Fact checked by: Allan Howe

The Milwaukee Brewers come into Game 2 of this road series with the Miami Marlins on the heels of a 3-2 10th-inning loss at LoanDepot Park giving them back-to-back losses which has them at just 5-5 over their last 10 games as they are now just 1.5 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central.

The Brewers will be looking to bounce back when they continue their road series in Miami, Florida this Tuesday evening. We take a look at this matchup to make a Brewers-Mavericks prediction and pick.

Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers (27-19)?has been slumping in recent games just scoring 14 runs over their last four games losing three out of those four games. Most recently against the Miami Marlins, who are the worst team in baseball, they ended up with just 2 runs on 4 hits.

One of those runs came off a very impressive steal of home by Christian Yelich giving the Brewers just one RBI on the night.

Joe Ross only gave the Brewers one strong inning after having to be removed with a lower back strain which will most likely put him on the Disabled List. However, the Brewers bullpen pitched well just giving up 3 runs in 9 innings on 7 hits but their closer Trevor Megill blew the save giving up the lead in the 9th inning to where the Marlins hit a walk-off single in the 10th to seal the game.

The Brewers are going to need an extended outing from their starting pitcher Robert Gasser (2-0, 0.82 ERA). The rookie is making just his third big league start after allowing just 1 ER over his first two starts where he allowed 8 hits, 1 ER, and 1 BB while striking out 6 against divisional foes the Pirates and the Cardinals.

The Brewers have been struggling against left-handed pitching this season as they are just batting .235 as a team but they strikeout at the third-lowest rate in the majors which bodes well in this matchup against Trevor Rogers (1-6, 5.79 ERA) who's been struggling mightily this season despite throwing a gem in his last outing against the Tigers.

If there was any matchup for the Brewers to get themselves back on track it is this one here against Rogers who is still winless at home at LoanDepot Park.

As long as the Brewers can finally give their pitching some run support unlike they have done over their last four games they could get themselves back on track and tie this series up before they end to the series finale.

Miami Marlins

Miami Marlins (15-33)?are dead last in the Majors with just 15 wins in their 48 games on the season. They all but seemed like they were packing it up when they traded away one of the best hitters in the league Luis Arraez to the San Diego Padres for a bag of peanuts in Miami Marlins fashion.

However, the Marlins have had a bit of a resurgence in recent games winning five out of their last six after losing eight of their first 10 games without Arraez in the lineup.

The Marlins have had to deal with a plethora of injuries mainly to their pitching staff losing both Eury Perez and Sandy Alcantara for the season and then recently had to put Edward Cabrera on the 15-day Disabled List losing three of their starting pitchers. That doesn't end there as they are without two of the better bats in the lineup as well with both Avisail Garcia and Tim Anderson on the DL as well.

Even with these injuries, the Marlins have had some life in recent games which is in large part due to their young pitching staff holding the opposition and the Marlins giving them just enough run support to get the job done.

The Marlins started this series with the Brewers with a 10th-inning walk-off win after being down 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th.

Marlins starting pitcher Ryan Weathers pitched a gem to keep them in the game as he pitched 7 innings of one-run ball while striking out 8 batters and giving up just two hits.

The Brewers' woes against left-handed pitching continued when Weathers was able to mow down this stacked lineup 8 times. Things won't get much easier as they get another left-hander Trevor Rogers in this second game of the series.

While Rogers certainly isn't playing at the level he once was a season ago he still has the quality pitching to make this a tough night for the Brewers as shown in his most recent victory against the Tigers where he pitched five shutout innings giving up just 3 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts.

Suppose Rogers can continue to pitch like the Miami Marlins know he can.

In that case, the Marlins have a legitimate chance to cash in yet again as an underdog as they have in six out of their last 10 games and take it to the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.

FINAL BREWERS-MARLINS PICK & PREDICTION

The Miami Marlins have been exceeding expectations mightily over their last six games but this is the game where they should come back down to reality. While Robert Gasser isn't a pitcher that will overwhelm his opponents, he does a great job at limiting the damage and keeping batters off the basepaths.

Seeing as how the Marlins have the 6th worst batting average against left-handed pitching batting just .216 and striking out the 5th-most out of any team in the Majors they are going to tough time giving run support to Trevor Rogers.

If the Brewers can finally find their groove and give some run support early for Gasser they can get back into the win column and tie the series up before heading into the series finale.

FINAL BREWERS-MARLINS PICK & PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE BREWERS (-136)
