On the prelims, there is a great scrap in the lightweight division between the Loik "The Tajik Tank" Radzhabov and Trey "Samarai Ghost" Ogden. Radzhabov was able to get back on track and get his second win inside the Octagon with a third-round knockout of Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady meanwhile, Ogden had a dominant win in his last fight as he took the unanimous decision victory against Kurt Holobaugh.
With that said, we take a look at this fight on the prelims and give out our prediction and pick for this Radzhabov-Ogden matchup.
Loik Radzhabov (18-5-1) made a name for himself, spending a few seasons in the PFL's tournament before becoming a free agent. After that the UFC saw some potential and signed him up and started with a fight against Argentina's Esteban Ribovics whom he out-grappled to a decision victory.
Since getting his first victory inside the Octagon, Radhzabov has gone 1-1 over his next two fights most recently getting the biggest win in his UFC career with a brutal knockout of Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady putting his name on the map in the lightweight division.
Radzhabov has fought some tough competition during his time as a professional fighter and has been a finisher for the majority of his career.
Now, Radzhabov will look to extend his winning streak when he takes on Trey Ogden this weekend at the UFC Apex.
Radzhabov is at his best when he's able to impose his will against his opposition physically. They don't call him "The Tajik Tank" for nothing as he is massive for the lightweight division and he utilizes his size and strength to take down and mauls his opponents whenever he gets the chance in his fights.
While Radzhabov certainly has power in his hands as shown in his most recent victory, his easiest path to victory is to take Ogden down and just ground and pound him into oblivion. Seeing how Ogden has never had to deal with a grapple-heavy approach from anyone yet in his UFC career Radzhabov can make this a tough fight for him.
Trey Ogden (17-6)?secured his contract with the UFC after defeating former Contender Series alumni JJ Okanovich on Dana White's Looking For a Fight back in 2021. He's had an up-and-down UFC career that has had it's mixed results.
Ogden is now 2-2-1 where he is just 1-1-1 over his last three fights with one of those fights being deemed a No Contest after a premature stoppage against Nikolas Motta leaving him with just 1 victory in the last two years.
Ogden started off his career with a split-decision loss to Jordan Leavitt to then went 2-1-1 over his next four fights with the promotion.
Ogden may have no knockouts in his career but he's going to have the speed and length advantage over Radzhabov to where he should be able to utilize his movement and his kicks to stay on the outside to pick him apart at range. It will be up to Ogden to use his submission grappling skills to keep the fight on the feet to outstrike Radhzabov for the victory.
We have a great scrap in the lightweight division between these two surging competitors looking to take that next step up the lightweight rankings.
Ultimately, the pressure and the grappling of Radzhabov will be too much for Ogden to overcome and his submission abilities will be negated as well as his striking on the feet Radhzabov will just outwork Ogden for the entire fight getting the nod on the judge's scorecards.
