Week One in the MLS saw a mixed bag of outcomes. Yes we saw some of the teams who we thought would be good, or thought would be bad do both. But the fact that we saw seven draws including three 0-0 draws is just outrageous.

The MLS can be a tricky league to bet but these Week One outcomes were a bit ridiculous. Hopefully, we will see Week Two settle down a bit so we can get a few more wins under our belts. So, as always let’s dig into the Week 2 MLS slate.

Chicago Fire vs FC Cincinnati Betting Predictions Saturday, March 2, 2024

The Chicago Fire should feel good about the start of their campaign. They got a point versus the Philadelphia Union on the road and that should be encouraging for the team. The Fire scored both goals against Philadelphia Union through Brian Gutierrez and Fabian Herbers and just missed winning by a last-minute goal from the Union.

They had 46% possession, four shots on target and they created four big chances during the game. All in all, it was a great Week One showing from the Chicago Fire.

The Seattle Sounders and Austin FC both lost their Week One matchups. One was too Championship hopefuls LAFC the other to a Minnesota United team who should have a decent season. These two teams while level now should be headed in much different directions this season.

• Austin FC saw a Week One 2-1 loss to Minnesota United
• They had 52.4% possession but gave up 19 shots, 10 on goal to Minnesota
• Possession doesn’t matter much when the other team doesn’t stop shooting the ball
• Austin FC was lucky to escape with that scoreline

I think they will see a similar game come Saturday as the Seattle Sounders team wants to win and win now.

The Sounders too lost 2-1 but against much stiffer competition, Championship hopeful LAFC. The Sounders owned the possession battle with 56.4%, had a good showing when it comes to shots (15) and shots on target (7), but gave up to many chances. I think we see Seattle finish on some of their own high-scoring chances beating Austin in a high-scoring game.
