The Mid-Summer Classic is upon us on Wednesday, and with the game's best and brightest stars joining forces at Globe Life Field in Texas the best and brightest bettors will be following suit.

This year's All-Star Game will feature some familiar faces like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, but it'll also feature more than 25 fresh faces as the league begins to turn over these rosters and showcase some new stars.

With a new crop of faces, might we see a new narrative be written in a game dominated by the American League over the years?

BEST MONEYLINE BET FOR 2024 MLB ALL-STAR GAME

The American League has won nine of the last 10 runnings of the All-Star Game, but last season in Seattle the National League finally pulled one back with a dramatic 3-2 win. I think this signals a bit of a tide turning here in this game.

Yes, at first glance, the AL does seem to be a powerhouse. Judge and teammate Juan Soto will create a devastating look to the top of the order with Gunnar Henderson, and then there's Jose Ramirez and Yordan Alvarez, two perennial powerhouses who have lit the league on fire.

• With that being said, Alvarez has taken a clear step back this season with a near-80 point drop in OPS.
• While Soto is hitting just .227 over the last month, Judge has now fallen into a slump with him hitting .238 in the last week.

There are some aging stars on this team and some players having down years, and on the other side, this NL team is loaded with players who have not only had incredible seasons but it also has the experience to match the AL.

Christian Yelich has the second-best average of any qualified hitter in the big leagues, Ohtani may have the best overall numbers in baseball and Jurickson Profar has quietly kept his average over .300.

The depth of the NL lineup is much greater than the depth in the AL, and there seems to be a clear edge in the pitching department as well with nearly all of the great first-half stories.

There is absolutely nobody I don't trust in this stable while the AL has the likes of Seth Lugo, Kirby Yates, Tyler Anderson, Mason Miller and Clay Holmes who have all struggled.

From a roster standpoint, the NL has the edge -- and it should show itself in a hitter's park.

BEST OVER/UNDER BET FOR 2024 MLB ALL-STAR GAME

We weren't treated to much of a slugfest in the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park last year, but moving to one of the friendliest hitting environments in Texas I think the story will be different in 2024.

• With many high-strikeout, fly-ball heavy pitchers going for both sides, we should see a smattering of home runs in this one -- and while I think that should favor the power bats in the NL against some troubled arms, it should create plenty of scoring.

We'd seen seven or more runs at the All-Star Game for three straight seasons up until the last two iterations, but the lack of scoring was entirely due to the NL's incompetence at the plate and the AL's clear edge in pitching.

That doesn't seem to be the case this year, so the Over would certainly make plenty of sense.

Texas will represent the best park for offense we've seen at this game since the 5-2 win for the AL in 2021, and just the second hitter's park in seven years. With that, I don't think recent history is the best indicator of the total, and I will be brave enough to bet on runs.
