At the 82nd Pontiac Tournament (Pontiac, IL), Chicago Curie's star junior Cliff Alexander put on a dunk show while averaging 20.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks for the third-place Condors. Alexander scored 21 points on 9 of 10 shooting in Curie's 62-57 semifinal loss to Simeon, and was 38 of 48 from the field during the tournament. He was unstoppable!

Chicago’s 6’11 star junior Jahlil Okafor has simply dominated the competition. He is unguardable. Here’s a recap of Chicago's #1-ranked (for the first time in several years) Whitney Young Magnet High School’s 4-0 start. Young is a Chicago Public school, but they play a national hoops schedule.

Game 1: W 72-48: 34 points, 9 rebounds while holding 6-9 North Carolina State recruit BeeJay Anya to 11 points and five rebounds for nationally-ranked DeMatha (MD). MSU’s Izzo among the 7,000+ in the gym.

Game 2: W 99-38: 31 points, 9 rebounds in less than 2 quarters. Okafor scored at will in this conference blowout.

Game 3: W 98-49: In 15 minutes, shot 13-13 (27 points, 9 rebounds, 6 block) including 15 points in 3rd quarter (and a 3-pointer) in front of Illinois coach John Groce and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski in packed home opener vs #25 previously unbeaten Westinghouse.

Game 4: W 103-46: 10 dunks, 21 points in front of OSU coach Thad Matta and alum Jared Sullinger (Celtics) in another conference blowout.

Under the radar no more: 6’1 Jevon Carter from Proviso East HS (Maywood, IL) is poised to have a breakout junior season.
There are high hopes for this season’s Proviso East Pirates squad currently ranked #13 nationally by Maxpreps’ preseason poll. Last season, senior point guard Keith Carter (see last season’s ballislife mixtape) led the Pirates to an undefeated regular season and a trip downstate to the Illinois state championship game.
During this fall’s preseason, Keith's cousin, sweet-shooting 6ft1 2-guard Jevon Carter has burst onto the Chicago hoops scene as a junior with his high motor and scoring abilities. He’s quick. He gets to the rim and he finishes. At the recent Mac Irvin Fire Back to School Jam (Riverside-Brookfield HS) and NBU Fall League (Whitney Young HS), Jevon Carter was scoring in bunches.

At DePaul University’s recent team camp (for the Chicago area’s elite high school teams), Tyler Ulis (Marian Catholic High School) showed why he’s considered one of Chicago’s top players (regardless of class).
An accurate shooter, high-level passer, and formidable ballhandler, Ulis always has potential to take over the game when he steps on the court.
Now 5’7 (and growing), Ulis averaged 14 points as a freshman and over 22 points as a sophomore to go with 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
Heading into his junior year, Ulis is currently holding offers from DePaul and Loyola (Chicago, IL).
Ulis plays Spring/Summer basketball with Chicago powerhouse Meanstreets (17U).

Stanley is one of the few players across the country who is below the correct age for his class. While most basketball playing kids are graduating at 18 or 19, Stanley will graduate at 17 years old. Why do I mention this? Because of the type of game he has already. I give most of that praise to his mom Karen who is in the women's college hall of fame. Stanley is constantly the smartest kid on the floor when I watch him play. That's probably a reason why he is on the USA 16u team and made the Pangos All-American top 20 game at yes.....15 years old. With all the videos about top this and top that, I really don't think there's a better 15 year old in the country than Stanley Johnson. Stanley Was 14 when this footage was filmed.
