he’s going to be able to help Miami (OH) at the D-1 level against perennial power Lakewood St. Edward’. The lefty is outstanding at creating separation for his shot, utilizing his off arm exceptionally well and throwing defenders off with his extreme change of pace. Skaljac’s ability to make tough shots and create for himself/others should allow him to contribute in the MAC next year.

Jayden Moore, 6’0, PG, Hopkins HS (MN), 2026
As far as pure point guards are concerned, there aren’t many better in the class of 2026 than Jayden Moore. The two way guard from J- Sizzle totally controlled the offense when we saw him, put immense pressure on the rock defensively, and was exceptional rebounding the ball from the backcourt. Moore already has six triple doubles this season and is the catalyst for a Hopkins squad that has the potential to do some damage in the Minnesota State Tournament.

Wendell Henry, 6’6, PF, St. Edward HS (OH), 2024
A versatile big man, Wendell Henry punished Brecksville en route to St. Ed’s 74-65 upset victory. He continually exploited mismatches with smaller defenders on the block, showed great touch facing the basket, and even made plays for others both facing up and with his back to the basket. Henry ultimately finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, and three assists while reminding everyone in attendance why he’s one of the best unsigned seniors in Northeast Ohio.

Bryan Vlosich, 6’3, SG, St. Edward HS (OH), 2026
With Lakewood St. Edward being one of Ohio’s perennial powers in high school hoops, it’s rare that you see a player seemingly come out of nowhere from the JV squad to becoming an impact player on the varsity squad. Bryan Vlosich has done just that. A lights out shooter with grit, the sophomore shows no shortage of confidence, letting it fly from deep, and has shown the ability to contain defensively. Vlosich is one of the bright young names that has emerged this season in the Cleveland area.

Brady Ganley, 6’3, SG, Brecksville-Broadview Heights HS (OH), 2025
In terms of wings in the Cleveland area, Brady Ganley has quietly established himself as one of the better shooters in the junior class. Owning no shortage of confidence and an underrated first step, Ganely can hurt you when left open, yet will also make you pay with his two-dribble pull-up if you close out on him wildly. Having had a number of monster games on the Under Armour circuit with Ohio Basketball Club, Brady will be a focal point for OBC’s 17U team this spring/summer.

]]>
As far as events are concerned, Phoenix is quickly becoming one of the nation’s basketball capitols. With a combination of great weather, affordable travel, and no shortage of facilities, The Grand Canyon State plays host to a legit hoops event virtually every single weekend. Given a relatively slow slate of games back home in Minneapolis, I opted to shoot to Phoenix to take in the Hoopers On1y Phhacility Classic 3.

Mixing a middle school AAU tournament with a prep school showcase, there was no shortage of talent in Phoenix. Prep schools from California, Canada, Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, and a host of others descended upon the Phhacility to get some quality games in. Leo Sotomayor and his staff were incredibly accommodating, keeping me up to date with schedule changes and letting me know some sleepers, making it a super smooth event to cover.

Here are a few of the players who certainly saw their stock rise from the 2024 Hoopers On1y Phhacility Classic 3:

Houran Dan, 6’11, C, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2024
There wasn’t a single player who helped themselves more at Hoopers On1y than Houran Dan, a near 7-foot Chinese import who has been in the States for a mere few weeks. The athletic big man ran the floor well, ripped the rim off at every available opportunity, and showed nice touch facing the basket. Having played with the 19U Chinese National Team, Houran is known across the pond, but will certainly establish himself as a high major prospect here in the states.

Jayden Williams, 6’9, C, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2024
A player that some have seemingly forgotten about, Jayden Williams is certainly one of the best big men left on the board for the class of 2024. Having signed with Overtime Elite last year, Williams made the move to Bella Vista and is reminding people why he’s a high major prospect. The long armed Georgia native is an imposing shot blocker, is great playing as a rim-runner, and can finish in traffic with either hand. Still super open in terms of his recruitment, Williams is definitely a name worth checking out before the season comes to its end.

Mason Abittan, 6’6, Red Rock Academy (NV), 2025
One of the better wings with size in the event, Mason Abittan exhibited why he has been turning heads at both the EIBC and at Hoopers On1y. He’s an automatic shooter with his feet set, looks to dunk absolutely everything in transition, and has a solid first step for straight line drives. Mason already holds offers from Radford, Weber State, and Cal State Bakersfield with many more to follow.

Tammar Brown, 6’10, C, Rocktop Academy (PA), 2025
Someone who I was admittedly not familiar with entering the event, Tammar Brown certainly left his mark as one of the highest ceiling players the event had to offer. Owning a massive frame, Brown utilized his wingspan on both ends of the court, showed surprising coordination, and converted with both hands around the rim. Still far from an unfinished product, Tammar Brown is a name to monitor closely over the next year and a half.

Jaxon Olvera, 6’4, SG/PG, Golden State Prep (CA), 2024
One of the most productive overall players in the event, Jaxon Olvera was getting it done from both guard spots for both Golden State Prep teams at the Hoopers On1y Phhacility Classic. Olvera has no shortage of confidence attacking the rack, is a legit 3-point shooter, and has also shown the ability to facilitate an offense. Having an outstanding prep year, Jaxon Olvera is certainly someone who has produced at a high level and will be interesting during the late signing period.

Nishayne Sharpe, 6’0, PG, Canyon International (AZ), 2026
The younger brother of Blazers rising star Shaedon Sharpe, Nishayne Sharpe is quietly building his own legacy in Phoenix. Sharpe is a super quick guard who can get into the paint at will, utilizes his speed to play serious on ball defense, and is playing with much more confidence than when I saw him earlier in the season. Given his older brother’s size (6-foot-6) and freakish athleticism, I’d say you may want to buy stock in the next player to come from the Sharpe family.

Leo Sotomayor and his staff were incredibly accommodating, keeping me up to date with schedule changes and letting me know some sleepers, making it a super smooth event to cover.

Here are a few of the top performers from the 2024 Hoopers On1y Phhacility Classic 3:

Jae’Coby Osborne, 6’6, SF, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2024
While there were players who had bigger names at the event, there may have not been anyone who had a better two-way performance than Jae’Coby Osborne. The Houston product was a monster finisher in transition, made great cuts to open areas of the court, and locked down virtually every single position for Bella Vista. Heading to New Mexico State next year, Osborne has the ability on both ends to help the rapidly resurging program.

Paul Osaruyi, 6’9, PF, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2027
The most highly touted player in the event, Paul Osaruyi didn’t put up huge numbers, but certainly showed the raw talent that has him amongst the elite players in the class of 2027. The Canadian big uses his freakish athleticism to change the game on both ends, is a developing 3-point shooter, and has the potential to take over when his confidence is high. The blend of size, raw skills both inside and out, and athleticism place Osaruyi right there near the top of the class.

Jaden Vance, 6’4, SG, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2025
A player who has been blowing up on the Grind Session, Jaden Vance was a super efficient scorer for Bella Vista at Hoopers On1y. The scoring guard was automatic with his pull-up J, has deep 3-point range, and is able to defend all three perimeter positions. Vance already holds numerous D1 offers and will be a name to watch during the live period.

Dilen Miller, 6’3, PG, Inspire Prep (AZ), 2024
A player I hadn’t seen before, Dilen Miller was the physical, shifty point guard from years past. He openly sought contact, killed opposing defenders with his change of pace, and was automatic with his mid-range pullup. The gritty, hard nosed play that he brings should give him the opportunity to earn immediate minutes at Georgia State.

Ahmere Carson, 6’2, PG, Skyline Prep (AZ), 2024
A downright physically punishing guard, Ahmere Carson used his massive frame to provide a huge impact on both ends of the floor for Skyline Prep. The lefty excelled at finishing through contact when going downhill, can really pass it with both hands, and provided immense pressure on the rock defensively. Headed to UMKC, the Chicago product will bring a level of toughness you don’t see out of many Summit League point guards.

Rokiem Green, 6’3, PG/SG, Canyon International Academy, 2026
Yet another Canadian to make the voyage to Arizona, Rokiem Green showed that he’s next in line in the backcourt. Typically running with the EYBL Scholastic team, Green was playing with the EIBC group and put on a show. The sophomore was a confident 3-point shooter (hit game winning three against Inspire Prep), put pressure on the defense any time that he had the ball in his hands, and locked down both backcourt positions. Already holding mid major offers, Green should be adding plenty more running with Arizona Unity in the EYBL.

Last week was a great one for basketball in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Getting deep into conference play, there were countless opportunities to watch programs that had multiple D-1 prospects play against each other to the point that it was tough to pick which game to go to each night. Defending 3-A State Champion Totino-Grace (Wayzata, Minn.) rolled and is the surefire favorite to repeat for a third consecutive year. Defending 4-A state champ Wayzata won three in a row after suffering their lone loss of the year, and top 50 2024 Jackson McAndrew is doing everything in his power to lock up Mr. Basketball. Orono showed why its a team you don’t want to face in the playoffs with an under the radar junior dropping 50 in a win last week.

Here are a few of the top players who I evaluated in the past week (Jan. 29-Feb. 3) in Minnesota:

Dothan Ijadimbola, 6’6, SF, Totino-Grace (MN), 2026
Considered by many to be the top sophomore in the state of Minnesota, Dothan Ijambola showed considerable growth thus far throughout his sophomore campaign, especially with his confidence as a shooter. He looked far more comfortable shooting the three with his feet set, was automatic with his mid-range pull-up, and is learning to utilize his length on both ends. Ijadimbola is ranked in the top-50 nationally and already holds offers from the likes of Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.

Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, 6’7, SF/PF, Totino-Grace (MN), 2024
One of the most physically punishing players in the state, Isaiah Johnson-Arigu has developed into everything you look for out of a new age forward. He is skilled enough to straight line beat you off the bounce, is fluid enough to make a second move once help defenders step up, and immediately looks to punish smaller defenders in the post by showcasing his strength. Heading to play in the ACC for Miami, Johnson-Arigu has the versatility to earn minutes sooner rather than later, especially as he continues to take his three point shot to new heights.

Nolan Groves, 6’4, PG/SG, Orono HS (MN), 2025
In one of the more dynamic scoring outputs of the season, Nolan Groves dropped 50 points in front of an Iowa assistant coach in a St. Louis Park squad that has two D-1 prospects themselves in Groves’ AAU teammates Micah and Marley Curtis. He drilled a number of deep 3-pointers, was automatic with his mid-range game, and also made some really nice passes out of pick and roll play. Groves will be running on the 3SSB Circuit with J-Sizzle and is continuing to build a name for himself in recruiting circles.

Jackson McAndrew, 6’9, PF, Wayzata HS (MN), 2024
The state’s top player from the defending state champions bounced back after their loss to Hopkins, averaging 28 points per game over the last three Wayzata wins. He scored 31 points against a super tough Minnetonka team, showed a ton of promise as a facilitator/playmaker, and is constantly getting more confident in finishing through contact when attacking the basket despite his slender frame. McAndrew is Creighton’s highest ranked recruit in recent memory and should contribute from day one.

Nolen Anderson, 6’6, SG, Eden Prairie HS (MN), 2026
In an absolute electric performance, Nolen Anderson firmly established himself as one of the best in Minnesota’s 2026 class, dropping 33 points against defending state champ Totino-Grace. Having grown to a legit 6-foot-6, the shooting guard has also developed into much more than a standstill shooter. He is great playing out of dribble handoffs, is constantly relocating without the ball, and scoring on straight line drives. Nolen will be running with D1 Minnesota on the 3SDB Circuit this spring and is bound to blow up.

Tyler Wagner, 6’5, SG, Totino-Grace (MN), 2025
A player who just keeps getting better, Tyler Wagner continues to evolve as a modern day two guard. He is an automatic shooter with his feet set, but also has a nice first step for straight line drives and has no problem going up and dunking on you. As Wagner’s ability to continually score off the bounce continues to improve, more offers will follow. However, he already has a number of D1 offers with many others closely monitoring.

]]>
It was a pretty wild week in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this past week in high school hoops. In between taking in various Timberwolves and college games, I was able to see a number of the state’s best prospects and they did not disappoint. Hopkins upset Minnesota No. 1 and FAB 50 ranked Wayzata (Plymouth, Minn.), Richfield (Minn.) surprised DeLaSalle (Minneapolis, Minn.) on a 40-foot buzzer beater to win the game, and small town Dawson Boyd (Dawson, Minn.) made the journey to the Twin Cities to play in the Grassroots Sizzle Jump City Hoops Classic.

Needless to say, there were a number of players who stood out, and here are some of the top performers from the games that I saw this past week in Minnesota.

Anthony Smith III, PG/SG, Hopkins HS (MN), 2025
Perhaps the best shooter in the state of Minnesota regardless of class, Anthony Smith III provided the scoring presence that Hopkins needed to upset Wayzata, dropping 20 points (four 3-point). Smith III has shown continual improvement as both a playmaker and a slasher, showing more confidence attacking the rack and facilitating for others. Running with D1 Minnesota, Smith already holds a number of D1 offers and has firmly supplanted himself on the radar of countless programs.

Brayson Boike, 6’6, SF, Dawson Boyd HS (MN), 2025
Coming from rural Minnesota, it’s rare to get to see teams from out that way make it to the Twin Cities. Unless you’re trying to make a three hour trek in the dead of winter to remote areas of Minnesota, it’s best to seize the opportunity when these teams come to the city. Brayson Boike, a versatile 6-foot-6 forward, did not disappoint in the Grassroots Sizzle Jump City Classic. With the University of St. Thomas and North Dakota both in the house to watch him, Boike changed the game with his inside-out play and fluidity on the defensive end. He controlled the interior defensively, yet also showed his perimeter skill set by immediately grabbing the rock and initiating the offense. Running with D1 Minnesota on the 3SSB circuit, Brayson is going to be a guy who mid-major programs will be following closely.

Jayden Moore, 6’0, PG, Hopkins HS (MN), 2026
The state’s best pure point guard did so much more than showed up in the box score in Hopkins’ upset victory over Wayzata. Dropping a triple double (12 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals), he made an immense impact as the catalyst for Hopkins on both ends of the hardwood. Already holding offers from Baylor, West Virginia, Illinois, and Minnesota, Moore will be the focal point of the J-Sizzle 17U team on the 3SSB Circuit.

Daveion “Davie” Hart, 6’5, SF, Hopkins HS (MN), 2025
A player who has constantly improved over the last two years, “Davie” Hart saved his best for Hopkins win over Wayzata. The lanky swingman changed the game with his length defensively, hit open 3-pointers, and showed much more assertiveness with his offensive game as a scorer than we’ve seen in the past, finishing with 22 points. The flexibility that he offers coaches on both ends of the floor will make him one of the more interesting Minnesota names to follow throughout his senior year.

C.J. Armstrong, 6’3, SG, Richfield HS (MN), 2025
Certain players have the ultimate green light, and CJ Armstrong is certainly one of those dudes for Richfield High School. Averaging 33 points per game, the bouncy scoring guard has developed with quite the reputation, continuing to build on it with his 38-point showing against perennial power DeLaSalle. CJ scored from all three levels, showed extreme confidence throughout the game, and hit a 40-foot shot at the buzzer to give Richfield a 71-70 win.

J.J. Semanko, 6’4, SG/SF, Hopkins HS (MN), 2025?
Similar to Hart, Semanko is another player who has made huge strides with his game within the past year and a half. Semanko is an elite shot blocker on the perimeter (blocks a ton of jumpshots), is a creative finisher at the rack when slashing, and has developed into a reliable 3-point shooter. Semanko is another key piece on a special group of Hopkins underclassmen that will all be receiving college scholarships.

The post Chet Mason Invitational: Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The Chet Mason Invitational is an annual pilgrimage back to my hometown of Cleveland and is a “must see” event for anyone in the state of Ohio. Blending Cleveland area teams with prep schools, the one day event at Brush High School falls in the middle of the NFL Playoffs, but that doesn’t stop the city from coming out and supporting. Mason had quite the storied career himself. He’s the last player from the Cleveland City League (The Senate) to win Ohio Mr. Basketball, was Adriatic League MVP, and played in the preseason with the Cavs.

The CMI boasts NBA alumni such as LaMelo Ball, Isaiah Jackson, Jordan Hawkins, JT Thor, Malaki Branham, and Oscar Tshiebwe. Furthermore, there have been well over a hundred D1 players who have played in the event over the years, along with a number of viral videos. While nothing went viral from the 2024 edition, there was still some serious talent at Brush High School.

Here are a few of the top performers from the 2024 Chet Mason Invitational:

Damarius Owens, 6’7, SF, Western Reserve Academy (OH), 2024
Damarius Owens stole the show at the CMI, winning MVP of his squad’s overtime win against a super tough Fort Erie squad. Winters changed the game on both ends with his athleticism, but what was even more impressive was the fact he has developed into far more of a complete small forward. The City Rocks senior was automatic with his jumper, used his athleticism to finish over the top of people in the paint, and showed the chaos that he can potentially cause on the defensive end. Damarius is far from a finished product, but is exactly the type of skilled athlete that fits in perfectly with Shaka Smart’s system.

Tobe Ezeokafor, 6’5, SG/SF, Fort Erie International Academy (CAN), 2024
A player who I was unfamiliar with going into the event, Tobe Ezeokafor is everything that you look for out of a power wing in today’s game. He is an outstanding shooter with his feet set, can finish through contact in the paint, and utilizes his 7-foot-1 wingspan to put pressure on the rock. Still very open with his recruitment, Ezeokafor is the type of 3 and D guy that colleges are dying for in today’s game.

Marcus Johnson, 6’1, PG/SG, Garfield Heights HS (OH), 2026
Having played the night before in Columbus (two and a half hours away from Cleveland), it was a quick turnaround for Ohio’s top sophomore (and ESPN’s No. 12 player in the class of 2026). Johnson is one of the most naturally gifted scorers that the city has seen in a long time. His ability to create separation and get to his sweet spots is simply special. The fact that he only had 16 points for Cleveland’s top team surprised some because of the video game numbers he’s been putting up as of late, but that certainly hasn’t stopped just about every school in the country from putting a scholarship on the table for the lefty.

Matt Dann, 7’0, C, Fort Erie International Academy (CAN), 2025
One of the higher upside players in the event, Canadian Matt Dann certainly showed that he belonged at the CMI. A very solid athlete with a 7-foot-6 wingspan, Matt made a number of tough catches in traffic, ran the floor well, and even showed flashes of a short jumper facing up. Already holding an offer from Oregon, Dann will be a name you definitely need to follow in The Grind Session and beyond.

Royce Parham, 6’8, SF/PF, Western Reserve Academy (OH), 2026
The definition of a new age forward, Royce Parham got it done inside and out at the CMI. Showing more pop than he did in the summer, the Team Durant forward dunked everything in the paint, and showed a feathery touch facing the rack. The combination of Parham and Winters should help bolster Marquette’s front line from day one with their versatile play.

Damarion Witten, 6’4, SF/PF, Cleveland Glenville (OH), 2024
The epitome of a glue guy, Damarion Witten brought everything that you’d hope for out of a high school teammate. The long armed forward literally defended every single position at times, played with an unreal motor on both ends, and ripped the rim off at every single opportunity he had en route to MVP honors of the game. Witten is a four star football recruit headed to Ohio State and was MVP of the US Army All American Game, but is still the type of teammate that every player would love to have on their team.

OCPS Championship Recap! http://www.ebooksnet.com/ocps-championship-recap/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/ocps-championship-recap/#respond Thu, 25 Jan 2024 21:55:41 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=274516 Oak Ridge vs. Olympia!

The post OCPS Championship Recap! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
It’s always awesome to see two teams from the same area both sit amongst the top five in their respective state. However, it’s pretty rare when you see them from the same city from a basketball hotbed such as Florida, much less from the same conference. Enter Oak Ridge and Olympia from the Orange County Public School League in Orlando.

Having both respectively won their side of the conference, it set the stage for a hyped game that had around a dozen potential D1 players from both sides combined playing in the game amidst a sold out crowd at Olympia. Ultimately, it was Oak Ridge, ranked No. 31 in the current FAB 50 National Team Rankings, who won the game 87-73. There was no shortage of players who really helped themselves on both sides.

Here are a few of the top performers from the OCPS championship game:

Jamier Jones, 6’6, SF, Oak Ridge HS (FL), 2025
One of the elite juniors in the nation, Jamier Jones just continues to take his game to new heights. Always a truly special finisher at the rack, he is now a much more confident 3-point shooter and is an absolute terror as an offensive rebounder. Furthermore, Jones has really bought in on the defensive end and put massive pressure on the rock as an on ball defender. There wasn’t much more that Jamier could have done throughout his 27-point, 11-rebound showing to lock up his spot as a Top 5 player in the class.

Jordan Tillery, 6’5, PG/SG, Oak Ridge HS (FL), 2024
While Jamier Jones brought all the highlights, Jordan Tillery brought extreme versatility to the table, playing all three perimeter positions. His 20 points and seven assists don’t even begin to explain the level of impact that he had on both ends of the hardwood. Heading to Georgia Southern, Tillery has the potential to be an immediate impact D1 player due to his size and versatility from the backcourt.

Kameren Wright, 6’5, SG/SF, Olympia HS (FL), 2024
One of the better unsigned seniors in Florida is Kameren Wright, an athletic swingman with deep range. Against Oak Ridge, he dropped 17 points via a flurry of deep threes and blazing takes to the rack. Wright won the Pro16 title this summer with 1 Family and has already taken numerous official visits to D1 programs such as Murray State and Hofstra with high majors closely monitoring.

Kaiden White, 6’4, PG/SG, Olympia HS (FL), 2024
Not being from Florida, I wasn’t familiar with Kaiden White heading into this game. Leaving it, I’m glad that I made the choice to see the OCPS title game. A 6’4 guard with some wiggle to his game, White is a serious shooter who can create for others and has awesome court vision. Showing that he can more than hold his own against Oak Ridge’s abundance of D1 talent, White is a player you’re definitely going to want to track throughout the late signing period.

Jalen Reece, 6’0, PG, Oak Ridge HS (FL), 2025
While he’s not the flashiest player in the class of 2025, there aren’t many lead guards smarter than Jalen Reece in the class. The coach’s son plays the game at his own speed, has an incredibly tight handle, and showed off super deep range. The 15 points and 10 assists that he had against Olympia exemplify the way that he’s able to control the game, and the way he will be able to do the same at the high major level.

Tyler Johnson, 6’5, SF/PF, Oak Ridge HS (FL), 2024
In today’s game, Tyler Johnson is exactly what everyone looks for in a forward. He’s skilled enough to play small forward, tough enough to slide to power forward when needed, and athletic enough to defend both at the high major level. Johnson is exactly the type of glue guy that you need and the 10 points that he had against Olympia don’t even begin to tell the impact he had on the game. The Florida Rebels forward should serve a similar role next year in the ACC at Virginia Tech.

Vophcy Prophete, 6’5, SG/SF, Olympia HS (FL), 2024
A player who I hadn’t seen before was Vophcy Prophete, a bit of a throwback wing. Constantly throwing people off with his change of pace, he showed an innate ability to finish in traffic by taking slower steps and finishing with opposite hand or off opposite leg while also maintaining a presence as a 3-point threat. Owning no shortage of confidence, Prophete scored 20 points against perennial powerhouse Oak Ridge and is still open in the recruitment process.

Cactus Classic Top Stock-Risers! http://www.ebooksnet.com/cactus-classic-top-stock-risers/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/cactus-classic-top-stock-risers/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2024 19:18:13 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=274453 Recruiters Take Note!

The post Cactus Classic Top Stock-Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The Cactus Classic is back. After taking a two-year hiatus, Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) founder Nick Weaver and head coach Marques “Taj” Gantt decided to bring the event back. I still recall attending the 2021 rendition and seeing three players by the names of Jared McCain, Kyan Boswell and Devin Williams as youngsters for a simply loaded Corona Centennial team that made waves in California. The initial BFL Prep team (which later added future NBA Draft No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero) was also in the building. There were no shortage of household names in recruiting circles, but there were also a number of players who put their names on the radar at the event in Buckeye, Arizona.

Here are some of the top stock-risers from the 2024 Cactus Classic:

Iyayi Osunde, 6’0, PG, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2026
When you talk about players who helped themselves at the Cactus Classic, it starts and ends with Iyayi Osunde. The Canadian guard is an insanely special finisher, can get to the rack at will, and has constantly grown over the years. Running with AZ Unity, Osunde is definitely a player who will break out on the 2024 EYBL circuit.

Tarik Watson, 6’8, PF/C, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2024
One of the most productive bigs at the Cactus Classic, Tarik Watson brought his upstate New York style of play for Hillcrest Prep. Watson was outstanding rebounding outside of his area, can play make from the post, and imposes his will on others defensively with his physical style of play. The high academic big has been hearing most from Northwestern, Brown, and Western Carolina as of late.

Ty Virgil, 6’5, PG/SG/SF, Phh Prep National (AZ), 2024
A combo guard with size, Ty Virgil showed the ability to play all three perimeter positions at the Cactus Classic. The lefty is a terrific athlete, excels pushing the rock up the floor in a hurry, and shows potential as a 3-point shooter. A native of Sacramento, Virgil is yet another NorCal player who has slid under the radar, but owns no shortage of D1 offers.

Jaelyn Lyn, 6’4, PG/SG, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2024
Another unsigned senior on the list is Jaelyn Lyn, a freak athlete combo guard out of New York. Lyn utilized his athleticism on both ends, really has the ability to put points on the board in a hurry, and puts immense pressure on the rock defensively. The Queens product ran with Wiz Kids on the AAU circuit and is going to make a college happy in the late signing period.

Adrien Isaac, 6’10, C, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2027
One of the more talented freshman bigs on the west coast, Adrien Isaacs showed his ridiculous upside at the Cactus Classic. The lefty is an imposing shot blocker, can really pass the rock for a young big, and showed good hands making tough catches. Isaac put the full package on display with a 16-point, 7-rebound, 5-block game against Ascending Life and is certainly a name to remember.

Nate Washburn, 6’8, PF/C, Phh Prep National (AZ), 2024
A throwback big, Nate Washburn definitely showed that he could hold his own in the paint at the Cactus Classic. He made a number of tough catches/conversions in the paint, controlled his area on the glass, and even showed potential as a shooter facing the rack. The Michigan native definitely has the game that fits in perfectly for a number of conferences within the Midwest at the collegiate level.

There were no shortage of high major players who certainly established themselves during the event and while the 2024 edition wasn’t quite as loaded, there was still some serious talent in the building in Buckeye, Arizona.

Here are some of the top performers from the 2024 Cactus Classic:

Jason Asemota, 6’9, SF/PF, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2024
The most highly regarded player at the Cactus Classic certainly lived up to his billing, as Jason Asemota put on a show in Hillcrest Prep’s two victories. The future Baylor new age forward hit at least 12 threes over the two games, showed the ability to defend multiple spots, and is learning how to utilize his size more on the interior. Asemota averaged 30 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over Hillcrest's two victories throughout the weekend, doing everything in his power to lock up his spot in the McDonald’s All American Game.

Jinup Doboul, 6’8, SF, PHH Prep National (AZ), 2024
A player whom I was quite familiar with from his days at Minnesota Prep, Jinup Diboul definitely made some serious strides in his game over the past eight months. The lanky swingman truly looks the part of an ideal face-up forward, blending serious athleticism with a vastly improved game off the bounce. Given the continual improvement of Doboul, it should come as no surprise that high majors are tracking him closely for the late signing period.

Jalik Dunkley, 6’6, SF, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2024
Having seen Jalik Dunkley before in the EIBC, I was already familiar with the Canadian swingman, but it did me well to get another look. The freak athlete was the best above the rim finisher of the event, has unbelievable potential on the defensive end, and even reminds one of Andrew Wiggins at times with the way that he is able to contort his body. Dunkley is still wide open, although many high major programs have been inquiring about him.

Marsai Mason, 6’6, SG, PHH Prep National (AZ), 2024
One of the absolute standouts of the event, Marsai Mason may have helped himself as much as anyone at the Cactus Classic. The powerfully build wing has a perfect frame, can really defend, and has range out to the NBA 3-point line. The Northern Arizona coaching staff was in the building watching Mason on the opening night and it should come as no surprise that they put an offer on the table for him within the week.

Aeramiah Binford, 6’5, SG/SF, Ascending Life (AZ), 2024
A player who I hadn’t seen before, Aeramiah Binford definitely had the physical tools that you’d love to see out of a potential D-1 wing. He utilized his length on both ends of the court, converted at a high rate at the rack, and constantly threw defenders off with his ability to jump off his right leg. Binford averaged 20 points per game on the weekend, while showing serious potential for Ascending life.

Christian Jones, 5’11, PG, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2025
Playing in his opening weekend with Hillcrest Prep, Christian Jones certainly showed that he belonged. Jones capped off the weekend with a 20 point, 12 assist, 7 steal show in the final game along with two victories.

The post Concordia St. Paul Holiday Classic Standouts appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The Holiday break from school brings some serious hoops all throughout the country. Given the fact that student athletes are on break, there are endless events throughout the nation that offer fans, scouts, and college coaches alike the opportunity to watch some high level hoops all under one roof. While many teams opt to play in national events, the state of Minnesota’s archaic travel rule (high school teams are only allowed to play games within 250 miles of their school’s address) has created a longstanding culture of outstanding local holiday tournaments. Enter the Concordia St. Paul Holiday Classic.

Given the fact that Minnesota only has two D-1 programs (University of Minnesota and St. Thomas), the D-2 culture is very strong in the far north. Concordia St. Paul offers a gorgeous Gangelhoff Center that offers more than many low D-1 facilities do. Head coach Matt Fletcher, assistant Nick Perrin, and the rest of the staff do an outstanding job of putting together not just elite high school programs, but a myriad of intriguing college prospects together for the two day event.

Here are a few of the standouts from the 2023 Concordia St. Paul Holiday Classic:

Chiang Ring, 6’9, PF/C, Park Center (MN), 2024
The best unsigned senior in the state of Minnesota showed why he’s also a hot commodity in the Midwest, dropping 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 blocks vs Minnetonka. Ring is such an interesting prospect because he is a new age big with great timing as a shot blocker, the range to contain defensively on the perimeter, and showed a ton of promise as a 3-point shooter. Holding a dozen D1 offers, Ring has already been on campus at New Mexico and still will be taking more visits in the spring.

Jayden Daisy, 6’5, SF, Benilde St. Margaret’s (MN), 2024
One of the better unsigned seniors in the state of Minnesota, Daisy certainly lived up to the hype at the CSP Holiday Classic. The long armed senior used his length to defend a multitude of positions, posted up smaller defenders, and was tough to stop as a straight line driver. Doubling as a 6-foot-5 wide receiver, the future is bright for the Howard Pulley wing with whichever sport that he chooses to play.

Casmir Chavis, 6’3, PG, Park Center (MN), 2024
The best point guard in the state of Minnesota showed it yet again at the Concordia St. Paul Holiday Classic, dropping 24 points and 7 assists in a dog fight against Minnetonka. “Cash” can simply get into the lane at will, is an elite finisher with creativity at the rack, and is arguably the best on ball defender in the backcourt in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Heading to Washington next year, Chavis’ explosiveness on both ends and ability to put pressure on the rock will allow him to receive minutes from day one.

Isaac Asuma, 6’3, PG/SG, Cherry HS (MN), 2024
The leader of the back to back defending Minnesota A champs played to his reputation, showing the massive potential that he has as a two-way guard. Asuma used his length to create a ton of deflections, showed off an improved first step, and played above the rim on both ends of the floor. Already signed with Minnesota, Gophers head coach Ben Johnson was in the building to check out his future combo guard throughout the event.

Jaleel Donley, 6’2, PG, Benilde St. Margaret’s (MN), 2025
Perhaps the fastest player end to end in the state of Minnesota, Donley changed the game on both ends with his blazing speed at the CSP Holiday Classic. The lefty is an absolute blur in transition, is a superb passer with both hands, and uses his freakish athleticism to consistently finish above the rim over the top of the defense. Still wide open in terms of his recruitment, Minnesota’s best junior guard is beginning to receive high major interest and should continue to running with Howard Pulley in the EYBL.

Jordan Cain, 6’3, SG, Minnetonka HS (MN), 2024
Another one of the better unsigned guys left on the board, Cain is the absolute model of productivity and consistency for an outstanding Minnetonka team. Cain is an elite cutter, is absolutely fearless attacking the rim (especially going right), and is continually improving as a jump shooter. Toss in the fact that he is a big time defender and it’s easy to see why there’s so much intrigue surrounding Cain for the late signing period.

Owen Waldoch, 6’6, PF, Forest Lake HS (MN), 2024
In one of the bigger upsets of the event, Forest Lake knocked off back to back state champion Cherry in the opening game of Thursday’s play at Concordia St. Paul, and much of that was due to the play of Owen Waldoch. Waldoch has good footwork, a really nice touch facing the basket, and shows promise as a facilitator from the power forward spot. Heading to host Concordia St. Paul, the new age forward will have the potential to make an immediate impact with his inside/out play.

City of Palms: Star Stock-Risers! http://www.ebooksnet.com/city-of-palms-star-stock-risers/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/city-of-palms-star-stock-risers/#respond Thu, 21 Dec 2023 21:30:36 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=274064 Big Names, Rising Stock!

The post City of Palms: Star Stock-Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The 50th annual City of Palms Classic jumped off Monday in Ft. Myers, Fla., bringing together the nation’s biggest collection of five-star talent all together under one roof. For this piece, many of these players have the talent to eventually become five-star recruits, but they aren’t sitting at that level in the rankings now and are still a bit under-rated nationally.

While there was more of a focus on local teams on day three, a number of players certainly saw their stock rise at the City of Palms Tourney:

Darius Acuff Jr., 6’2, PG, IMG Academy (FL), 2025
While Acuff Jr. is already a very highly touted player, performances like the one he had against back to back defending state champion Richmond Heights are what will lock him up as a McDonald’s All American and put him right there as the top point guard in class of 2025. Always known for his scoring prowess, Acuff Jr. was a one-man press break, killed defenders with his change of speed, and was a more than willing facilitator. His 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists (I think that number was a tad low) in a mere 21 minutes don’t even begin to tell the story of the impact that he had on the game. The son of former Eastern Kentucky guard Darius Acuff already has had a storied career, leading Detroit Cass Tech to their first ever state title as a sophomore last season.

Caleb Holt, 6’6, SG/SF, Buckhorn HS (AL), 2026
It’s hard to say that a player ranked in the top-5 by everyone nationally raised his stock, but given the fact that many haven’t seen Holt at the national level, he certainly did. Holt’s family has been very adamant about slowing down the process and focused on development rather than exposure early in his career since I first saw him at the varsity level as an eighth grader. The explosive athlete was a catalyst for Buckhorn, finished above the rim in transition, and defended virtually every position to tune of 21 points and eight rebounds in limited minutes.

Kayden Mingo, 6’1, PG, Long Island Lutheran (NY), 2025
While scoring machine VJ Edgecombe certainly paced the way, Mingo was the catalyst for Long Island Lutheran’s two quality wins thus far at City of Palms. The heady lead guard is leading EYBL Scholastic League in scoring, is an absolute blur in transition, and picked up a Wake Forest offer today with his play. Posting averages of 17 points and five steals per game, Mingo certainly solidified himself as a high major point guard this week.

Travis Perry, 6’2, PG, Lyon County High School (KY), 2024
Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer certainly showed that he could hold his own against elite competition, dropping 30 points against future McDonald’s All American Cam Scott at City of Palms. The volume shooter is an extremely confident 3-point shooter (especially in transition), is a nice rebounder from the backcourt, and has super quick hands as an on ball defender. Perry surprised many with his commitment to Kentucky as they jumped in his recruitment relatively late, but the Big Blue Nation has certainly welcomed him with open arms.

Jeremy Wilson, 6’5, PF, Richmond Heights HS (OH), 2024
There are some dudes who have no fear no matter who they play, and Wilson was that guy against national power IMG Academy at City of Palms. Wilson had no problem mixing it up in the paint, was Richmond Heights’ best interior defender, and showed some versatility on the offensive end. While not a name nationally, Wilson is certainly an impact player for Ohio’s back-to-back defending state champions.

The 50th annual City of Palms Classic jumped off Monday in Ft. Myers, Fla., bringing together the nation’s biggest collection of five-star talent all together under one roof. While many were focused on the likes of Cooper Flagg, Tre Johnson, and 2023 Mr. Basketball USA Cameron Boozer, there were a number of other players who really helped themselves throughout the event. For this piece, many of these players have the talent to eventually become five-star recruits, they aren’t sitting there in the rankings now and are still a bit under the radar or under ranked nationally.

Here are a number of players who certainly saw their stock rise day two at the City of Palms Tourney:
Keiner Asprilla, 7’1, C, Don Bosco Prep (NJ), 2026
It was my first time seeing the Colombian big man and he certainly showed why he’s one of the country’s next gems down the road. He absolutely dominated the paint against an athletic McEachern (GA) team, grabbing rebounds with two hands above the rim and providing a formidable shot blocking presence. The Co-MVP of the prestigious Pangos All Frosh/Soph East camp also showed an advanced offensive game for a young big, ultimately finishing with 12 points and 14 rebounds in Don Bosco's big 76-50 win over McEachern (GA).

Darren Williams, 6’2, PG, Archbishop Ryan (PA), 2024
The catalyst for a tough Philly team that came into the event ranked No. 46 in the FAB 50, Williams definitely showed that he can hold his own against one of the nation’s finest teams in Christopher Columbus. The lefty playmaker showed off blazing speed, has nice range, and constantly kept defense on toes with ability to change directions. Headed to Florida Gulf Coast, Williams has ability to make immediate impact, exhibited by his 16 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals at City of Palms.

Alex Lloyd, 6’4, SG/PG, Westminster Academy (FL), 2025
A player who I’d seen before he ever played a high school game, I think people outside of the state of Florida forget how much Alex Lloyd brings to the table. Lloyd is an outstanding on ball defender, great cutter, and has really improved as a playmaker. The Nightrydas combo guard finished with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, showing why he’s a priority for virtually every high major in Florida.

Alier Maluk, 6’10, C, Long Island Lutheran (NY), 2025
A name well knownst amidst recruiting circles since early in his freshman year, people sometimes forget how good Alier Maluk actually is. The Florida State bound big was a much more willing roller/lob threat, played with more energy than he has in the past, and still maintained his presence as a 3-point threat. The native of South Sudan finished with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 assists in a blowout win.

Jaxon Richardson, 6’5, SG/SF, Christopher Columbus HS (FL), 2026
Playing for one of the best teams in the nation in Miami’s Christopher Columbus, ranked No. 7 in the FAB 50, minutes aren’t necessarily plentiful at times. In Columbus’ 73-38 victory at City of Palms, it was great to get an extended look at guys like Jaxon Richardson. The sophomore is an absolutely absurd athlete who is elite in transition, is a great cutter, and has shown flashes of dominance on the perimeter defensively. The son of a former NBA 20 PPG scorer Jason Richardson is certainly making moves to follow in his father’s footsteps.

D.J. Wimbley, 6’7, SF/PF, Westminster Academy (FL), 2025
One of the more versatile players that we saw at City of Palms was D.J. Wimbley. Able to play and defend inside/out, Wimbley is a rangy athlete, produces at a high rate, and showed great lateral quickness defending on the perimeter. Wimbley’s father (Dwayne Wimbley Sr.) was a 6-foot-9 forward for Miami in the 90’s, so the genetics are certainly in line for the high major forward to continue growing.

Sinan Huan, 7’0, C, Windermere Prep (FL), 2026
It was my first time watching the highly touted Chinese product and it was easy to see what the hype was about. The lefty big man ran the floor well, finished above the rim, and showed intriguing touch facing the rim. Huan had an outstanding performance for China’s U-16 National Team this past summer and piggybacked at City of Palms with 11 points and six rebounds on Tuesday.

Emptying out the notebook from an absolutely loaded EIBC event, there were easily 60-75 D1 players who I evaluated throughout the weekend, with many still flying under the radar at prep schools scattered throughout the country. The event offered no shortage of size on the block, freakish athletes on the perimeter, and guards who could straight up get buckets from anywhere on the court. Many of these players saw their profiles rise immediately after the event after playing on such an outstanding platform.

Founded by BFL Prep head coach Barry Jones, the EIBC provides a platform that offers not just convenience, but elite competition for prep schools throughout the nation. Rather than traveling across the country to play just one or two games, the EIBC offers programs the opportunity to play four games in four days each month at one central location throughout the country. Additionally, it makes things far easier for players to get exposure from both college coaches and scouts since there are more than a dozen legit prep schools all under one roof. The first session was hosted by Colorado Prep just outside of Denver, and did not disappoint in terms of talent.

Here are some of the players who certainly raised their stock from session one:

Arafan Diane, 7’0, C, Dynastie Institute (CAN), 2026
A player who I hadn’t seen prior to the event, Arafan Diane showed that he is undoubtedly one of the best traditional centers that high school basketball has to offer. Owning a massive frame and long arms, Diane uses every bit of his 7-foot body to physically wear down defenders, has an incredibly soft touch finishing around the rim, and showed great IQ making decisions out of double teams. Arafan led Guinea to the 2023 FIBA Africa 16u championship with dominant averages of 17 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and three blocks per game and is certainly carrying over that type of production in the EIBC.

Jalik Dunkley, 6’7, SF, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2024
Arguably the best athlete in the event, Jalik Dunkley changed the game on both ends of the floor with his jaw dropping bounce. The super agile athlete used his fluidity to defend all over the hardwood, was near impossible to stop going downhill, and showed glimpses as a spot up three point shooter. Dunkley is considered by some to be the best wing in Canada’s 2024 class and is a no brainer high major prospect.

Tristan Beckford, 6’5, SF, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2025
The most explosive athlete in the junior class that the EIBC brought to the table was definitely Tristan Beckford. The Canadian swingman is an elite cutter, utilizes his 40-plus inch vertical on both ends of the floor, and really knows how to pick his spots offensively. Putting up performances of 18 PTS/15 REB, 19 PTS/11 REB/3 STL/3 BLKS, and 20 PTS/8 REB/5 ASST/3 STL throughout the weekend against elite competition, it is easy to see why Beckford will soon be one of the hottest names in Arizona’s 2025 class.

JoJo Muyo, 5’10, PG, Edge School (CAN), 2024
The most outstanding player for session one of the EIBC, JoJo Muyo certainly showed that he could hold his own against many of the nation’s best. The super speedy point guard averaged 20.7 points and 6.4 assists for an Edge Prep team that went 4-0 throughout the weekend. Playing in both the EIBC and The Grind Session will offer no shortage of exposure for Muyo, who is still wide open in terms of recruitment.

Deshawn Gory, 6’6, SG, Red Rock Academy (NV), 2025
DeShawn Gory brought one of the more electric single game performances to the EIBC, dropping 28 points (6 3PT), six rebounds, and three assists in limited minutes in a big Red Rock Academy win. The lanky swingman is a very confident shooter, shows promise as a facilitator for others, and doesn’t appear to be done growing. Still floating a bit under the radar, the Cali native is assuredly a name that you will see associated with high major programs sooner rather than later.

Linus Holmstrom, 6’3, SG, Colorado Prep (CO), 2024
Another International prospect who I hadn’t heard of who really stood out was Swedish guard Linus Holmstrom of Colorado Prep. An electric shooter with his feet set, Holmstrom also showed that he has an explosive first step and is a really nice straight line driver if you close out on him too hard. Starting for Sweden’s 18U National Team, Holmstrom already has quite the reputation in Europe and is beginning to cultivate one here in the states at Colorado Prep.

Christian Jones, 5’11, PG, BFL Prep (WA), 2025
One of the faster lead guards that the EIBC brought to the table, Christian Jones was the catalyst for BFL Prep. While he may not be the biggest guy, Jones was essential creating shot opportunities for his BFL teammates with his innate ability to not only get into the paint, but also maintain a presence on the floor as a 3-point threat himself. The Houston native runs with JL3 on the EYBL circuit and already holds numerous D1 offers.

Adrien Isaac, 6’11, C, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2027
One of the youngest players to see considerable time in the EIBC, Adrien Isaac showed why there has been considerable buzz surrounding him on the West Coast. The lefty has outstanding touch facing the basket, is an intriguing passer, and showed he can finish above the rim against older competition. Isaac already owns an offer from Arizona State and is one of the better 2027 bigs on the West Coast.

While we are still waiting on high school basketball in my states throughout the country, prep schools have been locked and loaded on the hardwood for well over a month now. With no state associations governing them, many prep schools are able to start practicing the day their players step foot on campus, giving them a drastic advantage for not just the short term, but for the next level as well.

Enter the EIBC.

Founded by BFL Prep head coach Barry Jones, the EIBC provides a platform that offers not just convenience, but elite competition for schools throughout the nation. Rather than traveling across the country to play just one of two games, the EIBC offers programs the opportunity to play four games in four days each month at one central location throughout the country. Additionally, it makes things far easier for players to get exposure from both college coaches and scouts since there are more than a dozen legit prep schools all under one roof. The first session was hosted by Colorado Prep just outside of Denver, and did not disappoint in terms of talent.

Jason Asemota, 6’8, SF/PF, Hillcrest Prep (AZ), 2024
The most dominant scorer of the EIBC Session I was undoubtedly Jason Asemota of Hillcrest Prep. Standing a legit 6-foot-8, the consensus top-25 scorer showed that he’s the prototype for a new age forward in today’s game. The Boston native is a deadly 3-point shooter with his feet set (hit seven 3PT in one half), has shown promise defending multiple positions on the floor, and seemingly finds a way to hang nearly 30 points on the board every time he touches the floor. Headed to Baylor next year, Asemota has the size and talent to be an immediate impact player from the second he touches down in Waco.

JJ Mandaquit, 6’1, PG, Utah Prep (UT), 2025
Some guys play checkers whereas others play chess, and JJ Mandaquit is definitely a chess player. The headiest guard we saw at the EIBC, Mandaquit saw the game one pass ahead, utilized a change of speed to throw defenses off constantly, and made unique finishes off the wrong leg throughout the weekend. The USA Basketball lead guard is the next Filipino-American product to make a splash and will have his choice of virtually any school in the country.

Jovan Milicevic, 6’9, PF/C, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2024
One of my favorite players to watch throughout the weekend was Jovan Milicevic, a Canadian big who produces at an absurd rate. Certainly not the most athletic player in the EIBC, Jovan offers a feathery touch to the 3-point line, uses his sturdy body to create separation for his scoring moves on the block, and is a great positional rebounder. Toss in the fact that he can be used as a playmaking post player and you see why New Mexico locked up the Canadian big man early in the signing period.

Christian Gilliland, 6’2, PG/SG, Albuquerque Prep (NM), 2025
A player who I hadn’t seen prior to the event, Christian Gilliland was the most athletic guard that the EIBC had to offer. The Memphis native is a strong guard who can finish over the top of the defense with either hand, is an explosive slasher, and proved to be a really nice on ball defender. The Gateway Basketball Club combo guard will undoubtedly be one of the biggest stock risers that the EIBC has to offer.

Paul Osaruyi, 6’9, PF, Canyon International Academy (AZ), 2027
While he didn’t put up huge numbers throughout the weekend, Paul Osaruyi left no doubt that he’s one of the nation’s elite players in the class of 2027. Blessed with an outstanding frame, the Canadian big man showed promising range as a 3-point shooter and changed the game on both ends of the floor with his freakish athleticism. Having made a huge impact for the Canadian U-16 team, Osaruyi has firmly established himself in the conversation for the top player in the class of 2027.

Cole Bekkering, 6’5, SG, Edge Prep (CAN), 2025
As far as straight snipers are concerned, Cole Bekkering firmly established himself as one of the premier shooters in the class of 2025 at the EIBC. He can shoot it on the move going either way, has a quick release, and has no shortage of confidence shooting the ball from NBA range. Bekkering has also made a huge impact in the NorthPoleHoops National Prep Association in Canada, showing his impact on both sides of the border.

Josiah Sanders, 6’4, PG/SG, Colorado Prep (CO), 2025
One of the more physical guards in the EIBC, Josiah Sanders used his strong frame to consistently finish through contact all weekend long for Colorado Prep. The lefty owns a great change of pace, is a sneaky athlete, and utilizes his strength to defend a number of positions on the defensive end. Already owning an offer from Northern Colorado, their staff was in attendance to watch Sanders again throughout the weekend.

Meet Erick Dampier Jr. http://www.ebooksnet.com/meet-erick-dampier-jr/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/meet-erick-dampier-jr/#respond Sat, 11 Nov 2023 19:35:10 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=273548 Coming To A Gym Near You!

The post Meet Erick Dampier Jr. appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In recent years, we have seen many former and current NBA players’ sons establish themselves in their own right. Bronny James, now at USC, obviously is going to be the most notable name, but there are a number of other players whose fathers you may have forgotten played in the league. Jaren Jackson Jr. (Jaren), Devin Booker (Melvin), Jabari Smith Jr. (Jabari), and Cole Anthony (Greg) are just a few names who were elite high school prospects with NBA fathers who ultimately made it to the league themselves.

While it’s quite early, Erick Dampier Jr. could be the next on that list.

Already standing every bit of 6-foot-9 and just beginning eighth grade, the younger Dampier has been donned the top player in the class of 2028 by many scouting services. For those who don’t remember, his father (Erick Dampier Sr.) was the No. 6 pick in the legendary 1996 NBA Draft, went to the NBA Finals twice, and made nearly $100 million in his career. With such gargantuan size and such a strong lineage, the pressure can be a bit much for a middle schooler.

“There’s pressure all the time,” Dampier Jr. told Ballislife at the MSHTV Camp in Indianapolis. “Everyone expects me to play good every single game because my dad was in the NBA.”

With the combination of size, skill, and lineage that Erick brings to the table, it's tough to imagine him playing against middle schoolers. In fact, that is why the Dampier family has decided to let the intriguing big man play varsity basketball as an eighth grader this upcoming season.

"I'm going to be playing varsity this year for Madison-Ridgeland Academy," Dampier quietly announced at the MSHTV Camp. "I think I will be able to help the team with my finishing, my shot blocking, and my rebounding."

Having gotten an extensive look at the Alabama Fusion big man in Indianapolis at MSHTV, we agree. At every bit of 6-foot-9 with a 7'0 plus wingspan, the eighth grader already possesses ideal size for a big man in today's game. Having made huge strides in the past year with his perimeter game, potential has been shown as a shooter when his feet are set, in addition to the powerful presence that he maintains with his back to the basket.

Defensively, the youngster blends his physical prowess with the ability to contain on the perimeter in drop coverage when guarding the perimeter. He will be an immediate impact player as a positional rebounder and shot blocking presence at the high school level in Madison, Miss. The humble Dampier is fully aware that there is still a long road ahead, though.

"I am still in middle school and I haven't made it anywhere yet, but my name has definitely gotten a lot bigger than it was two years ago," the soft spoken big man admitted. "It's been kind of crazy. I never thought that I would be here three years ago."

That it certainly has been, but the Dampier family has been very adamant about taking the process slowly. Sure, there have already been viral videos and number one rankings. Colleges have already been putting scholarship offers on the table, too. The family has been keeping all that away from Erick Jr. and are letting him remain a kid for as long as possible, as we saw at MSHTV where he posed for countless photos with his peers and played the game with a youthful sense of joy.

"The camp is going great so far," Dampier said of his time playing against many of the nation’s elite 2028 prospects at MSHTV. "I've met a lot of people I've never met before and talked to people I've never met"

While there has been considerable success against his peers, the entire Dampier family knows that while they have a talented youngster under their roof, there are still a number of variables left in the equation before the ultimate goal is achieved. With dad going through the full gauntlet or roles in the league as both a lottery pick and then an enforcer in the paint for the Mavs in the Finals, priceless knowledge is right there under his roof. Toss in an incredibly supportive mother who is just as motivational in a different way and you see why the cards are in his favor to reach his potential.

"I just hope to make it to the NBA," Dampier Jr. said. I want to have a successful career, and just live the life I've always dreamed to have."

Erick Dampier Jr. and his Madison-Ridgeland Academy (Jackson, Miss.) teammates open their 2023-2024 high school season on November 16.

Breakdown Fall League Top Performers! http://www.ebooksnet.com/breakdown-fall-league-top-performers/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/breakdown-fall-league-top-performers/#respond Wed, 25 Oct 2023 16:47:23 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=273175 Fall League Standouts

The post Breakdown Fall League Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
High school basketball is officially up on us. Prep school tournaments are already popping up all over the country with the start of regular season games while some states, such as Minnesota, aren't even able to officially practice yet. Some states won't begin practice until mid-November. This is where the Breakdown USA Fall League comes in.

Held at various locations throughout Minnesota, the Breakdown Fall League has the vast majority of the state's top programs playing in one of their events at some point throughout the fall. While the squads can't be coached by head coaches, the Breakdown Fall League still offers extremely competitive play and serves as a great opportunity to evaluate players from the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Here are a few of the standouts from the opening week of the Breakdown Fall League:

Casmir Chavis, 6’3, PG, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
The state’s best unsigned senior showed his ability to impact the game on both ends of the court at the Breakdown Fall League. Chavis is an exceptional on ball defender, collecting double digit steals in the two games combined on Sunday. He showcased his freakish athleticism with creative finishes at the rack, played through contact on both ends, and brought no shortage of infectious energy to Park Center. Having narrowed his list to Georgia, Arizona State, West Virginia, and Washington, the J-Sizzle playmaker will be announcing his college decision on November 3rd.

Jackson McAndrew, 6’9, SF/PF, Wayzata HS (MN), 2024
It’s been a wild year for Jackson McAndrew. The 6-foot-9 versatile forward won a state title for Wayzata, saw his stock skyrocket to the point that he is now a consensus top-50 recruit, and is the highest ranked player to sign with Creighton in recent memory. McAndrew is an effortless shooter both off the bounce and off the catch who knows how to utilize his size to create mismatches. The Howard Pulley senior also showed growth as a playmaker, initiating the offense countless times throughout the day. Overall, Jackson has had one of the highest ascensions of anyone in the class of 2024 over the past year and has certainly solidified himself as the front runner for Minnesota’s Mr. Basketball.

Christian Wiggins, 6’4, SG, Wayzata HS (MN), 2026
A transfer from Benilde St. Margaret’s, Christian Wiggins will benefit greatly playing alongside Jackson McAndrew in Wayzata’s open offense. Wiggins is one of the better shooters in the state, possessing effortless range and no shortage of confidence to let it fly. Having grown to 6-foot-4, his newfound height and added athleticism have taken him to a new level as a prospect, making him one of Minnesota’s very best in 2026.

Jackson Fowlkes, 6’5, SG, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
In today’s era when everyone wants shooters who can defend, Jackson Fowlkes is a hot commodity. He is outstanding playing out of dribble hand-offs, is a threat to shoot it anywhere out to 24 feet when his feet are set, and brings the versatility to defend a variety of positions. While Fowlkes has been on campus at a number of D1 schools, a college decision does not appear to be on the horizon anytime soon.

Tian Chatman, 6’3, PG, Totino-Grace (MN), 2026
In terms of the look test, Tian Chatman has everything one desires out of an ideal point guard prospect. He stands a legit 6-foot-3 with crazy length and possesses the ability to really distribute the rock with both hands. The younger brother of Ohio State lead guard Taison Chatman is one of the highest upside players in the class of 2026 that the state of Minnesota has to offer.

Jordan Cain, 6’3, SF, Minnetonka HS (MN), 2024
One of the state’s better unsigned seniors, Jordan Cain is the type of glue guy that colleges dream of. He can defend anywhere from the point guard to the power forward spot, brings an incredible amount of toughness to the court, and is fearless attacking the rim. Cain had a number of big games running with Howard Pulley on the AAU circuit and is bound for a monster senior campaign at Minnetonka.

Kevin Armstrong, 6’6, SF, Breck School (MN), 2024
As far as in state sleepers with upside are concerned, Kevin Armstrong is one of those guys who has definitely gotten the attention of college coaches. Armstrong has ideal size at a 6-foot-6, brings defensive versatility with his long arms (6’11 wingspan), and has shown serious flashes of being a knockdown three point shooter. The high academic senior has already stepped foot on campus at a number of Ivy League schools and will be an interesting name to follow in Minnesota during the late signing period.

Top Flight Invite Stock-Risers! http://www.ebooksnet.com/top-flight-invite-stock-risers/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/top-flight-invite-stock-risers/#respond Tue, 17 Oct 2023 04:44:01 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=272996 Elite Players Can Uptick!

The post Top Flight Invite Stock-Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
Established in 2020, The Border League provided high school players with a safe space to play in during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teams from all over the country whose state associations and local ordinances had shut down scholastic play flocked to Phoenix for a pre-season event that would serve as the only opportunity for many to play organized basketball until 2022. Now in its fourth year, The Border League has moved to Las Vegas and hasn’t missed a beat.

With hundreds of teams coming from throughout the nation, the Border League offers nine different divisions of play. The GEICO Top Flight Invite has all of its games televised on the ESPN family of networks and were all played in the main gym at Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). Given the abundance of talent spread throughout the event, for this piece we opted to focus on the players who raised their stock throughout the three-day event, whether it be through individual performance or simply surpassing expectations.

Here are a few of the players who helped themselves at the 2023 Border League Top Flight Invite:

Cooper Flagg, 6’9, PF, Montverde Academy (FL), 2024
In terms of efficiency, there wasn’t anyone who brought more than Flagg. Leading Montverde Academy to the Border League Top Flight Invite title, the Maine native did just about everything in his power to make that No. 1 spot in 2024 untouchable. In terms of rankings, he doesn't have anywhere to move up to, but that doesn't mean he can't or isn't working to improve his level of play. His improved 3-point shooting on a shot with ideal elevation just completely takes his game to another level when you consider his ability to constantly exploit mismatches on the offensive end and change the game defensively. The top player on the top team in the country will be heading home on January 5th/6th to play in the “Maine Event,” which will give his home state one final chance to see the best player ever to come out of The Pine Tree State. There is no doubt he could be this upcoming season's Mr. Basketball USA, even though the honoree from last season is back. Cooper was fourth in scoring at the event with a 19.0 ppg while converting an event best 22-of-29 field goal attempts (.759), including 5-of-7 3-pointers. ? ?

Cameron Boozer, 6’9, PF, Christopher Columbus HS (FL), 2025
While much of the incoming chatter of the weekend had been about A.J. Dybantsa, fans and scouts left talking about the remarkable performance that Boozer had in Las Vegas. Reaching the championship at the GEICO Top Flight Invite, Boozer paced Christopher Columbus (the only traditional high school amidst the final four) and lived up to his reputation. Boozer is underrated creating for others, is perfectly comfortable shooting out to the three point line, and still utilizes his size to punish defenders in the paint. While most have donned Dybantsa atop the class of 2025, Boozer (who just turned 16 three months ago) is doing everything in his power to reclaim that number one spot with his recent play. There is no doubt he is the most dominant and productive player in his class. He certainly can be the national player of the year once again. Boozer led the event in scoring (25.0 ppg) and rebounding (13.3 rpg).?

Quincy Wadley, 6’4, PG/SG, Bishop O’Connell (VA), 2026
Known as a top-25 player in the class of 2026, Quincy Wadley is a name that has been known within basketball circles for some time. However, he is rapidly disproving the nation that he is merely a shooter. Wadley was outstanding running the show for Bishop O’Connell, controlling the offense as a playmaker while also maintaining his presence as a scoring threat from the perimeter. The son of former Temple All A-10 guard Quincy Wadley not only has a chance to follow in his father’s footsteps as an elite player, but surpass them. Wadley was third in the event in scoring (19.7 ppg) behind Boozer and LABC's Trent Perry (20.3 ppg).?

Derrion Reid, 6’7, SF/PF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2024
Similar to some of the other five star players, it’s hard to really raise your stock, but Derrion Reid undoubtedly locked up his spot in the McDonald’s All American Game with his play at The Border League. The versatile forward showed an improved 3-point shot, was exceptionally active as a cutter/offensive rebounder, and used his agility to defend virtually every position. Reid has narrowed his list to Alabama, Florida State, and Georgia, all of which run systems conducive to a player of his skill set. From start to finish, he was Prolific Prep's best all-around player.?

Asa Newell, 6’9, PF, Montverde Academy (FL), 2024
It’s hard to imagine a player ranked in the top-15 by virtually everyone raising his stock, but when you consider that Asa Newell didn't even start for Montverde Academy last season, it’s certainly possible. Newell brought so much energy to the Border League on both ends of the floor with his ability to rim run, keep plays alive, and change the game with his versatility defensively. The lefty showed increased range and after starring on the New Balance circuit with 1 Family, has decided to narrow his list of schools to Alabama, Gonzaga, Georgia, and Texas. Newell was second in rebounding at the event behind Boozer at 10.0 rpg and ahead of teammate Cooper Flagg (8.7 rpg).?

Sammie Yeanay, 6’8, PF, AZ Compass Prep (AZ), 2024
A player whom I had only seen on one setting coming into the weekend, Yeanay helped himself as much as anyone in the Top Flight Invite. Playing with a high motor, the Florida native was an elite interior passer, ran the floor exceptionally well, and kept a ton of plays alive with his presence on the glass on both ends. Yeanay took an official visit to Florida last week and recently narrowed his list to eight schools.

Winters Grady, 6’6, SF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2025
Every elite team needs a role player, and Grady is exactly that guy for Prolific Prep. Far from merely a shooter, the Oregon product offers flexibility on the defensive end, is an outstanding cutter, and does a great job relocating to open spaces. The best player at the Crossroads Elite Invitational took on a new role at Prolific, but still showed the intangibles that will make him a high major prospect.

Ryder Elisaldez, 6’1, PG/SG, Bishop Gorman (NV), 2024
Amidst a rebuilding effort for Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman, Elisaldez showed that he could hold his own with the nation’s finest. Ryder is an explosive athlete who can play both guard spots, is a competitive defender, and has shown the ability to finish with creativity in traffic. Having played for the Mexican National Team at youth levels, Elisaldez has the potential to be an immediate impact player at UC San Diego.

Jadyn Harris, 6’6, SF, Bishop O’Connell (VA), 2024
Ten years ago, Jadyn Harris would have been considered a “tweener”. In today’s era of basketball, he is a “do-it-all” forward. Able to play both inside and out, Harris brings the versatility that college coaches dream of. He is a capable 3-point shooter, outstanding interior passer, and brings the toughness to defend a multitude of positions. Toss in that he is a great rebounder from the perimeter and you see why the Team Durant product is one of the best players left on the board in the DMV.

Randy Smith, 6’3, PG/SG, Christopher Columbus HS (FL), 2024
Making the transfer from Palmetto HS (FL), Smith is finding his role with the defending state champions, but has immediately made his impact. He is a sturdy guard who is a physical defender, is an outstanding rebounder from the backcourt, and can finish through contact against anyone. Still wide open in terms of his recruitment, Randy will undoubtedly have no shortage of opportunities to showcase his talent playing at Christopher Columbus.

]]>
For over 20 years, Breakdown Sports has been the authority for Minnesota scholastic high school events. Whether it be high school events, fall leagues, or summer events, Breakdown always offers events that are not only loaded with talent, but are exceptionally organized. The Breakdown Premier League is no different.

Held at legendary Hopkins High School (home to the likes of Kris Humphries, Royce White, Zeke Nnaji, Amir Coffey, Paige Buckers, and more), the Premier League ran for two weeks and provided an opportunity for many of the state's top teams to get some preseason run in. There was no shortage of talent in the gym (both in terms of teams and individually), and here are a few of the players who left their mark on the 2023 Breakdown Premier League.

Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, 6'7, SF, Totini-Grace HS (MN), 2024
There may not be a player in Minnesota who has improved himself more in the past year and a half than Johnson-Arigu, and it showed yet again at this event. Johnson-Arigu is the epitome of a power wing, using his versatility to initiate the offense and defend countless positions, yet uses his ridiculous frame to punish defenders anytime that he gets into the paint. The son of a trainer, Isaiah uses his outstanding footwork on both ends and is an essential piece in a loaded Miami class.

Jayden Moore, 6'0, PG, Hopkins HS (MN), 2026
The true definition of a catalyst, Moore showed why he's not only the best 2026 point guard in Minnesota, but one of the best in the nation for the sophomore class. Having played varsity since seventh grade, he has an inmate poise on the hardwood similar to that of a college player. Moore constantly is one pass ahead, is learning to make defenses pay on going under screens on him with his jumper, and infects others with his cerebral play. Moore has already been on campus a number of times at Minnesota, but also holds offers from Illinois, Baylor, and West Virginia.

Daniel Freitag, 6'2, PG/SG, Breck School (MN), 2024
After briefly deciding to attend Southern Cal Academy, Freitag is back in the Land of 10,000 Lakes for his senior campaign and is making huge strides as a playmaker. The freak athlete was exceptionally patient with his changes of speeds, made high level passes to cutters/shooters, and was a threat to turn the corner every time he was in ball screens. Despite being the top wide receiver in the state of Minnesota, Freitag has committed to Wisconsin for basketball instead.

Chace Watley, 6'2, PG/SG, Totino Grace HS (MN), 2025
Playing for an absolutely loaded high school team, not everyone is going to put up huge numbers and sometimes you just have to wait your turn to get your shine on. With Top 50 2023 point guard Taison Chatman on campus at Ohio State, it is now Watley 's turn to run the show for the two-time defending state champion Totino-Grace. The explosive lefty was outstanding finishing through contact, defended both backcourt spots, and played with a confidence we hadn't seen before out of him last Sunday.

Chiang Ring, 6'8, PF/C, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
The best shot blocker in Minnesota lived up to his billing at the Breakdown Premier League, totally controlling the interior this past Sunday. Ring showed off his outstanding timing, played with verticality, and moved his feet on the perimeter well enough to contain in space defensively. While defense is certainly his calling card at this point, Chiang has also shown long term potential as a lob threat and corner 3-point shooter. After seeing his recruitment hit a stalemate for a bit, Ring picked up nearly a dozen D1 offers after his play with J-Sizzle on the adidas 3SSB circuit.

Miles Newton, 6'4, SG/SF, Breck School (MN), 2025
While he isn't the biggest name in the state of Minnesota, Newton is the type of guy who college coaches need to be aware of. The angular wing shot the ball well from three, used his length to defend a variety of spots, and displayed really nice vision as an off the ball playmaker. Running with Howard Pulley in the EYBL, Newton is a name that you will assuredly be hearing more of.

Introducing Lincoln Cosby http://www.ebooksnet.com/introducing-lincoln-cosby/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/introducing-lincoln-cosby/#respond Fri, 06 Oct 2023 17:57:35 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=272747 14-Year Old Making Big Splash!

The post Introducing Lincoln Cosby appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The country is going to soon learn about 6-foot-9 Lincoln Cosby, the 14-year old phenom who is set to take grassroots basketball by storm.

Lincoln Cosby has ascended faster than anyone in the national high school class of 2027. Still relatively unknown even 15 months ago, things have come quickly for the tantalizing 6-foot-9 wing. Still just 14 years old at the moment, he was the first freshman and youngest player ever to sign with Overtime Elite. His basketball journey has taken him from Tennessee to Ohio and now to Atlanta. The latest stop in his journey took him to the recent MSHTV Camp in Indianapolis, but he doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon.

“My basketball journey kind of kicked off in Nashville. It was kind of short lived because we moved a couple of years after that and I couldn’t really find a team. I was bouncing around from team to team in Ohio,” the well spoken Cosby told Ballislife of his journey. “About a year ago, my notoriety started to kick off. My name started to get out there and I started being recognized by a lot of the ranking websites as a top-five guy in the country. I got recognized by OTE due to my consistent performance and upside.”

Considered by many to be the top player in the class fo 2027 nationally, he certainly didn’t disappoint at MSHTV. Lincoln’s combination of inside-out play makes him an extreme mismatch, especially with the 15 pounds he’s gained since attending Overtime Elite. Naturally, the growth that he made allowed him to take over in Indianapolis, telling us, “I have loved every single moment of it. I have been getting way better and I have really been able to see this playing against guys my age this weekend.”

Having participated in the OTE Pro Day that was attended by nearly 100 college coaches and NBA scouts, Cosby showed his ridiculous ceiling. In fact, Ballislife’s Ani Umana deemed him the highest upside player of the event. His showing in front of some of the biggest names in basketball didn’t come without jitters, though.

"At first, before the pro day, I wasn’t really nervous. When I got out there and saw all the college/NBA coaches in the stands, I was definitely nervous,” admitted Lincoln of his experience at the OTE Pro Day. “I wouldn’t say that it affected my performance that much, but I definitely had butterflies in my stomach throughout the workout."

Enjoying his new home in downtown Atlanta, the swingman has fully embraced everything that the city has to offer from the culture to being able to have 24-hour access to the gym. While there were initially some concerns with the Cosby family about sending their son away at such a young age, there is a super support system in place and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he became one of the guys trying to get all of his peers to OTE down the road.

“My family and I had some concerns with me being a freshman and the youngest one there. Ultimately, we looked at things long term and trusted the process,” the well spoken freshman explained. “I’m getting way better there with the resources they have. It’s off the chain. No school in the country can compete with what OTE has to offer me, so I feel like it’s going to maximize the potential staying there for all four years.”

The combination of resources, a new culture, and a new city seem to have made Cosby the perfect fit as the first freshman to ever sign with Overtime Elite. The progress that he has made in such a short time has followed, as he’s happy to elaborate on.

“My shot has really improved because I’m shooting the NBA three every day. Here [at MSHTV Camp] the high school line feels like a mid-range jumper or even a layup,” he added. I’ve gained like 15 pounds since I’ve been in Atlanta. I’ve gotten much, much stronger. I feel like from a physical aspect that my game has gone through the roof.”

The post MSHTV Camp: Top 2027s! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
Over 450 of the nation’s top ballers descended upon Pacers Athletic Center for the eighth annual MSHTV Camp. With top players in every class in the building, battles were had, rankings shifted and unknown names became viral internet sensations.

While the vast majority of the biggest names in youth basketball were in attendance, the MSHTV Camp in Indianapolis also boasted many lesser known players from 40 different states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Some experts projected the camp to have nearly 100 DI prospects by the time that it is all said and done, but there’s still plenty of time for things to sort themselves out.

Here’s a look at what the top freshmen (Class of 2027) had to offer:

Lincoln Cosby, 6’9, SF, Overtime Elite
The first freshman ever to sign with Overtime Elite, Lincoln Cosby lived up to the hype at MSHTV. Having measured 6-foot-9 in front NBA scouts at the recent Overtime Elite Pro Day, the Cincinnati native has the physical profile that people dream of out of a new age forward. The lefty is an explosive athlete who has shown flashes of NBA three point shooting range along with the ability to play inside-out. Cosby has been letting the process come naturally in terms of college recruitment, but is considered by some to be the top player in the class nationally and will have no shortage of suitors.

Jahari Miller, 6’3, PG/SG, Overtime Elite
Jahari Miller has a refined game and was a walking bucket at the 2023 MSHTV Camp. The Indianapolis native has been playing at a high level for quite some time, both on the AAU circuit and recently in front NBA scouts at the Overtime Elite Pro Day. It is not a coincidence that Jahari played 17U George Hill All Indy throughout the spring that he was easily able to get buckets against players his own age at MSHTV. He blends an advanced skill set with a strong frame, making him tough to stop for any freshman at the camp.

Bryce Curry, 6’3, SG, Lakota West HS (OH)
As far as guards in the Midwest are concerned, there aren’t many that you’ll find that are more athletic than Bryce Curry. The super creative finisher had more dunks than any guard throughout the camp, showed off intriguing court vision, and was a walking bucket any time that he had the rock. Curry already has numerous high major offers and will be running with Phenom United on the AAU circuit.

Henry Robinson Jr., 6’7, SF/PF, Matanzas HS (FL)
One of the higher long term upside players in the camp, Henry Robinson Jr. was a walking mismatch who is gaining more confidence by the day. Having made massive improvements over the past year, he is a new age forward who can beat you off the bounce, yet also utilizes his size in the paint. His best attribute may be his defense though, as Robinson has no problems defending in space on the perimeter. He runs with Nightrydas on the AAU circuit and will be playing for his father on the high school ranks.

Precious Sam, 7’0, C, Louisville Ballard (KY)
The biggest player that the camp had to offer also showed the ability to produce at a high rate. Owning a massive frame that will assuredly fill out, the ability to run the floor, and no short of punishing dunks, it’s easy to see why there’s already so much buzz around him in the Bluegrass State. In fact, both Florida State and Missouri have already put scholarships on the table for him due to his massive potential.

Antonio Baymon Jr., 6’0, PG, Southern Coast Academy (FL)
Arguably the shiftiest guard in the 2027 group, Antonio Baymon Jr. has no problem electrifying the crowd with his ridiculous ability to change speeds. Baymon had great burst, was a confident shooter, and used his sturdy body to finish through contact at the rim. Originally from Anderson (Ind.), Antonio will be making the move to Florida to play his high school ball.

Jaxen Baker, 6’1, PG, Ursuline Lancers (CAN)
A player I was not familiar with going into the camp, Jaxen Baker came into the MSHTV Camp with a chip on his shoulder, dominating the opening game of the morning en route to a top-20 all star selection. Baker is a creative scorer off the bounce who utilizes his change of pace to create separation for his shot. Given the massive amount of talent north of the border, Baker should be a name that you hear from in the future.

Stellar Hoops Elite 60 Standouts! http://www.ebooksnet.com/stellar-hoops-elite-60-standouts/ http://www.ebooksnet.com/stellar-hoops-elite-60-standouts/#comments Tue, 19 Sep 2023 21:53:08 +0000 http://www.ebooksnet.com/?p=272482 Best From Charlotte-Based Event!

The post Stellar Hoops Elite 60 Standouts! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
With countless individual exposure events going on throughout the Southeast in the fall, it’s hard for parents and players alike to decide which events to attend. Ideally, the event will have outstanding media coverage (since D1’s are not permitted to attend non-scholastic events in the fall), a high level of competition, and a presence of college coaches from smaller colleges. Enter the Stellar Hoops Elite 60 National Camp.

Director Wayne Davis puts on an invite-only event just after the school year jumps off that largely focuses on elite underclassmen and sleepers. The 2023 fall edition had both. Guys such as Michigan State swingman Coen Carr (who shut down the 2023 Ballislife All American Game dunk contest), Isaiah Miranda (Oklahoma State’s most sought after recruit), future Duke swingman Isaiah Evans, Overtime Elite monster Somto Cyril (committed to Kentucky), and more are just a few to have graced the court before they blew up. There was no shortage of players who exhibited the potential to be in that next wave as well, as we saw in Charlotte this past weekend.

Here are the top performers from the fall Stellar Hoops Elite 60 National Camp:

Markus Kerr, 6’4, SG, JL Chambers HS (NC), 2026
The most highly touted player of the weekend, top-50 2026 Markus Kerr certainly lived up to his billing. The scoring guard was an adept shot creator who had no problem creating separation off the bounce and scoring from deep, but also showed growth facilitating for others. Kerr is just starting his sophomore year, yet already owns numerous high major offers and will be right near the top of the 2026 class in North Carolina.

Nick Hailey, 6’6, SG, Providence Day School (NC) 2025
If one was to build the prototype for what a wing looks like in today's world, Nick Hailey certainly foots the bill. At a legit 6-foot-6 with good length, the lefty has some serious range and uses his ideal length to clamp down on multiple positions defensively. Hailey holds offers from Ole Miss and Western Carolina, but has also been hearing from the likes of Harvard, Appalachian State, and SMU as of late.

Zion Walker, 6’1, PG, The Burlington School (NC), 2024
In terms of productivity, there wasn’t a guard who did more than Zion Walker. The sturdy playmaker got to the rim at will, showed an outstanding change of pace, and finished with creativity at the rack with both hands. Walker has the potential to be an immediate impact player at Mount St. Mary’s.

Tarris Bouie, 6’5, SG/SF, JL Chambers HS (NC), 2026
There may not have been a player who helped himself more at the Stellar Hoops Elite 60 than Tarris Bouie. The lanky wing provides a presence on both ends of the floor, can finish above the rim in traffic, and showed potential as a shot creator. Immediately after the camp, Bouie picked up mid-major offers from Charlotte, High Point, and College of Charleston.

Bradley Floyd, 6’5, SG, Kings Mountain (NC), 2026
Bradley Floyed is another one of those guys who checks a number of boxes in terms of ideal physical tangibles for a young guard. The Kings Mountain sophomore is a scorer with size who can create shot opportunities off the bounce with limited dribbles and finish above the rim. Floyd owns numerous D1 offers on a list that will assuredly go running with a loaded Team United 2026 group.

Nolan Nelson, 6’7, PF, Creekside HS (FL), 2027
A player who I was not familiar with entering the event, Nolan Nelson left the Stellar Hoops Elite 60 as one of the higher long-term prospects. Exceptionally fluid on both ends, Nelson showed great agility, intriguing skills facing the rack, and the ability to play above the rim on both ends. Running with Nightrydas in the EYBL, Nolan Nelson is a name that you’ll be hearing about sooner rather than later.

Chris Eagan, 6’8, PF, Charlotte Catholic (NC), 2025
Chris Eagan brought a high level of productivity along with the perimeter skill set that you hope for out of a new age big at Stellar Hoops. The Team Curry lefty holds multiple D1 offers, has a very intriguing touch as a finisher, and is very comfortable scoring with his back to the basket. Still a bit under the radar, this could be one of the juniors that you start hearing from more often in the Tar Heel State.

Josh Tyson, 6’1, PG/SG, Lakota West HS (OH), 2027
Another intriguing freshman that the event had to offer was Cincinnati guard Josh Tyson. Tyson is a serious shooter who is good playing out of ball screens, can kill you with his hang dribble, and utilizes his chance of pace quite well. Having last seen him in September at the MSHTV Camp, Tyson has made huge strides and will be one of Ohio’s better 2027 guards.

The post Breakdown Sports USA Summer State Tourney Standouts! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
As a primer leading up to the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association Showcase that brought more than 100 college coaches to the Twin Cities to see the abundance of talent in the region, the Breakdown Sports USA group gave players a chance to get some run in with their high school teams to fine tune their respective skill sets at the Summer State Tournament. An invite only event, the Summer State brought the vast majority of the state's upcoming powers, along with the state’s most productive teams, all under one roof to crown preseason champions in their respective divisions.

Ranked in the Ballislife FAB 50 for most of 2022-23 season, Park Center cruised to the AAAA Summer State title, blending a mix of size, skill, and athleticism. Coach James Ware boasts a team that is led by 6-foot-3 Pangos All-American Camp attendee Casmir Chavis, 6-foot-5 3 and D swingman Jackson Fowlkes, and 6-foot-9 faceup center Chiang Ring. Park Center will certainly start the season as the favorite by many to win the state title, but it wasn’t the only team who put on a show at the Summer State Tournament.

Here are some of the standouts from the Breakdown Sports USA Summer State Tournament:

Jonathan Mekonnen, 6’7, SF/PF, Eastview HS (MN), 2024
One of the most intriguing players in Minnesota’s class of 2024, Mekonnen showed off the full bag at the Breakdown Summer State. The lefty had a ridiculous usage rate on the offensive end and numbers certainly followed. He is an outstanding straight line driver, utilizes spins to throw defenses off, and makes most of his athleticism on both ends of the floor. Mekonnen holds no shortage of mid-major offers with Power Five programs closely monitoring him.

Chiang Ring, 6’9, PF/C, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
Ring has been a name within Midwest basketball recruiting circles since he was freshman, but is still a guy who people are sleeping on a bit. The big man led Park Center to the AAAA Summer State title with the considerable impact he made on both ends of the floor. Ring is the best shot blocker in the state, really shot the ball well from the 3-point line with his feet set, and likely had more dunks than anyone in the event.

Isaac Asuma, 6’3, PG, Cherry HS (MN), 2024
One of the more decorated players in the state of Minnesota, Asuma led Cherry HS to the A Championship at Summer State. The two-way guard is showing infinitely more confidence as a 3-point shooter, has shown promise as an outstanding on ball defender, and is the epitome of leading by example with his style of play. Already committed to Minnesota, Asuma is going to be a key piece in the backcourt for Ben Johnson and the rebuilding Gophers squad.

Brady Wooley, 6’9, PF, Orono HS (MN), 2025
One of Minnesota’s hottest underclassmen, Wooley tantalizes you with the fluidity that he plays with on the court at nearly 6-foot-9. Wooley uses his agility to defend in space on the perimeter, create separation off the dribble, and plays above the rim on both ends of the court. Wooley is hearing from numerous big time programs, having already stepped foot on campus at both Minnesota and Iowa State.

Brayson Boike, 6’6, SF, Dawson-Boyd HS (MN), 2025
Playing in the smallest division in Minnesota, Boike is a truly special talent for Dawson-Boyd. However, at the Breakdown Summer State, he showed that he can play with anyone. At 6-foot-6, he brings positional versatility, employs his athleticism on both ends of the court, and is a developing three point shooter. Boike has heard from Utah, Nebraska, Colorado State, and around a dozen others in the past week.

Cedric Times, 5’11, PG, East Ridge HS (MN), 2026
For what Tomes lacks in stature, he certainly makes up with shooting range and confidence on the hardwood. The lead guard has some of the most effortless range in the state off the dribble, shows great patience in pick and roll play, and constantly throws defenders off with his different speeds. Tomes is just wrapping up his freshman season, but already has had high major programs such as Minnesota out to watch him.

Aidan Memene, 6’1, PG, Park Center HS (MN), 2024
Winning breeds talent development, and Memene seems to be the next player out of powerhouse Park Center who is going to breakout. He is a super shifty lead guard who is an elite finisher at the rack, picks his spots exceptionally well, and has already shown that he creates chaos as a defender. Memene has both the talent and opportunity to be a breakout player next season as a senior.

The post MN Gophers Team Camp Standouts! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
The University of Minnesota has gone through some changes. Richard Pitino is now at New Mexico and the B1G Ten program opted to hand the reigns to Ben Johnson, a Minneapolis native who was a double digit scorer for the Gophers himself. Rebuilding a program is always a tough endeavor, much less at a high major program in the NIL era. Johnson and his staff, however, managed to get the vast majority of the state’s top uncommitted talent on campus for the Minnesota team camp.

Held in a round robin format, each team played three games in front of the Gophers’ staff. Defending state champs played against one and other, intriguing young prospects had a platform to play in front of high major coaches outside of the NCAA live period, and no shortage of scholarships were gained throughout the one day shootout.

Here are a few of the players who stood out at the Minnesota Gophers Team Camp:

Jackson McAndrew, 6’9, PF, Wayzata HS (MN), 2024
The top senior in Minnesota went viral with his coast to coast play during the Minnesota state tournament and has rode that wave to a super strong spring, continuing at the Gophers team camp. The perimeter based forward made it a point to show off his refined post game, utilizing his size to shoot near unblockable fadeaways over smaller defenders. McAndrew showed off his effortless shooting range and with the way that he has played this spring with Howard Pulley in the EYBL, has catapulted to a Top 50 national ranking for the class of 2024.

Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, 6’7, SF/PF, Totino Grace (MN), 2024
Johnson-Arigu has been well known throughout the Land of 10,000 Lakes, but with the performance that he’s had the past year for state champion Totino-Grace and for D1 Minnesota on the 3SSB Circuit, he’s becoming a household name within recruiting circles as well. Johnson-Arigu is a powerful slasher who can finish through contact, has a frame that can easily fill out at the college level, and is continually improving as a 3-point shooter.

Jayden Moore, 6’0, PG, Hopkins HS (MN), 2026
Even though he just finished up his freshman season, Moore has firmly established himself as the best catalyst that the state of Minnesota has to offer, regardless of class. Moore truly excels at changing the tempo of the game and gaining extra possessions, both with the rock in his hands and moving it up the floor as a passer. The playmaker has been playing varsity basketball since the seventh grade and the cerebral floor game that he brings to the table certainly shows that. Moore plays up for the J-Sizzle 16U 3SSB team, holding offers from Baylor and West Virginia.

Jaedan Udean, 6’1, PG, DeLaSalle (MN), 2027
One of the toughest things to guard as a defender is a lefty who can create separation, and Udean is that type of player. Considered by many to be the top freshman in Minnesota, Udean scored double digits at Columbia Heights as an eighth grader before deciding to go to historic power DeLaSalle for his high school career.

Tyler Wagner, 6’5, SG/SF, Totino Grace (MN), 2025
In today’s game with an added emphasis on 3-point shooting, Wagner was the best shooter in Minnesota’s Athlete’s Village. He was outstanding relocating to open areas, had no shortage of confidence as a shooter, and was able to knock down 3-pointers with limited space.

Jayden Daisy, 6’5, SF, Benilde St. Margaret’s (MN), 2025
In today’s positionless game, Daisy offers the type of versatility that college coaches dream of. The powerful wing is fearless attacking the rack, has an automatic pull-up from mid-range, and brings the grit to defend multiple spots. Daisy has already heard from a number of programs, but as his 3-point shot continues to grow, his potential college suitors will follow.

Jordan Cain, 6’3, SG, Minnetonka HS (MN), 2024
There are dudes who “have that dog in them,” and Cain is certainly one of those dudes. Constantly in attack mode, Cain was outstanding as a slasher, finished through contact at the rim, and used his strong frame to defend four different positions at times on the court. The combination of motor, toughness, and ability to defend have made Cain one of Minnesota’s more interesting sleepers.

The post Pangos Camp: Stock Risers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
For the past 20 years, the Pangos All-American Camp has brought the nation’s finest players together under one roof, regardless of shoe affiliation. Players from Nike’s EYBL, Adidas’ 3SSB Circuit, the Under Armour Association, and Overtime Elite all competed against one and other, giving fans and scouts alike the necessary matchups in order to getting a better national pecking order of the nation's elite players. Pangos founder Dinos Trigonis ignored all of the party lines and brought the best together under one roof at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.

The 2023 Pangos All American Camp was filled with a “who’s who” of the grassroots basketball industry, but more importantly, offered the campers more exposure than any event in the nation. Scouts and executives from 27 NBA franchises were in the building developing profiles on players for upcoming NBA Drafts. 157 members of the media were credentialed, flooding every possible platform with content from the elite event. While college coaches were not allowed in the building due to NCAA rules, there was no shortage watching via the BallerTv broadcast. Given all those factors, there were a number of players who saw their stock rise at the conclusion of the event.

While there’s not much room for growth, 6-foot-9 big man Flory Bidunga made his case for the top spot nationally in the class of 2024. The Kokomo, IN product was simply punishing in the paint, combining his insane physician profile with a rapidly developing skill set. The Co-MVP of the camp averaged 13.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, but his impact went far beyond the box score. Bidunga totally controlled the interior as a defender and also showed considerable growth containing guards on the perimeter. Furthermore, the Congolese center shot an unimaginable 84 percent from the field, evidence of both his dominance in the paint and remarkable shot selection.

While Bidunga was the MVP of the bigs, 6-foot-5 Cam Scott played the best basketball of his life at the Pangos All-American Camp. Having played varsity since he was in middle school for Lexington HS (SC), he has been a household name in the Palmetto State, but is locking up his spot as a McDonald’s All American with his play this spring/summer. Scott was a walking bucket at Pangos, posting 25 points per game for the event on 65 percent shooting from the field and 56 percent from 3-point. The three level scorer runs with Team United in the EYBL and after narrowing his list, decided to hear from new suitors looking to jump in the mix.

Another backcourt player who turned heads at the Pangos All American Camp was 6-foot-4 Larry Johnson of SoCal Academy. The powerful combo guard is a big-time shot creator who is a truly special finisher with either hand at the rack and offers the ability to defend all three perimeter spots. He scored 25 points per game at Pangos and had there not been set substitution patterns, easily would have dropped 30-plus points per game. Johnson runs with Team Thad in the EYBL and is certainly trending towards at top-25 national ranking for the class of 2024.

Always known for his insane dunks, 6-foot-6 swingman Rakease Passmore of Combine Academy (NC) showed that he’s far more than a leaper. The rising senior has made considerable growth in his game over the past 12 months, specifically with his jumpshot (both from 3-point range and off the bounce). The combination of freakish athleticism, defensive versatility, and continually improving perimeter skills netted the Garner Road AAU product numerous new high major offers immediately after the camp.

A late invitee to the camp, 6-foot-3 Casmir “Cash” Chavis was the only Minnesota player at Pangos and held it down for the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The super athletic lead guard excelled in pick and roll play, was a super creative finisher at the rack, and shot an absurd 70 percent from a backcourt position. Chavis has been the leading scorer back to back years for J-Sizzle 17U on the adidas 3SSB Circuit and won a state title as a sophomore for Minnesota power Park Center.

There was a smaller sample size to choose from in the class of 2025 (it was a senior laden event), but one player who showed that he could hold his own with anyone was 6-foot-6 Hudson Greer. The rising junior from Lake Travis HS (TX) showed that he is far more than just a shooter, blending his above the rim finishes with a number of quick straight line takes to the rack. Lineage is certainly on his side was well, as his father (Josh) was a player at St. Mary’s during his time.

Representing the west coast, Tounde Yessoufou used his chiseled 210 pound frame to punish guys on both ends of the court. The St. Joseph’s (CA) junior was automatic with his pullup, finished at the rim through contact, and used his 6-foot-11 wingspan to wreak havoc on the defensive end. Tounde certainly lived up to the hype throughout the weekend, pushing towards top ten status in the class of 2025.

Staying with the wing position, Southern Durham (NC) rising junior Jackson Keith showed off his scoring arsenal at Pangos, especially on the final day. Keith had 22 points (8-9 FG, 4-4 3PT) via a flurry of deep jumpshots and athletic drives to the rack. The package of size, shooting, and ability to create off the bounce have made Jackson one of the top 2025 players in the Southeast.

Shon Abaev is another one of the swingmen who helped themselves in the latter part of the Pangos All-American Camp. The lefty from South Florida is an elite shot creator, can score with limited bounces, and is a threat to dunk on you when he gets it in transition. The Israeli forward has been putting up huge numbers for SOH Elite in the UAA for quite some time now, and will be doing the same for Calvary Christian (FL) as a junior.

Another Sunshine state perimeter player that stood out was 6-foot-0 point guard Jalen Reece. Running the show for Orlando powerhouse Oak Ridge, he has a basketball acumen that is far beyond his years and the IQ that he shows as a coach’s son is evident. Reece showed outstanding pace in pick and roll play, consistently had his head on a swivel to find rollers/shooters, and shot 48 percent from beyond the arc. Fresh off of an appearance at USA Basketball, college attention has followed, as Jalen has picked up three high major offers in the past month.

While there weren’t many freshmen in attendance at the Pangos All American Camp, 6 '8 Brannon Martinsen of Mater Dei HS (CA) certainly showed the potential to be next in line out of the California power. The new age forward played both inside and out while also showing off the ability to stretch the defense. Martinsen’s versatile play earned him a selection in the Top-60 game.

The post Crossroads Elite Invitational: Top Performers appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
One of the best independent underclassmen events in the country, the Crossroads Elite Invitational has made its mark in the grassroots community throughout the past decade. Held in Indianapolis, founder Adam Shoulders and his staff feverishly scout the nation looking for the top youngsters who have yet to hit the national radar, then provide them with the platform to get the exposure necessary. Players such as Michael Porter Jr., Brandon Miller, Darius Garland, Chet Holmgren, Kevin Knox, Gradey Dick, the Thompson twins, and more all donned the Crossroads Elite jersey far before they were household names in recruiting circles. The 2023 edition of the camp brought plenty more who will certainly follow their path.

The camp jumped off with a skills clinic led by USA Basketball Director of Youth Development Don Showalter. Showalter established a baseline for the expectations of the event, implementing team concepts with a number of player development drills. Games followed on Saturday, culminating with a unique all-star playoff series on Sunday that brought the top 80 players against one other in competitive fashion. New names came to the horizon, scholarships were earned, and the competition level was high throughout the weekend at Crossroads.

Here are a few of the standouts from the 2023 Crossroads Elite Invitational:

Niko Bundalo, 6’9, PF, Green HS (OH), 2025
One of the hottest rising juniors in the nation, NBundalo showed the inside-out game that college coaches dream of out of a new age forward. The lefty is a serious athlete who can defend multiple spots, is a serious creator from the perimeter, but also isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint. The blend of skill, production, and potential make him yet another special product in Ohio’s loaded 2025 class. Having gained over a dozen big time offers in the past month, things certainly don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon for Bundalo.

Lincoln Cosby, 6’8, SF, Lakota West HS (OH), 2027
As far as upside is concerned, Cosby is amidst the elite that the Crossroads Elite Invitational had to offer. The lefty is a ridiculous athlete, is completely comfortable facing the basket and going to work, and makes you forget that he’s a mere 14 years old. The Cincinnati product’s combination of offensive skill set, size, and athleticism set him atop of Ohio’s 2027 class.

Winters Grady, 6’6, SF, Lake Oswego HS (OR), 2025
The best player on the best team (champion team Darius Garland), Grady left quite the impression on scouts in attendance at the Crossroads Elite Invitational. The gritty wing can finish through contact when attacking, shot it well from beyond the arc, and was efficient scoring with limited bounces. Grady holds no shortage of mid-major offers and has began hearing from numerous PAC-12 schools over the past month.

Toni Bryant, 6’9, PF, North Tampa Christian (FL), 2026
There was considerable buzz surrounding Bryant coming into Crossroads and he certainly backed up the hype when his motor was running, both with his production and potential. The forward is an explosive leaper who can defend a number of spots, showed flashes of being a reliable three point shooter, and played above the rim on both ends. Immediately after the camp, Bryant received offers from Illinois and UNLV.

Howard Williams, 6’5, SG/SF, Whitney Young HS (IL), 2027
A player who I had heard a ton about but had yet to see in person, Williams certainly showed he was the truth at Crossroads. Owning great positional size at 6’5 (and not appearing to be done growing), the rising freshman was an explosive straight line driver, finished in the paint through contact, and has outstanding natural scoring instincts. Running with the Chi-Town Bulldogs and Meanstreets on the AAU circuit, Howard has the potential to be the next special wing out of the Windy City.

Stephen Brown, 6’7, SF/PF, Marist HS (IL), 2026
Brown was yet another Chicago player to bring a package of grit and high level play to Crossroads. The new age forward can play inside and out, maximizing his athleticism to make plays on both ends with switches. He scored when the opportunity presented itself, was unselfish to a fault at times, and kept his foot on the gas with his motor. The Mac Irvin Fire forward is still just 14 years old entering his sophomore year, offering scary potential down the road.

Elijah Perryman, 6’2, PG, Clayton Valley HS (CA), 2025
The catalyst from the championship Team Darius Garland squad, Perryman came from California and showed that he could hold his own with many of the best that the Midwest has to offer. The lanky playmaker had a number of high extension finishes at the rack, can make tough passes with either hand, and is a threat shooting the rock with his feet set. Still significantly under the radar, Perryman is a name that you’ll be hearing about on the west coast.

Aidan Cronister, 6’7, SF, Rogers HS (AR), 2026
A player who I was not familiar with leading into the event, Chronister certainly held it down for Arkansas at the Crossroads Elite Invitational. The lanky wing possesses a quick release from 3-point range, is agile enough to beat you off the bounce, and uses his length to provide a formidable presence on the defensive end. Already hearing from numerous high major programs, Chronister is one of the more interesting underclassmen on the New Balance PRO 16 Circuit.

Cameron Williams, 6’8, PF, Skyline Prep (AZ), 2026
The definition of all arms and legs, Williams showed his incredible long term potential at Crossroads Elite. The new age forward can play both inside and out, defends multiple positions, and was automatic shooting from mid-range. Williams has been working with renowned grassroots coach Paul Suber and is running with Vegas Elite in the EYBL.

Jaylen Gunther, 5’10, PG, Youngstown Ursuline (OH), 2027
As far as the deepest range in the camp, Gunther placed himself right there with anyone as far as shooting Trae Young-esque threes. The rising freshman is a high IQ lead guard, plays within himself, and cannot be left due to his shooting ability off of the catch and off the bounce. A coach’s son, Gunther certainly has all of the tools at his disposal to fulfill his potential to the highest level.

The post T3TV Battle Royale: Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
T3TV has firmly established itself as one of the best new age event companies the Midwest has to offer for the youth. Merging elite media coverage with a broad age group and some of the best teams from the region (and beyond), you’re always bound to find something at a T3TV event. For Memorial Day weekend, the T3TV Battle Royale brought teams from more than a dozen states to Ohio to prove who is next in line.

With elite young prospects such as A.J. Dybantsa, Jerry Easter, Marcus Johnson, and Latrell Almond all enhancing their top-25 reputations after strong showings at T3TV events, the opportunity is certainly there to gain some notoriety. Each team had to win at least five games to take home the crown, and there were a number of prospects who you will certainly be hearing from down the road (both in high school basketball and recruiting circles) who put on a show.

Here are some of the top performers from the 2023 T3TV Battle Royale:

Maceo Bronston, 6’8, PF/C, Nati Elite, 2027
While his team didn’t have quite as much success as they hoped for, Branston certainly proved to be one of the highest upside players that T3TV had to offer. The agile big man was great running the floor, had no problem defending the perimeter in short stretches, and was outstanding as a rim protector. Once you toss in the intriguing touch that he has facing the rack and the fact that he doesn’t appear to be done growing, you see why he’s one of the sleepers in Ohio’s ‘27 class.

John Johnson, 6’4, SG, Swish Parker Elite, 2027
If you were to track scoring for the 2027 group, I find it hard to believe that anyone dropped more buckets than Johnson in the eighth grade division. The super smooth wing initiated the offense at times, played with a constant level of aggression, and was a creative finisher at the rack. Johnson has the potential to be next in line from Canton, OH, which has produced the likes of C.J. McCollum, Kosta Koufos, top 5 2025 Darryn Peterson, and more.

Gabe Pridemore, 6’1, PG, Midwest Basketball Club, 2027
A player that I was not familiar with going into the event, Pridemore showed why he’s already created a bit of a buzz in his home state of Kentucky. He played the game with exceptional poise, was super crafty, and shot the lights out from deep. Already having played varsity as an eighth grader for Russell HS, Pridemore is a definite rising freshman to watch in the Bluegrass State.

Tre Parham, 5’10, PG, The Family, 2027
One of the most productive guards of the rising freshman division, Parham filled up the stat sheet in every game that we saw at T3TV. Parham continually put pressure on the defense any time that he had the rock, shot the ball well from the perimeter, and threw defenders off with his change of speed. Based on his level of play in Cincinnati, he appears to be one of the more interesting lead guards that Michigan has to offer for the class of 2027.

Cameron Wagner, 6’9, C, Mac Irvin Fire, 2027
The biggest player that we saw throughout the weekend was certainly Wagner from the Mac Irvin Fire. Not just a big body, Wagner carved out great position on the block, showed off nice touch around the rack, and rebounded the ball well positionally. The lefty is also apparently a really nice baseball prospect as a pitcher, so he will undoubtedly be fine whichever route he opts to follow.

Dallas Stewart, 5’9, PG, BNU, 2029
Already having established a name throughout his class, Stewart completely controlled the tempo of the game throughout the weekend in BNU’s undefeated championship run in the younger brackets. The lefty consistently had his head on a swivel, played the game with extreme confidence, and used his sturdy frame to finish through contact anytime that he got to the rack. Ballislife was there with no shortage of film on Stewart’s dominant performance.

The post RecruitLook Hoops Denver Showcase: Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
Now that the NCAA live period is over for the spring of 2023, independent grassroots tournaments are back in full swing. Each region of the country has their own areas of expertise and with some areas being far more spread out than others, travel programs are forced to do what makes the most sense during these weekends, both monetarily and logistically. Enter RecruitLook Hoops.

Holding a circuit for their own programs and events in more than a dozen states, the RecruitLook Hoops Denver Showcase brought teams from countless shoe circuits along with the RecruitLook Circuit squads. This collection of teams brought no less than 50 D-1 prospects to the Gold Crown Fieldhouse in Denver, making it an outstanding evaluation opportunity for a wide range of talent. D1 Minnesota dominated the event, with the adidas 3SSB power’s four teams combining for a 15-1 record, but there were plenty of others who stood out.

Here are a few of the top performers from the RecruitLook Denver Showcase:

Isaac Asuma, 6’3, PG, D1 Minnesota 17U, 2024
While there are certainly players who are going to put up bigger numbers, many of the biggest impacts that Asuma has on the game don’t turn up in the stat sheet. Asuma is a proven winner who uses his sturdy frame to defend multiple spots, has vastly improved as a distributor, and certainly leads by example with his play on the floor. Asuma has made continual improvement since bursting onto the scene after getting considerable time on varsity as a middle schooler, and has already popped to stay home to play for the in-state Minnesota Gophers.

J.J. Sullivan, 6’2, PG/SG, D1 Minnesota 16U, 2025
While there were bigger guards and more athletic guards at the 16U level, Sullivan may have had the most productive weekend of anyone at the sophomore level at RecruitLook. The lefty is an absolute lights out shooter who can convert both with his feet set and on the move. Not just a shooter, Sullivan is a crafty scorer who really utilizes footwork and change of pace to score with limited dribbles. The son of former Iowa State All Big 12 selection Jake Sullivan, both the lineage and his game are trending in the right direction for J.J.

Tyrin Jones, 6’7, SG/SF, Team Kongo 17U, 2025
One of the most interesting long term prospects in the event, Jones is a name that you may not have heard of yet, but undoubtedly will in the future. Having hit a ridiculous growth spurt over the past 18 months, Jones still has the guard skills that he had as a 6-footer despite now approaching 6-foot-8. The freakishly long wing showed off a great first step.

Jaeden Udean, 6’1, PG, D1 Minnesota 15U, 2027
Considered by many to be the top freshman in Minnesota, Udean has been showing that he can produce at a high level versus older competition for quite some time now. Scoring 13 points per game on varsity for a strong Columbia Heights HS (Minn.) squad as an eighth grader, the lefty was able to develop poise well beyond his years. Udean is outstanding creating separation to get his shot off, continuously keeps pressure on the defense as a scoring threat, and did a lot more as a distributor running with D1 than I saw at the high school level.

Kade Cook, 6’8, SF, NBDA 17U, 2024
One of the most versatile players of the event, Cook legitimately played all five positions at one time or another for NBDA. The Gretna, Neb. product was an outstanding facilitator no matter where he was on the hardwood, posted smaller defenders, and used his strong frame to finish through contact. Owning a number of smaller school offers, Cook is the type of positionless player that D-1 coaches love to have the flexibility to work with in today’s game.

Brayson Boike, 6’6, SF, D1 Minnesota 16U, 2025
Coming from a town of just over 1,000 people, Boike is a name that is new in recruiting circles, but he has certainly shown that he can hold his own with the finest in the Midwest. The well built 6-foot-6 wing finished through contact, showed a really nice pull-up, and has the toughness to defend bigger guys in the paint when needed. With it being Boike’s first year playing on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, there has certainly been an adjustment period, but the overall talent that he brings to the table is quite apparent.

Aiden Wanrow, 6’7, SF/PF, Rocky Mountain Select 17U, 2027
A guy who has quite a bit of buzz around him in the state of Colorado, Wanrow played with various Rocky Mountain Select teams throughout the weekend at RecruitLook, showing off his vast skill set. Preferring to play facing the rack, Wanrow showed that he’s a suitable ball handler who is capable of initiating the offense at times, despite often being the tallest player on the court for his team. When matched up against players his own age, Wanrow was able to utilize his size to convert in the paint against fellow eighth graders and has shown why he already has a buzz surrounding him despite not having entered high school.

The post Battle At The Lakes: Top Performers! appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.

]]>
Prep Hoops has offered a platform for prospects of all ranges over the years, blending those who are fighting to land on D3 rosters with a handful of prospects who will be playing at the highest level. Given the expansive and broad range of talent, there is no shortage of sleepers to be found throughout the Prep Hoops Circuit. Operating events in countless states throughout the grassroots season, there is a massive amount of talent to be found, especially at their Battle At The Lakes event.

One of the elite Prep Hoops Circuit events in terms of talent, the Battle At The Lakes brought some of the best independent teams from the Midwest along with a number of shoe sponsored teams who wanted to compete outside of their respective circuits. It provided a great opportunity to see some familiar faces, but more importantly, a better opportunity to find some new ones.

Here are some of the standouts from the Prep Hoops Battle At The Lakes:

Bradey Henige, 6’11, C, D1 Nation AZ 17U, 2024
In terms of sheer dominating statistical performances, Henige stole the show at Battle At The Lakes with his video game-esque 48-point, 22-rebound outing in the tourney’s opening night. The powerful lefty set massive screens, played well above the rim on both ends of the floor, and had no problem punishing the rim with countless dunks. Having run with AZ Unity in the EYBL, Henige has no shortage of experience playing elite competition and that was clearly evident over the weekend.

Lamont Hamilton Jr., 5’11, PG, Wisconsin Elite 17U, 2026
An unexpected addition to the event, Hamilton Jr. took the weekend off from his usual KL Power Five to get some run playing up two years with Wisconsin Elite. The lefty from Racine has downright blazing quickness, is fearless finishing through contact in the paint, and is a gifted natural scorer. Hamilton already owns D1 offers and is easily one of the most fiery players in the state of Wisconsin.

Andrew Jensen, 6’9, PF, All Wisconsin Platinum 15U, 2026
As far as long term potential is concerned, Jensen was right there amongst players with the highest ceiling at Prep Hoops. The lanky forward is elite running the floor, showed the ability to shoot the ball from beyond the three point arc, and has the agility to contain defensively in switching situations. Blending athleticism, skill, and a high level of productivity, Jensen is pushing for a spot as the top big man in Wisconsin’s 2026 class.

Jeremiah Sem, 6’4, SG, Sanford Sports 17U, 2024
In terms of single game performances at Battle At The Lakes, Sem had one of the very best, going 7-of-7 from 3-point range and hitting the game winner on Sunday against Minnesota Fury. Sem is a long armed guard who can defend multiple positions, is explosive attacking the rack via straight line drives, and is becoming an increasingly deadly 3-point shooter. One of the most exciting players in the Dakotas, Sem has already firmly established himself as a priority for a number of schools within the region.

Chase Thompson, 6’8, PF, D1 Minnesota 16U, 2025
With his entire squad playing up at the 17U level for the event, Thompson showed that he could hold it down against older competition and still produce at a high rate. He is a downright effortless shooter from beyond the 3-point arc, is really nice shooting on the move, and has shown improved athleticism from the high school season. Already standing every bit of 6-foot-8, he is the younger brother of 7-foot Treyton Thompson and doesn’t appear to be done growing anytime soon.

Tyler Forrest, 6’1, PG, Team Tyus 14U, 2027
With his entire Team Tyus squad playing up at the 15U level, Forrest showed that he’s already prepared to run the show against older competition. He scored double digits on varsity for Chaska as an eighth grader this past season, showing poise and maturity running a team dissimilar to most his age. Forrest is already outstanding in pick and roll play (both as a scorer and facilitator), can make high level passes to teammates in scoring positions, and has established himself as one of the best 2027 lead guards in the Midwest.

Kyle Jorgensen, 6’9, C, Minnesota Comets Elite 17U, 2024
One of the most unique players in the Midwest, Jorgensen is Minnesota’s high school version of Nikola Jokic. Matched up against Bradey Henige, he showed his ability to playmake from the center position, shoot the ball from beyond the arc (3 3PT), and utilize his body to create separation to get his shot off against more athletic defenders. The Minneapolis Washburn big man’s combination of perimeter skill, productivity, and ability to create for others have solidified his position as a D-1 prospect.

Taking a break from college coaches after the live period ended, many of the top players in the Southeast opted to either take the weekend off or do something a little more low key to give their bodies a break. Enter the Stellar Hoops Elite 60. Director Wayne Davis puts on an invite only event just after the live period that largely focuses on elite underclassmen and sleepers. The 2023 edition had both. Guys such as Michigan State bound Coen Carr (who just shut down the Ballislife All American Game dunk contest), Isaiah Miranda (who is preparing for the NBA Draft), future Duke swingman Isaiah Evans, Overtime Elite beast Somto Cyril, and more, are just a few to have graced the court before they blew up. There was no shortage of players who had the potential to be that next wave in the 2023 version of the camp.

Here are the top performers from the Stellar Hoops Elite 60:

Rivers Knight, 6’9, PF/C, Durham Jordan HS (NC), 2026
If you had to take an early guess at the best long-term prospect at the event, Knight would be the consensus pick. Having made massive improvements in his game in the past six months, the Durham big man is much more explosive and is playing with much more confidence than when I saw him last September. Rivers has the ability to shoot the ball to the 3-point line, has intriguing footwork on the low block, and has proved to be a solid rim protector. Knight just recently picked up an offer from Illinois and both his height/offer list don’t appear to be done growing whatsoever.

Markus Kerr, 6’5, SG/SF, West Charlotte HS (NC), 2026
Immediately upon seeing Kerr, you see the upside that he brings to the table. Starting for powerhouse West Charlotte as a freshman, the swingman gained considerable experience playing against high level competition and it has carried over to the spring. Marcus is an outstanding slasher to the rack, is great reading the defense off screens (especially curling), and does a great job picking his spots on the court. Young enough to be a member of the class of 2027, Kerr is definitely going to be a name to remember for the future.

Mason Smith, 6’7, PF, Hough HS (NC), 2024
As far as performance is concerned, there wasn’t anyone better on day two of the Stellar Hoops Elite 60 than Smith. The talented new age forward had an absolutely gorgeous stroke from beyond the arc, exploited mismatches on the offensive end, and even showed flashes of being able to facilitate for others. A high academic student, Smith is still wide open in terms of his recruitment at this point and is one to watch this spring with TCF Wildcats on the circuit.

Rashad McCormick, 6’7, PF/SF, Andover Prep (MA), 2024
One of the most diverse players at the event, McCormick did a little bit of everything at the Stellar Hoops Elite 60. A talented high jumper in track, Rashad used his athleticism to change plays on both ends while also converting on at the rack. Originally from Charlotte, McCormick is heading to the northeast for a prep year this upcoming season.

Zacch Wiggins, 6’5, SG/SF, Grimsley HS (NC)
One of the more highly touted players in the event, Wiggins made plays that certainly made you realize why some have him ranked in the top 60 for the class of 2025. The slithery Team CP3 wing was a dynamic finisher in transition, has killer touch at the rim, and shot it well enough from the perimeter to keep the defense honest. The younger brother of OKC Thunder wing Aaron Wiggins, Zacch certainly has the genetics and game to carve out his own legacy.

Jermaurhiyun Anderson, 6’3, SG/PG, Quality Education Academy (NC), 2024
As far as guards were concerned at the Stellar Hoops Elite 60, there weren’t any more productive than Anderson. The lefty combo guard was straight up fearless attacking the rack, was a deadly isolation scorer, and showed the ability to facilitate for others. Running with Upward Stars on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, Thomas has the platform to show that he can get buckets with some of the best in the Southeast Region.

Braylhan Thomas, 6’5, SG/SF, Grey Collegiate (SC), 2024
As far as two way guards are concerned, Thomas was right there with the best that the Stellar Hoops Elite 60 had to offer. He has shown potential to be an outstanding on ball defender, can finish through contact, and is a really nice straight line driver. The three time state champion holds multiple D1 offers, but is still very wide open in terms of his recruitment.

Will Stevens, 6’9, PF/C, Community School of Davidson (NC), 2026
Immediately passing the look test, Stevens has all of the tools that you look for in a big man in today’s generation. He is every bit of 6-foot-9, has the raw tools offensively to play on the perimeter, yet also has the agility to switch and ability to protect the rim defensively. There’s certainly a considerable amount of growth both physically and in terms of his skillset to be done, but Stevens is definitely one of the sleeper big men that the Southeast Region has to offer.

D’Quill Osbey, 5’10, PG, Norcross HS (GA), 2026
Coming out of Georgia perennial power Norcross, Osbey showed some of the raw talent that is going to make him one of their next guards in line. The super quick guard was able to get into the paint at will, created no shortage of shots for others, and was one of the few players who was unselfish in a camp setting. With his father having played at Central Connecticut State, Osbey certainly has the lineage to be a nice lead guard down the road.

The 2023 NCAA spring live period has come and gone. With all three shoe circuits holding events this past weekend, I opted to check out the Nike EYBL in Phoenix, as did approximately 300 D-1 college coaches. Held at gorgeous Legacy Park in Mesa, it was a one stop shop to see the nation’s strongest shoe circuit all under one roof. Games were played with a 30-second shot clock, rotations shortened up, and teams played every game fighting for a spot in July’s prestigious Peach Jam. Vegas Elite emerged as the only undefeated 17U team after the weekend, but plenty of other teams had guys who took their recruitment to new heights.

Of the games that I took in, here are a number of the top rising seniors (2024) from the Nike EYBL Phoenix stop:

John Mobley Jr., 6’1, PG, Vegas Elite
The catalyst for the EYBL’s top program is Mobley Jr., an intriguing lead guard from Las Vegas power Bishop Gorman. Having grown both physically and in terms of his skill set, “Juni” blends deep three point range with the poise that you look for out of a high major playmaker. The 9-assist, 1-turnover performance that he had against a super gritty Chicago Meanstreets squad was evidence of the progression that he has made as a facilitator while maintaining a presence as a scorer. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Mobley is heading home to run the show for Ohio State next season.

Karter Knox, 6’5, SG, Florida Rebels
The leading scorer in the EYBL’s 17U group (21.4 PPG), Knox has certainly emerged out of his brother's (Portland TrailBlazer Kevin Knox Jr.) shadow and has carved out his own reputation as an NBA Draft prospect. The power guard is a reliable 3-point shooter (39.1%), uses his length/athleticism to provide quite the on ball defensive presence, and was downright fearless attacking the rack. Knox’s combination of skill, ability to utilize his physical tools, and freakish athleticism put him right there in the conversation for best shooting guard in the class.

Aidan Sherrell, 6’11, C, Vegas Elite
Playing for an absolutely loaded Vegas Elite squad, there isn’t a single player who is going to put up huge numbers. However, Sherrell does a number of things that don’t show up in the box score. The Hillcrest Prep (AZ) big man is an outstanding rim protector, is a constant lob threat in the paint, and offers outstanding mobility on both ends of the hardwood. Toss in some intriguing raw talent on the perimeter and you see why he’s a focal point for the EYBL’s best team.

Bishop Boswell, 6’4, PG/SG, Team CP3
There may be flashier players in the class of 2024, but Boswell is the definition of stability as far as guards are concerned. The Charlotte native showed that he can score the rock efficiently (54% FG, 41% 3-PT), shows excellent IQ when picking his spots, and offers the ability to play both guard spots that you look for out of a high major guard. Boswell is posting averages of 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists for 7-1 Team CP3.

Elliot Cadeau, 6’1, PG, New Heights Lightning
Cadeau has been a name that we have been familiar with for quite some time, but has shown that he can play whatever role you need out of him. With the 7-1 New Heights Lightning, the Jersey product has opted to play more of a facilitator, and it’s been evident with his numbers. Elliot crushed the EYBL in assists at 10.5 per game, has a near 6:1 assist to turnover ratio, and utilized his crazy athleticism to show growth on the defensive end. Rolling to UNC to play for Hubert Davis, there has been much speculation that he could make it to Chapel Hill a year early in the class of 2023.

Morez Johnson Jr., 6’8, PF, Meanstreets
Johnson is a prospect who has been known in the Midwest since he entered high school, but has firmly established himself as one of the nation's finest throughout his high school career. The Illinois commit blends old inner city toughness with today's versatility. He is able to switch on virtually every position for spurts, is a double-double threat every time he steps on court (finished tied for first in EYBL in rebounding), and is constantly adding to his offensive arsenal. Playing for reigning Chicago Catholic League champs St. Rita's, Johnson will be one of the pre-season favorites for Illinois Mr. Basketball as a senior.

Justin Begg, 5’11, PG, Houston Hoops
Matched up with five star point guard Elliot Cadeau, Begg showed no fear and ultimately handed the five star playmaker his first loss of the EYBL season after a 17-point, 7-rebound, 8-assist performance. The Houston Episcopal catalyst shot the ball well from beyond the arc, did a great job getting into the teeth of the defense, and got his highly touted teammates the rock in scoring positions. Owning a handful of D1 offers, Begg is the type of facilitator that any coach would want to have running their program.

Daniel Jacobsen, 7’0, C, JL3 Elite
Jacobsen helped himself just as much as anyone at session 2 of the EYBL. After a promising year in the NIBC where he showed flashes for Legacy Early College (SC), the New Mexico big followed things up with a productive outing in Phoenix. Jacobsen shot the ball well from beyond the arc, used his improved strength (added 25 pounds in the past year) to show growth on defensive end, and brought a lot more confidence to the table for JL3. Still a bit under the radar, Jacobsen has the tools and the game to really break out.

Amidst the various shoe sponsored circuits, the Under Armour Association got things kicked off in Mesa, Ariz., at Legacy Sports Park. There will be another stop in Rock Hill, SC and then the UAA will culminate with the UAA Finals in July in ATL. College coaches will be permitted to attend all of the Under Armour sessions, as their interest in the portal will subdue and they get back to evaluating prospects from the grassroots and scholastic ranks.

Games were won, scholarships were earned, and new names popped on the radar at the Under Armour Association Session 1. Here are a few of the top rising senior performers:

Derik Queen, 6’10, C, Team Thrill 17U, 2024
The highest ranked senior in the Under Armour Association lived up to the hype and more in Phoenix, pacing Team Thrill to a 5-0 record in front of future lottery pick (and Team Thrill alumni) Jarace Walker. Rocking a new svelte frame, the uber talented big man was far more explosive than he was a year ago. The Baltimore native got whatever position he wanted on the block, converted via his feathery touch with both hands, and used his more slender frame to pop above the rim from a number of dunks. Blending his new frame with his immense skill set for a new age center, Queen will have his choice of virtually any school in the nation.

Vyctorius Miller, 6’5, SG, West Coast Elite 17U, 2024
One of the smoother players in the class of 2024, Miller helped West Coast Elite cruise to a 5-0 record. The L.A. native is a big time shot creator who has no problems creating separation, has quick hands on D, and has really shown potential as a potential combo guard down the road. Gonzaga, LSU, Kansas, San Diego State, and USC were just a few of the college programs sitting courtside to watch Silkk The Shocker’s son put on a show in Mesa.

Cole Certa, 6’5, SG, Illinois Wolves 17U, 2024
One of the most fearless players that we saw in the UAA was Certa. Owning no shortage of confidence, Certa showed ridiculous range on his jumpshot and was a threat any time that he was on the court. Just as impressive as his shot itself was how well the Bloomington Central Catholic guard relocated without the ball and constantly stayed on the move. Having visited Notre Dame this past week, Certa had no shortage of blue blood programs sitting courtside evaluating him throughout the weekend.

Jayce Nathaniel, 6’8, PF, Team Curry 17U, 2024
While I had heard the buzz about him, it was my first time checking out Nathaniel at the UAA and he did not disappoint. The versatile forward shot the ball well from the perimeter with his feet set, was a constant double-double machine, and beat slower defenders with straight line drives to the rack. The Lanier HS (GA) forward already owns a Georgia offer, but there are countless more high major programs who were sitting courtside to see him in Phoenix.

Tey Barbour, 6’4, SG, DC Premier 17U, 2024
A player who I had not seen prior to the weekend, Barbour definitely showed that he’s a wing to watch in the DMV. Barbour was the model of consistency scoring double figures in all five games, getting to the rack with limited dribbles, and keeping the defense honest with his perimeter jumper. Holding a 4.2 GPA, Barbour already holds offers from Harvard and no shortage of other high academic mid-major programs, so he’s going to be good both on and off the court for a long time.

Chris Catchings, 6’5, SF/PF, Houston Defenders 17U
While he doesn’t necessarily fit the mold of any particular position, Catchings is merely one of those dudes who gets it done. Able to play inside and out, Catchings can punish smaller guys on the block with his broad shoulders, shoots it out to the 3-point line, and defends multiple positions. Owning a 3.9 GPA, Catchings has had programs such as Yale, Lehigh, Old Dominion, and Sam Houston State inquiring about the Fort Bend Marshall junior’s services.
