The Trail Blazers have now lost six games in a row but now are set to hit the road as they head down south to take on the surging Houston Rockets in this Monday-night matchup at the Toyota Center. We take a look at this marquee matchup to make a Trail Blazers-Rockets prediction and pick.
Portland Trail Blazers (19-52) is just four games ahead of the bottom-feeding San Antonio Spurs and the rest of the season is lost at this point. As of now, the Trail Blazers are just looking toward the future and what they can achieve from the NBA draft as they come into the 2024-2025 season.
For the rest of this season however, the Trail Blazers will look to gain some momentum before the season's end, and for them to do that they need to go out there and give it their all starting with tonight's matchup.
The Trail Blazers will look to right the ship and stop the bleeding when they head to Houston to take on the Rockets in this Monday-night showdown.
Houston Rockets (35-35) host the Portland Trail Blazers, aiming to extend their winning streak to a whopping nine games. They took it to the Utah Jazz on Saturday with a 147-119 victory on the back of Jalen Green who put up a monstrous 41 points but Fred VanVleet wasn't far behind with his staggering 34 points.
This Rockets team has been humming as we head toward the playoff stretch. They will be looking to continue their dominance and their momentum when they play host to the Portland Trail Blazers in tonight's matchup at the Toyota Center.
The Portland Trail Blazers don't have much to play for the rest of the season. They are second to last place in the Western Conference with just 19 wins on the season and are just looking toward next season at this point. They also could potentially be without the majority of their roster when they head out on the road for this Monday night matchup with the Rockets.
While the Trail Blazers have been downright atrocious on the season, they have done a great job at covering the spread. During their 6-game losing streak they are 3-2-1 ATS, most recently covering lofty 10.5 and 14.5 point spreads against two top teams in the conference the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers.
Without both Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson has been the go-to man for the Trail Blazers as he scored 22 points in their 3-point loss to the Nuggets. It will be up to Henderson to ignite this offense in an attempt to cover three straight against this surging Houston Rockets squad.
The Houston Rockets are looking like a team to watch out for as they make a playoff push. They have now won 8 straight and are looking to make it 9 in a row when they take on the lowly Portland Trail Blazers in this Monday-night matchup.
What has transcended this Rockets squad has been the emergence of Jalen Green. Green has been averaging 29.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and shooting 52.5% from the floor during their 8-game winning streak, four games have been at home at the Toyota Center where he's been averaging 32.5 points in those contests.
Also, the Rockets as a team have been soaring as well averaging 125.1 points per game over that stretch, limiting their opponents to 110.5 points per game with a point differential of +14.6 points per game. If the Rockets can just continue their torrid streak like they have been, they should extend their ATS streak to six in tonight's showdown.
The Portland Trail Blazers have some uphill sledding ahead of them possibly without most of their starting cast when they take on the red-hot Houston Rockets. The Rockets not only are on an 8-game winning streak, they also have covered 6-straight games and 9 out of their last 10 games.
While it isn't for the faint at heart to lay 12.5 points but it is recommended here when Jalen Green puts on another monster performance at home against the Trail Blazer in this Monday night matchup.
FINAL TRAIL BLAZERS-ROCKETS PICK & PREDICTION: HOUSTON ROCKETS -12.5 (-108)
