Cincinnati Bearcats vs Temple Owls Game Preview

On Wednesday night the Temple Owls travel to Fifth Third Arena on the campus of the University of Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats. Both teams are currently trying to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive. This should be one of the best games Wednesday Night with this ACC showdown.

The Bearcats are in a must-win game almost every night as they look to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive. Winning 7 of their last ten games is certainly helping push the Bearcats in the right direction. Cincinnati is also playing great offensively averaging just over 75 points per game in their 10 games. Much of that offensive success has come on the shoulders of Landers Nolley II who is averaging 16.3 points per game, and David Dejulius who is averaging just over 13 points per game for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati will look to control the tempo in this game and get out to an early lead.
The Bearcats haven’t played well this season when playing from behind. If Cincinnati plays their style of basketball and have good offensive production Nolley and Dejulius, they should come out on top in this game.

Temple is coming into Wednesday night’s game losing 4 of their last five. Their longest losing streak of the season. If the Owls can’t find a way to get back on track quickly they will soon find themselves outside of the tournament bubble. Temple is coming off a win however beating a very bad 5-21 Tulsa team on Sunday, in a game where Damian Dunn scored 24 points for Temple.

If Temple hopes to compete with the Bearcats Wednesday night they will have to slow down Cincinnati’s fast-paced offense and control the game. If Temple can somehow keep the Bearcats at under 70 points in this game they have a chance to win, Temple wants to stay away from a back-and-forth game with the Bearcats

Since 2014 the Bearcats and the Owls have met 18 times, with the Bearcats winning 17 of those matchups, however, the Owls are coming into this game winning the last 3 over Cincinnati. Most recently the Bearcats met the Owls back on New Year’s Day with Temple coming away with that game 70-61.

An 8-point game in this game really surprises me, Temple has played the Bearcats well in recent matchups coming away with a 9-point win over the Bearcats as recent as New Year’s Day. I think the Bearcats are playing better basketball right now and I think they win this game, but 8 points is a lot of points to give up in this game. The best bet here is to bet Temple to cover the spread.

This is an over/under I would stay away from betting on. At 140 it is pure luck with this bet both teams are capable of scoring in the 80s and both teams have shown they can have lackluster nights offensively. Tonight however I think we see a game that’s in the ballpark of 73-67. If was inclined to bet the over-under in this game my instinct tells me to bet the under.
