After 30 years of being in charge of the League, our all-time favorite NBA commissioner, David Stern, announced his retirement plans for February of 2014.

Stern announced his retirement during a NBA Board of Governors meeting Thursday, leaving his partner-in-crime since 2006, Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver, to fill in his shoes.

"I decided that things are in great shape and there's an organization in place that will ultimately be led by Adam that is totally prepared to take it to the next level," Stern declared.

Stern, who has been in charge of the National Basketball Association since 1984, is the longest serving commissioner. After the roller coaster ride we all went through with the NBA lockout, Stern then began to plan out his retirement scheme and is now ready to enjoy his last year as commissioner.

"Life is a journey and it's been a spectacular journey," Stern said. "Each step along the way there are things that you have to do, things that you maybe wish you hadn't done. But I don't keep that list, and so I'm totally pleased and I'm particularly pleased with the transition of which we're now embarking."

We're all glad you didn't decide to keep that list, Commissioner.
