]]>This All-Star weekend was a memorable one for dunk fans and a landmark one for the professional dunkers who push the art of dunking to new levels.
On Saturday, we witnessed two of the NBA's best dunkers compete in arguably the greatest dunk off ever, by perfectly executing suggested "YouTube dunks" the professional dunkers have been doing for years. On Sunday, the day of the NBA All-Star game, the most memorable dunk of the night came from not one of the All-Stars, but the man many consider to be the best professional dunker in the world right now: Jordan "Mission Impossible" Kilganon of the dunk organization Dunk Elite.
During a commercial break, the 6'1 Canadian shocked the All-Stars by throwing down his trademark "Scorpion dunk"....IN JEANS! The dunk went viral online - something Jordan's dunks have done a couple of times in the past two years - as soon TNT showed the short clip and All-Stars such as Melo, Wade and Bosh going nuts after it.
He even got a high five from Drake.
Former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady even said he wish he could dunk like that.
Here's another angle of the dunk and a good angle of LeBron trying to figure out what just happened.
What All-Star viewers might not have noticed, is Jordan was referenced a few times during the weekend. On Saturday, the Inside the NBA crew and guest Terrence J raved about the performances by the professional dunkers, including Jordan K, in the upcoming "reality dunk show" called 'The Dunk King.'
The epic 2 day event was filmed back in 2015 and will air in May. The winner of that event won $100k (more than NBA dunk contest winners gets and 10 x more than the now defunct Sprite Showdown contest) and the winning dunk will become viral gold when it's shown.
One of the contestants, Zach Jones aka Jonsey - another white dunker who knows a thing or two about going viral - shared the show's teaser, which also aired on Saturday and featured a cameo by Jordan K.
They released a Sneak Peak on the new TV Show on TNT "Dunk King" featuring me and the Best Dunkers in the world last night during NBA All Star Weekend events! Will air during NBA Finals in May!! #DunkKing #ComingSoon

The Globe and Mail also released a nice feature on him this weekend.
Loved last night's NBA Slam Dunk Contest? Meet Jordan "Mission Impossible" Kilganon, a 6'1" professional dunker from Sudbury, Ontario. He's considered one of the best in the world. Could he out-dunk Zach LaVine?

]]>A short dunker with the last name of Height. How ironic? How impressive too, because when people say "short dunkers" they are usually talking about guys around the 5'10 mark. Anthony Height is only 5'6! That's an inch shorter than former dunk champ Spud Webb.
But what makes Anthony even more unreal is the fact that he's only 16 years old.....and will dunk on you!
Be sure to follow Anthony on Instagram for more dunks and shout out to former Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown All-Star Los for the vid.

]]>It was dunk heaven at the Phoenix 3on3 event this past weekend as dunk legend Kenny Dobbs hosted the "King of the Dunk Game" dunk contest along with former NBA slam dunk contest winner Isaiah "JR" Rider.
The participants included recent 2015 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown winner and "Sin City Saints" actor Myree "Reemix" Bowden, ?last year's dunk contest winner Sir Issac (with an extra inch or two on the mohawk), former LA Showdown winner Michael Purdie and 5x Showdown winner Werm.
Despite some pretty insane dunks, including Myree windmilling over a guy on a chair and 5'10 Issac jumping over a 7 footer, ?it would be 1 footer Werm who beat out the 4x Houston Rockets Blacktop Winner Sir Issac in the finals for the title.
Both Issac and Reemix will be throwing down some crazy dunks during the weekend of May 2nd when we host the 2015 Ballislife All-American Game in Long Beach. If you can't make it out, the game and festivities will be televised.
Also in May, Issac will be defending his Blacktop title in Houston - the event was originally scheduled for this month but was rained out.

]]>Cedric Ceballos' blindfold dunk remains one of the worst dunk contest winning dunks ever and a decade later, a young Baron Davis decided to pull out a blindfold and top Cedric by attempting a windmill dunk. Well, he failed pretty miserably and came up short...waaaay short! The judges were also waaay too generous on the McDonalds Dunk Contest Champ and gave him 6 and 7's.
After that, I was hoping we would never see another dunker pull out the blindfold but a decade later at the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown, youtube sensation Kenny Dobbs pulled out Cedric Ceballos who pulled out his blindfold and put it on Dobbs who somehow made a between the legs dunk over 3 people - blindfolded and on his first try!
After that, I said nobody should ever, ever pull out a blindfold again.
Enter the 2015 Philippine's Dunk Contest and Justin Melton. The PBA player attempted Baron Davis' blindfolded windmill and didn't jump nowhere near as far or as high as he needed to. Congrats Baron, you no longer have the worst blindfold attempt in history.
Don't think I'm "hating" on Baron who happens to be one of my 5 favorite players ever.

]]>Out of all of the great highlights from this weekend, my personal favorite might be seeing?Thanasis Antetokounmpo throw down a "540" dunk in the D-League dunk contest and then celebrating with his brother afterward. You are probably thinking WHY!?
So earlier in the day, we had the pleasure of hanging with Thanasis and his brother, Giannis, who helped him prepare for the D-League contest. During the practice session, Thanasis might have attempted the 540 (which is really a 360) 5 or 6 times until he got one down. Then each attempt after, he got a little more comfortable and the dunks got a little cleaner and powerful. Then when it was time for him to do it in the dunk contest, he nailed it on his first try.
Same goes for his next dunk, but a?messed up elbow attempt in the 2nd round and a couple of really sick dunks by Jarvis Threatt resulted in a loss by Thanasis.
But just like the night before, the supportive brothers looked like winners as they were all smiles with fans screaming for the Greek Freaks.
Be on the lookout for a short film we will be?putting out about the brother's dunk contest experiences this past weekend.
A lot of people are calling the very impressive dunk by Victor Oladipo the?"Victor Oladipo 540" but we have to give a shout out to Ballup's Air Up There aka Mr 720 who was the first person we have ever seen throw down the dunk. He did it back in?a Sprite Showdown contest in Dallas (when it was over 110 degrees) and then did it again during the 2011 NBA All-Star weekend.

OK, 10 year old LeBron James Jr aka Bronny wasn't throwing down reverse dunks at the Ronald Searles Holiday Classic in H-Town but he was showing glimpses of Daddy.
Daddy aka leader of the James Gang shared this video this morning with the following message.
"Proud of you son! Great job in Houston and congrats on bringing home 1st place. #IPROMISE #JamesGang #StriveForGreatness #RWTW"
It seems like it was just yesterday when we were at the Dallas All-Star game watching him and his brother shooting around with Dad before the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown.

]]>I'm sure it doesn't feel good to bang your head on a rim or backboard but it's a problem many ballers would love to experience atleast once just for storytelling purposes.
6'6 DeMatha Catholic High School sophomore D.J. Harvey now has one of these stories after he almost gave himself a concussion after blocking a shot and smacking his head on the backboard.
Now he knows how Michael Jordan felt when he did the same thing at UNC.
A couple of years ago during a Sprite Showdown contest, I got to witness pro dunker/streetball player Roscoe Johnson hit his head on the rim after throwing down a windmill. I guess it sucks to have so much hops....actually, I'm sure it's worth an occasional headache.

]]>The week before Allen Iverson made his NBA retirement official, he was playing overseas in the awesome annual LA Lights Streetball event that takes place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The international event usually includes many of the most popular and exciting American streetballers and dunkers, like The Professor, Air Up There, Hot Sauce, Guy Dupuy, T-Dub and Werm, and this year, the Ballup Streetball organization sent over a bunch of exciting fresh faces including Jessie "Spin Cycle" LeBeau, Chris "HoopStar" Staples, Sir Issac and Young Hollywood to play along side one very famous familiar face - Allen Iverson.
Iverson, playing with a towel on his head, took it easy on the competition and let his high flying teammates do most of the damage. Spin Cycle was breaking ankles and toying with defenders the way AI used to while Hollywood, Isaac and Staples did their damage playing way above the rim.
We caught up with one of those high flyers, Chris Staples, and talked about Iverson and his exciting trip to Indonesia.
Rank the following: Doing an event with Iverson. Dunking in front of thousands of people in another country. Meeting Rosario Dawson (with a Ballislife T on!).
Doing an interview press conference is #1 of course, dunking infront of the fans of Indonesia is next . But meeting and talking with Rosario Dawson is right up there
How did it feel doing a press conference with Allen Iverson?
It was an honor to be doing an actual real life press conference with A.I. I grew up watching him and wearing his shoes, or even wearing a sleeve like him. He's a future hall of famer and I know that was a once in a lifetime moment.
Was Iverson different than you expected?
Iverson was much cooler than I expected. The media always posts his crazy interviews that make him out to be extra arrogant, but he was real laid back and down to earth. He had jokes for days and we all had a good time.
In terms of the crowd energy and general atmosphere, is their difference between performing in the US compared to other countries like Indonesia.
I'm used to playing amongst BIG crowds. But this crowd energy was off the charts words can't explain. There was a BIG BIG difference in Jakarta, energy compared to recent events that I've been to in the U.S. Not to bash anyone, but I think America is spolied because they actually get to see us live all the time, whereas foreigners only can resort to YouTube. So to actually see it in person is a treat to them. And they most certainly showed their appreciation. It felt really good to see and hear the energy of the crowd. They were honored to have me there, but I felt more honored to be able to perform in front of them.
Do you think you, Sir Issac and Young Hollywood could take on the 3 best NBA dunkers in a fairly judged dunk contest?
I think, me, Sir Isaac and Young Hollywood could all definitely compete with ANY dunker in the NBA today.
What's next for Staples?
The next thing on the agenda is more than likely a trip to China within the next few days. Then I'm going out to the West coast to perform again.
Be on the lookout for a lot more from Staples. The Harlem Globetrotter blew up on the dunking scene this past year with exceptional performances in the Sprite Uncontainable Game, Showdown contest and the BET Awards exhibition.
As for Allen Iverson...he may be retired from the NBA but I don't expect this to be my last post about him.

This time it was Jusfly's turn to try and reign as champion 2 years in a row vs the likes of Werm, Young Hollywood and Golden Child. Golden Child got hurt in warm ups but the remaining 3 guys put on quite a show for the crowd.
In the end Young Hollywood, previously seen all over ESPN with his double up over Blake Griffin, was not able to hit his go to double up over 6'11 Ryan Hollins and Jusfly was not able to complete a dunk in time in the finals vs Werm.
Congrats to Werm on being the 2013 Nike 3on3 Slam Dunk Champ! Werm's been having a pretty good year so far. ]]>Blake Griffin was at the Santa Monica Place Central Courtyard Saturday night to promote the new Super Fly 2 sneakers, Blake App and Lift Off campaign for Jordan Brand but it was 5'10" Haneef "Young Hollywood" Munir that stole the show when he made a between the legs dunk over the 6'10" Blake Griffin.
We have seen, in person, Young Hollywood put on some crazy performances such as winning the Sprite Showdown Finals at All-Star weekend in LA in front of LeBron James or when he jumped over a mascot and pulled off the same dunk without stretching or any warm up dunks during a Nuggets half-time show but jumping over the foot taller Blake might go down as the best contest dunk of the year.

]]>The post Is 5'10" Sir Issac the "highest jumping dunker in the world?" appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>I had the pleasure of joining former NBA dunk champion Jeremy Evans, Dunk legend Darryl Dawkins and dunk phenom Myree "Reemix" Bowden" as a judge for the Dallas Sprite Showdown contest this past weekend. ?Besides convincing Jeremy Evans to be the Russian Judge, the highlight of the event was watching arguably the best dunker in the world (Kenny Dobbs) face off against arguably the highest jumping dunker in the world (Issac White aka Sir Issac). ?Kenny Dobbs, who won the 2012 Showdown finals at All-Star weekend with a blindfolded between the legs dunk over 3 people, left with another trophy and check to add to his dunk showcase but Houston dunker Sir Issac made the most noise that day especially with a between the legs over a person elbow dunk that was so powerful that it caused a screw to pop out of the rim.
This would be Issac's 4th time competing in the contest and amazingly his fourth time finishing second. ?Issac isn't doing anything wrong in the contest. His problem is he keeps showing up to contests where near unbeatable legends show up. ?He lost to Air Up There in a contest that Vince Carter in his prime could not of won. He lost to Werm who has won 4 times in 4 different cities and this time he lost to internationally known and Red Bull commercial star Kenny Dobbs.
Issac isn't internationally known yet but if you ask anybody that plays ball in Houston Texas they can tell you about how they saw the 5'10" freak posterize somebody at a local court and the following video is a sample of posters that Houstonians have been seeing for a while (skip to the to the 40 second mark to see some nasty posters).
I don't know if he is the "highest jumping dunker in the world" but on this day even the Russian judge had a hard time arguing against the claim.

]]>With less than 8 hours until the fireworks go off representing the end of 2012, i'm sitting here reflecting on all of the great moments of the past 12 ?months with my Ballislife family. ?I say family because the members of this clique don't see the hours on red eye flights, filming on the baseline, editing in hotel rooms, interviewing in the locker room or typing away thoughts at 4am on an iphone, ipad or imac as billable hours or a 9 to 5 but a lifestyle. ?We don't clock in or clock out and the only overtime we know is the one where clutch superstars show us why we love this game - this life.
It would be impossible for me to make a top 10 list or rank all of the great people and moments that we met and?experienced. ?We saw high school superstars from Andrew Wiggins to Jabari Parker to two sets of twins in high school. ?We saw kids in 4th and 5th grade show us the future while Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love showed us that old folks can still school youngbloods.?We saw inspirational ballers that showed us anything is possible from one arm Zach Hodskins to 5'5 dunk phenom Porter Maberry. ?We saw taller dunk phenoms defy gravity from Kirpartrick McCauley touching the top of the backboard to Gerald Green examining the top of the rim to Kenny Dobbs showing Kobe and LeBron that every dunk has not been done. ?We saw Team USA show the world that they are the best...but not best ever. ?We saw records broken even if it was a disgrace, ?we saw ankles broken and then dunks in the face. We saw more ballers rapping, 2Chainz balling and the pleasure of rapper of the year Kendrick Lamar?performing?at our 2nd Ballislife All-American Game. ?We played harder, we laughed harder and we trained harder...but maybe not as hard as Jacob Tucker. ?So with the hard, next to impossible task, of ranking these moments, I'm just going to break up the year into topics with links to the most popular and favorite stories of the year.

]]>Dunking is?perceived?to be a young man's game. Just ask David Stern and the NBA who even tried to put an age limit on the NBA Dunk Contest. ?I remember hearing about Ricky Davis calling the league office and they told him no because he's been in the NBA for more than 3 years. ?When an ex "dunker" now in his 30s like Vince Carter or Kobe Bryant throws down in a game now we have to hear the announcers yell "Vinsanity" or "afro Kobe" referencing the early NBA days of the player's career.
In the amateur dunk world, all you have to do is browse through the countless dunk videos on YouTube to see high flyers in their early to mid 20's defying gravity. ?I even see videos of ?16 year old kids doing dunks that used to get you straight 50s in past NBA dunk contests. ?If you follow the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown summer tours than you have seen any and every great "amateur" dunker show off in front of NBA players and legends and most of them are also in their early to mid 20s.
There is one?exception. ?A?29 year old dunker that is not only arguably one of the top 3 dunkers in the world but he continues to get better every year and that's why he's been a Showdown All-Star and judge for the past three years of the Showdown tour. ?Myree Bowden better known to the dunk world as Reemix has not only been defying gravity but age too.
Dunk fanatics (and women) ?first took notice of Reemix in the 2004 NCAA dunk contest where he showed off his windmill, dance skills and cowboy hat. ?His other skills took him on a journey everywhere from a spot with the Harlem Globetrotters to the TV show SlamBall before landing him in a seat next to LeBron James at every NBA Allstar game where they judged the Showdown finals.
I caught up with Reemix and asked him a few questions about his journey and his new Training program and Online Series, Project Prep, where he tracks the progression of future athletes and dunkers.
You first caught the attention of the dunk world, women in particular, for your NCAA dunk contest performance.
LoL, I have to say that the 2004 NCAA dunk contest was my debut to the world. I had been dunking on people for a while before I was blessed to participate in the dunk contest. Although I lost by a hair...cough..cough...robbed, it was the best dunk experience of my life.
Do you still have the hat?
As for the hat, lets just say that was the beginning and the end of that lol.
Where did you get your dunk inspiration from? Any specific player or?dunk contest performance?
I was a major fan of Stephon Marbury! ?When he caught that lob with his head at the rim I went crazy, but my real inspiration for dunking came when I was told that I was too small to play on the varsity team. ?That ignited a fire within me to not only play with the big boys but play head and heels above them. Every level I played of basketball I was considered undersized on paper but I made sure once?you've?played against me your scouting report changed.
Right out of college you joined the Harlem Globetrotters. ?How did you get involved with them?
During my senior year I sustained a stress fracture in my foot that sat me out for 17 games. The chances of a pro team taken a chance on me was slim to none. So I did what I knew to do for the remainder of my college career. I worked out! I strengthened my foot, the exercises I was doing also increased my jumping ability and that led to my passion. Jumping!
The Globetrotters recognized my talent during the NCAA dunk contest and offered me a contract. It wasn’t the NBA or overseas but it was a basketball history lesson. ?I traveled the world and experienced things I?wouldn't?have even imagined all from dunking.
What is a misconception people have about the Globbies?
People will appreciate the Globetrotters more when they know that those are real players that can actually ball but were dealt a bad hand at a certain point in their career but?didn't?give up their dream to play the game and entertain.
You also played in the Slam Ball league for a bit.?
Slamball was to the extreme. I love the fact that it was a human video game literally. I got involved with that by taken a leap of faith. It?wasn't?basketball, but it was competitive and a lot more fun lol… you could actually hit someone and it?wasn't?a foul.
I went in with 300+ other athletes that tried out and came out rookie of the year, 3rd in the league in scoring and making the playoffs but loosing in the semi-finals. The season didn’t continue the next year but I got some great jumping exercises to ad to my arsenal lol.
In 2009 you had what maybe the best 1on1 dunk match ever at the Sprite Showdown contest when you went against Guy Dupuy.
Guy is an elite dunker if not the best in the world close to it. It was fortunate to compete against him but unfortunate that it was fresh off of two broken chins. Big ups to Guy, not taking anything away from him. He did his thing!
In the video that was released by BIL you said you were gone for a bit but Reemix is back. Where did you get the name Reemix and what did you mean you were gone.
Reemix actually came from a good friend of mine. Although we played ball and that was the time he named me that, it had nothing to do with basketball. I got my degree in mass communication. We used to host a campus radio station and he came up with the Ree-mix hour… I used to spin well back then it was switch cassettes lol but it stuck. And There you have it lol… In the Video “Reemix is back” It was my come back from what physically was two stress fractures in both of my shins but spiritually it was God grounding my and helping me grab ahold on life and realize what my purpose was and to get my priorities straight. Once I came too I went back into the lab. Back to my workout regiment and this time it was for a purpose and that purpose was Keep God first and he will give you the desires of your heart.
You lost that contest but you became a touring Sprite All-Star for the next 3 years. I got to work with you during those tours and personally think you became the face and voice of the events and in many cities you, along with guys like Los, G-Smith and Sir Issac, ruined the events by putting on a better show than the dunk contestants.
I drink Sprite lol! I had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing people. Joe Sapps. Matt Mr. Ball is life, Arek K. you and the rest of the ball is life family and myself have been in this streetball game together since we started. Those are my right hand mans. Pause. We made it!
Joe and I worked on the biggest stage in the dunk world with the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown and now Uncontainable and we saw talent like T-Dub, Guy, Gsmith, Sir Isaac, Air Dogg, Young Hollywood, the list goes on,?that people only viewed online, but most importantly I accomplished my dream. ?I wanted to make it to the NBA when I was younger. Even though my road was different and sometimes seemed impossible it happened. I am working with the NBA! Dreams do come true if you don’t give up and fully commit yourself.
So what are you up to now?
And now I want to share my blue print of becoming an elite dunker. Which is why I was able to continue pursuing my dream. I have released my own personalize workout that I have been doing for years. Exercises that are proven and a regiment that works. Its not free for two reason. This information is was not given to me it was earned by hard work. And lastly anything that you purchase holds more value than something that was just given. So the Project Prep vertical leap Program, ten years in the making, is finally complete to my satisfaction.
I have been picking the minds of the many strength coaches I've trained with during my career of dunks and spending countless hours in the gym to find out the specific exercises most effective in my explosive vertical. I am proud to release a program that I have witness first hand to be 100% effective. It was once exclusive information to local athletes I have trained 1 on 1 but with the results and many inquiries over the social media, I have gave the world access to my secrets.
Many vertical leap programs you see over the net are put together by people who have never experienced actually going through the workouts and obtaining an elite vert. That is what makes Project Prep so unique! It is my own personal workout put together from a series of workouts I have accumulated over the years of my career. I am a product of the Product and Guarantee results.
The following is the first video in the Project Prep Vertical Leap Project. ?Each week, Reemix will post an update on Trenton Robertson to see his progress with the jump program.

Not many people know about G Smith yet but that's soon to change as he works his way up the list of the best dunkers in the world. What separates G from other dunkers is the fact that he's probably a better in-game dunker and a true baller.
