Best NRFI Bets Today

As we begin another pivotal week in the major leagues, we'll take a look at the NRFI -- No Runs in the First Inning -- as we look to make some money on Tuesday.

We'll show Patrick Corbin some more love as he continues to start strong in ballgames before discussing a good way to bet on Paul Skenes and reason to believe in Carlos Rodon.

Let's check out some of the most profitable NRFI spots and get deeper into the slate, handing out MLB NRFI predictions for Tuesday, September 3.

MLB NRFI Betting Prediction for Nationals vs Marlins

Yes, Patrick Corbin's struggles are well-documented, and he's become a punchline in the betting community for his continued mediocrity.

• What we rarely talk about is Corbin's excellence early in games, which has helped him to a shiny 21-6 NRFI record.
• The left-hander has now hit the NRFI in four straight and will draw an excellent matchup with the Marlins, who have gone 6-4 to the NRFI over their last 10 games and are hitting just .230 against lefties.

With Jesus Sanchez at a platoon disadvantage towards the top of the order, Kyle Stowers out of the lineup and Jake Burger hitting just .238 in the last two weeks, there shouldn't be so much to fear here.

As for Max Meyer, he's been a troubled young arm as he navigates the big-leagues for the first time but we can rest on the fact that the Nationals haven't been getting much from the top of the order lately with CJ Abrams slumping to a .195 average in the last two weeks and James Wood hitting .233.

I trust him enough here against a flat offense to back the trends, which are favorable considering Meyer is 8-2 to the NRFI this year.

MLB NRFI Betting Prediction for Pirates vs Cubs

Paul Skenes did allow a run in the first inning of his most recent start against the Cubs and now sits at 13-5 to the NRFI this year, but on the bright side the Cubs are a solid 85-53 to the NRFI this year while the Pirates have gone 82-55.

• That should make for a good one here when you consider Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner have done most of the heavy lifting for this offense down near the bottom of the order, and Seiya Suzuki has already begun to cool off over his last couple of games as the lone man to fear high up in the order.
• Cody Bellinger is just 1-for-5 against Skenes while Ian Happ is 1-for-6 and Michael Busch has failed to record a hit in five ABs.

If he can take care of his end, Kyle Hendricks will meet a slumping Pirates team which has posted a dreadful .684 OPS against ground-ball arms to rank 21st in baseball.

With Hendricks going 16-3 to the NRFI this year, this becomes an excellent spot.

NRFI Betting Prediction: Pirates vs Cubs NRFI (-145 at BetMGM)

MLB NRFI Betting Prediction for Dodgers vs Angels

To wrap things up, we'll make a bold play on the returning Reid Detmers who will be making his first start since being demoted for performance reasons earlier in the year.

• Detmers went a perfect 12-0 to the NRFI prior to his demotion, and against a lefty-heavy top of the Dodgers order should have a good outlook as we get this one started.
• The lefty previously went seven scoreless with eight punchouts the last time he saw the Dodgers at Angel Stadium, and in his last three starts in the minors has allowed just three earned runs across 23 innings.

I think he should hold up his end here, and interestingly enough it's Walker Buehler with a 6-5 NRFI record we have to worry about.

The good news here is that the Angels have been driven by the bottom of the order with Mickey Moniak emerging as their most dangerous hitter, and in the past two weeks they're sporting a poor 71 wRC+ as they deal with several key injuries.

With Taylor Ward cooling off a bit and Nolan Schanuel still slumping, I think we've got a great price on the No Runs in the First Inning out in Los Angeles.
