The Miami Heat come into this first round of the Play-In Tournament having won back-to-back games when they head out on the road to Philadelphia when they take on the 76ers in this showdown on Wednesday night. We take a look at this matchup to make a Heat-76ers prediction and pick.
Miami (46-36) has now won seven of their last 10 games and is most recently coming off of a win against the Toronot Raptors who they've beaten in back-to-back games. In that game, it was a collective effort with seven players scoring in double digits. None of the starting five played more than 29 minutes as they geared up for their Play-In game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Heat get to take on Joel Embiid and the 76ers as they attempt to advance to the first round of the NBA playoffs as well as get their loss back earlier in the month. The Heat have the coaching and the players to make this a tough game for Embiid and the 76ers as they look to play spoiler and score the upset in this Wednesday night showdown.
Philadelphia (47-35) come into the first round of the Play-In tournament on a tear winning eight of their last 10 games as well as winning all five of the games that Joel Embiid has played in since his return from injury. The former NBA MVP picked up where he left off averaging 30.4 points per game since his return to the lineup. Now, he gets to take on a familiar foe in the Miami Heat who he put up 29 points in 33 minutes on the floor in a 109-105 win earlier this month.
The 76ers are certainly a team to watch out for in the East now that they are fully healthy. A healthy 76ers squad with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Buddy Hield, and Tobias Harris is going to be one hard team to beat in a seven-game series. However, first, they must get through the always-tough Miami Heat to advance to the first round of the NBA playoffs. must change something if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive when they host the Los Angeles Lakes in the first round of the Play-In Tournament on Tuesday night.
The Miami Heat have now won back-to-back games as they head into tonight's first round of the Play-In Tournament. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are the heart and soul of this Miami Heat team and they are going to need to put this team on their back heading into this matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Heat will be without their acquisition at the trade deadline Terry Rozier who is recovering from a neck injury. That is a massive blow to the backcourt of the Miami Heat but they still have a combination of Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, and even Butler to run the point during times throughout this game.
However, the Heat's role players will need to pick up some slack offensively and be the usual stifling Miami Heat on defense. The Heat's defense and grit is normally what gets them so far in the postseason and that's going to be much-needed here. With Butler (20.8 ppg) and Adebayo (19.3 ppg) leading the pack, they need Herro (20.8 ppg) to step up in a big way to get past Philadelphia to advance to the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The Philadelphia 76ers are 8-0 coming into this Play-In Tournament series with the Miami Heat in their last 8 games. They also have covered the spread in each of their last 10 games making them the most profitable team to bet on heading into the NBA playoffs. They are coming off a dominant win against the Brooklyn Nets with a 107-86 victory where they covered the -13-point spread with relative ease.
The 76ers already were able to get past the Miami Heat earlier this month and are looking to repeat the same success they had in that game here in tonight's matchup. The Heat had trouble guarding both Embiid and Tyrese Maxey who both combined for 56 points. However, expect things to get a bit tougher in this matchup as we know Erik Spoelstra will be better equipped for planning for this matchup. If Embiid is at the top of this game and the rest of the stacked 76ers squad come to play tonight they can make 11 straight ATS wins in a row.
The Miami Heat have some uphill sledding ahead of them going against the surging Philadelphia 76ers, especially without Terry Rozier in the lineup. The Heat are 7-3 in their last 10 but with only one win against a playoff team.
The 76ers on the other hand are on a different trajectory coming into the Play-In Tournament. They have been dominating on the floor winning eight of their last 10 games, eight in a row, and covering all 10 of those games. With the way Embiid looks to be back in MVP form and has his squad humming it's hard to fade him at this point. Lay the 5.5 points with the 76ers as they push forward toward the first round of the playoffs.
FINAL HEAT-76ERS PICK & PREDICTION: PHILADELPHIA 76ERS -5.5 (-110)
