Super Bowl week is among us, and the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Franciso 49ers are gearing up for an epic showdown. On Sunday, Feb. 11, bettors will look to wager on certain outcomes, including novelty props. One of the most popular, fun bets to place money on, novelty props are offered at sportsbooks in certain regions and states.
Novelty props are a unique way to get bettors involved prior to the game and focus on situations outside of actual game play. A staple and tradition of Super Bowl weekend, it's a fun way to wager on outcomes not normally prohibited during the regular season.
One of the most exciting parts of the Super Bowl, let's have some fun with these. Be sure to check if your state or region allows you to bet on these silly props. For Super Bowl 58, you can bet if Travis Kelce, tight end for the Chiefs, will propose to Grammy recording artist, Taylor Swift.
This year has some new and improved fun props to bet on. Here, I will break down the odds for the coin toss, Gatorade color, halftime performances, and National Anthem length.
All odds are official as of 11:05 am E.T
There's more: Four-time Super Bowl winner and FanDuel Sportsbook ambassador Rob Gronkowski heads to Vegas to compete for the "Kick of Destiny 2" in front of a live audience. New and existing FanDuel users can win a share of $10 million in bonus bets simply by predicting whether they will make or miss the field goal.

One of the most popular props to bet on is the result of the coin toss prior to kickoff. Traditionally, the Super Bowl starts with the flipping of the coin, which decides which team will start the first or second half of the game with the ball. Some bettors swear by tails, as it has won 29-27 over heads in the history of the Super Bowl era.
With tails hitting 51 percent of the time, it is truly a 50/50 shot if you choose to bet on the coin toss. If we want to look at trends, the Kansas City Chiefs won the coin toss during Super Bowl 57, choosing tails as the outcome. Before that, the Bengals won the coin toss in Super Bowl 56, with heads as the outcome.
In the last 10 events, dating back to Super Bowl 48, the coin toss outcome landed as tails 70 percent of the time. This year is a rematch of Super Bowl 54, where the 49ers won the coin toss in 2020, which resulted in tails.
Dating back to 2009, heads was the winning outcome in five straight games, from Super Bowl 43 to Super Bowl 47. Since the coin projected to be flipped only once at the beginning of the game, the outcome is 50 percent heads, and 50 percent tails. Considered one of the easiest props to wager on, here are the following coin toss outcome statistics:
Super Bowl | Coin Toss | Winning Team |
---|---|---|
1 | Heads | Packers |
2 | Tails | Raiders |
3 | Heads | Jets |
4 | Tails | Vikings |
5 | Tails | Cowboys |
6 | Heads | Dolphins |
7 | Heads | Dolphins |
8 | Heads | Dolphins |
9 | Tails | Steelers |

11 | Tails | Raiders |
12 | Heads | Cowboys |
13 | Heads | Cowboys |
14 | Heads | Rams |
15 | Tails | Eagles |
16 | Tails | 49ers |
17 | Tails | Dolphins |
18 | Heads | Raiders |

57 | Tails | Chiefs |
While it truly is a 50/50 shot, I am going to go with the trend, and stick to tails. It was the winning coin toss for the 49ers/Chiefs previous Super Bowl matchup in Super Bowl 54. Winning 51 percent of the time, I'm going to ride with tails on this one.
Stars will pull up for one of the most iconic events of the year. Set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Country legend Reba McEntire will perform the Star-Spangled Banner prior to the start of the game. While the original length was set at 90.5 earlier this week, the line has moved to 89.5 seconds.
Having performed at several events past, McEntire is known for her quick performances. In fact, she sang the National Anthem in 90.5 seconds flat in 1999 for the Dallas Cowboys. The former star of sitcom "Reba," McEntire has a history of completing the National Anthem in an elegant, yet efficient time manor.
Her most popular appearance came during the 1997 World Series, in which the country star performed The Star-Spangled Banner in 83 seconds.? At 68 years old, McEntire is still extremely talented, and will have the honor of performing before kickoff.
Year | Performer | Duration |
---|---|---|
2023 | Chris Stapleton | 2:01 |
2022 | Mickey Guyton | 1:51 |
2021 | Eric Church & Jazmine Sullivan | 2:17 |
2020 | Demi Lovato | 1:49 |
2019 | Gladys Night | 2:01 |
I've been a huge fan of Reba McEntire ever since I was a kid. I mean, who can forget her performance during the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. One of the fastest, yet beautifully sung anthems, I can't see her performing at a longer pace, even in the slightest way.? She finished the entire performance in just 1 minute and 12 seconds. I'm going with the under here.

Whether or not you love the Super Bowl, millions of viewers tune in around the world. Along with the notorious commercials and halftime show, everyone loves to see the celebration and outcome of the big game.
Only available in certain states in regions, bettors are able to place wagers on the color of first Gatorade poured on the winning head coach of Super Bowl 58. While its up for debate, this is a fun prop that was ironically legalized in 2019, which was the previous Super Bowl matchup between the Chiefs and the 49ers.
Gatorade Color | Points |
---|---|
Purple | +250 |
Red | +275 |
Yellow/Green | +300 |
Orange | +300 |
Blue | +350 |
Clear | +1000 |
No Gatorade Bath | +1600 |
The tradition of dumping Gatorade over the Super Bowl winning head coach has dated back to the 1980s. Now with the ability to bet on the colors, let's take a look at some trends:
With all of the trends, orange seems to be the heavy favorite, with great value at +300. Since red has never been picked, is Super Bowl 58 the first-year bettors will see the colors debut? Since 2019, blue has been the most popular. Overall, it's been a few years since Yellow has shown some love.

While bettors are hot on orange, I believe this is the year red gets a chance. At +275 odds on DraftKings, it has the be the choice, especially since the Chiefs and 49ers don red colors, right?
Let's face it, not everyone tunes into the Super Bowl to watch the actual game. In fact, the halftime entertainment show is a monumental part of the events success.? The halftime show lineup for the Super Bowl, historically has featured iconic stars like Prince, U2, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and others.? Usher is set to perform at this year's Super Bowl halftime show, and it will continue the tradition of showcasing top-tier talent from the R&B and pop genres.
Usher's presence will likely add excitement and energy to the event, further solidifying the Super Bowl halftime show as a must-see spectacle for music fans worldwide.
With that said, bettors in certain regions are able to wager on the first song performed during the halftime show. This is a fun, common novelty prop to bet on for Super Bowl 58.
The question still remains, will Usher bring out a guest, and this will impact which song is chosen first during halftime. With caught up being the favorite, there are several iconic songs that could make the cut. It's important to note, bettors can place wagers on the last song to be played by Usher in legal regions and sportsbooks.
Let's check out the trends, and first songs by artists in past Super Bowl halftime shows:
Song Title | Points |
---|---|
Caught up | +175 |
My Way | +175 |
OMG | +275 |
My Boo | +450 |
Yeah! | +750 |
Any other song | +1000 |
DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love | +1200 |
Confessions | +3000 |
OMG is a safe song with great value at +275. It's not a super energic song, but it is a great tone setter for the halftime performance. While bettors can go safe with "Yeah" or "My Way," OMG is a classic, and a perfect opening fit.
It's likely Usher will bring on guests, such as Ludacris and Lil Jon for their duet of "Yeah!" At -280 odds, Ludacris is predicted to make an appearance. At -172 odds, Lil Jon is expected too as well. Alicia Keys is the overwhelming favorite at -550 to perform with Usher in Super Bowl 58.
Novelty Props are extremely entertaining and fun to bet on. While I picked my favorite ones, there are a slew of other outcomes to make friendly wagers on, or to place money on. We encourage everyone to bet responsibly. Click here to check the best betting apps to bet on the Super Bowl.
