The UFC heads back to the UFC Apex for a stacked fight night event this Saturday, July 20th.

In the main event, we have a fight between two of the best strawweight contenders with former title challenger Amanda Lemos taking on surging contender Virna Jandiroba.

Lemos lost her title bid when she dropped a decision to the champ but she was able to get back on track with a dominant performance her next time out against Mackenzie Dern. As for Jandiroba, this will be her first main-event fight for the UFC.

• She comes into this fight riding a three-fight winning streak, and she is looking for the biggest win of her career this weekend.

With that said, we take a look at this main event fight and give out our prediction and pick for this Lemos-Jandiroba matchup.

UFC Vegas 94: Amanda Lemos Predictions Today July 20

Amanda Lemos (14-3-1)?has been a longtime competitor in the UFC's strawweight division compiling an 8-3 UFC record. Two finishes of Michelle Waterson-Gomez and Marina Rodriguez paved the way for her title shot against Zhang Weili.

Lemos' first title fight didn't go her way as Weili was able to out grapple the Brazilian for the vast majority of the fight en route to a unanimous decision victory. However, Lemos was able to hang in there with a bonafide finisher so there is some positives to take away from the loss.

Since that loss, Lemos was able to get back on track.

• Lemos took on another high-level grappler Mackenzie Dern who she pieced up on the feet while defending the takedowns Dern threw her way taking the decision victory.

Now, Lemos will be looking to extend her winning streak by taking on yet another grappler Virna Jandiroba who poses a different threat than both Weili and Dern.

Jandiroba utilizes trips and dragging her opponents to the mat with her strength rather than double and single legs like Weili or hip tosses and inside trips like Dern.

• While it is expected that Jandiroba will land takedowns at some point in this fight but it will be up to Lemos to work her way back to her feet and avoid getting submitted.

The longer this fight stays on the feet the higher the probability that Lemos lands the kill shot taking Jandiroba out. Also, with this being Jandiroba's first 5-round fight if this fight hits the championship rounds we can expect Jandiroba to start to fade and that's when Lemos can take over.

If Lemos can sprawl and brawl in this fight she will eventually land something clean putting Jandiroba out to get her second win in a row.

UFC Vegas 94: Virna Jandiroba Predictions Today July 20

Virna Jandiroba (20-3)?has hit her stride as she is coming off three consecutive wins against some of the division's best. She dominated Angela Hill, Marina Rodriguez, and most recently Loopy Godinez in her last three fights.

Jandiroba is now 6-3 in the world's largest MMA promotion and has been a mainstay in the rankings at the strawweight division as she makes her first main event appearance this weekend when she takes on Amanda Lemos.

Jandiroba is an elite-level grappler who has dominated numerous foes during her time in the UFC and as the former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion.

• Virna Jandiroba has submitted 13 of her 23 opponents and 1 of Lemos' 3 losses in the UFC has come by submission.

Jandiroba poses a different threat than Lemos' past grapplers that she has faced. She's a much better submission artist than Zhang Weili and is a much better offensive grappler than Mackenzie Dern.

• Her ability to blend together her takedowns with her control and her back makes it very difficult for even someone as high level as Lemos to defend against.

This fight is as binary as it comes, as long as Jandiroba can get this fight to the mat she has a very good chance of getting another submission victory on her resume and putting her right in the mix for a potential title shot.
