Grayson Boucher aka The Professor is a 5’10″ basketball player who has never played a minute in the NBA but has a bigger following than most of the players in the league. He’s been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He's been on the cover of a video game. He's been in multiple movies and was the lead actor in a film with Ludacris and Academy Award winner Melisa Leo. He has a basketball card. He's one of the biggest reasons why "Streetball” became marketable and profitable for it's players and the show STREETBALL became one of ESPN’s most viewed shows ever. He's appeared in numerous commercials. He's traveled around the world playing alongside NBA legends like Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady. He was the star and co-creator of one of the most popular viral sports videos of all-time: Spider-Man Basketball. And he's been doing this since the early 2000s.

Ballup's Grayson Boucher, better known to most of you all a ankle-breaking And1 legend "The Professor," didn't get his nickname from?teaching kids lessons off the court but here's some words of advice from the man that deserves a podium full of full of young kids and ballers that want to be successful.

Young, decent and elite hoopers pay attention... 1 of a few major differences between players who succeed in the game(college/pro) and players who have just good high school careers is that the players who succeed bring a high level of intensity to EVERY GAME.

Don't be the guy who only brings his A game in certain games then in other games is just average. Those are the players who you hear say,?"I was killing so and so and he ended up going pro. Shoot, they should have gave me a shot." The truth is NO they shouldn't have. You had your chance and were not consistent. You failed to bring it EVERY game. You have to be able to have a GOOD or GREAT game 80% or 90% of the time to be elite and get opportunities in this game. Thats 1 major difference between the dude who just plays highschool and the dude who plays juco.. the dude who only plays juco and the dude who goes Division 1... the dude who only plays Division 1 and the dude who plays over seas.. ect.

There's guys with decent potential who will play against elite players and go 300% all the sudden because they know the elite player is tough. They end up hitting shots they never hit, pull of moves they never usually can. D up twice as hard. But little do they know, if they can do this one game that means they have the ability to bring that intensity EVERY game. But the reality is most fail to do that. It takes extra time in the gym, extra jumpers, have to be in great shape, study the game, be willing to be uncomfortable. All things that AREN'T easy.

Conclusion: DONT be that guy. Bring your A game intensity EVERY game! You may not have a great game always but you'll give yourself a better shot at succeeding.

Probably? Probably? We talking about the best draft class ever!
A reporter made the mistake of asking Allen Iverson about his famous 1996 draft class, which includes Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Ray Allen and many other notable players, by saying "probably the most accomplished" class ever. Iverson gave him a smile and said "whatcha mean probably."

That's one of the many great moments in Iverson's media interview at the NBA Cafe in the Philippines for the "All In" celebrity basketball game that goes down today. Iverson will be on the sidelines coaching the game which features ex NBA players like Eddy Curry, DeMar Johnson and the exciting Ballup Streetball crew with our friends The Professor, Air Up There, BC and G-Smith.

Iverson was also asked who he thought were the 5 best five players of all-time and if he would include himself on the list. He said he would have to leave himself off at the 2 because Michael Jordan plays the 2. The other players on his sure to be well discussed?starting 5 included Magic, LeBron, Charles Barkley and Shaq. He added that Bird would be the next player on the list.

Another great response came when a reporter asked if he was interested in coaching. Iverson jokingly said "no" and "we would never practice."

He did say he was interested in mentoring.

“All I want to do is advise. The knowledge that I have, I want to be able to put it to use. I want to be able to be someone to come in and give my opinion on what can turn the franchise around. That’s what I want to do when it comes to basketball,” said Iverson.

“It’s a lot of other things, to speak to up-and-coming players and the little kids, give them my thoughts on how to try to make it in basketball. Things like that, to be able to have that voice.

“I would tell them not to put so much pressure on themselves to excel right from the beginning. To be able to let yourself grow, don’t feel like you gotta come right in and turn into a household name right from the beginning. Don’t be so hard on yourself, let it come to you.”

Another gem he threw out was when he was talking about his 16 year old son who he feels is "way better" than he was at the age which is saying a lot considering how great AI was at age 16.

"This is not the last of the Iversons."

Another day another Chris Brown appearance on Ballislife. The singer has been everywhere this Summer and last week we showed you Breezy showing off his handles at the Roc Nation Summer Classic and yesterday he was showing off his hops at the Power 106 Celebrity All-Star Game at the Galen Center in LA.

As impressive as Brown's hops are, the event had high flyers Airdogg and Young Hollywood to supply the highlight dunks and as impressive as Brown's handles are, the event had Ballup's Bone Collector there to break ankles - just ask Trey Songz (video above) who ended up on the floor trying to defend the streetball legend. As for rapper The Game - he didn't want to end up on a Dunkademics' video so he refused to play any D on BC.

The game also featured Tyga, Nick Cannon, a performance by Ariana Grande, coaching by Nick Young and celebs guests like Floyd Mayweather.

This is what happened back in the 2003 NBA rookie/sophomore games when Jason Richardson, inspired by watching streetballer like the Professor on a few And1 Mixtapes, bounced the ball off of Carlos Boozer's head before hitting a 3 pointer.  Booze took exception to the streetball move and said it was disrespectful after the game.

No player has probably done this "disrespectful" but oh so awesome move to defenders around the world more than The Professor and during a Chinese Exhibition Tour (with Allen Iverson), class was in session as The Professor found the 6'8 Chinese version of Carlos Boozer and gave him a demonstration of the move. Like Boozer, the Chinese pro took exception and almost started an international riot between him and The Professor's Ballup teammates.

You might be thinking it's not that wise to throw the ball off the face of a frustrated defender, especially one that is much bigger than you, but The Professor has no fear and luckily for him is one lucky MF too because he once did this move on boxer Manny Pacquiao!  Yes, he threw the ball off the face of Manny Pacquiao.  I repeat, Yes, Grayson "The Professor" Boucher is still alive and on tour with Ballup and did not die after throwing the ball of the face of Manny Pacquiao.

Something happened yesterday in Birmingham Alabama that I never thought was going to happen - the Ballup team lost a game. ?The opposing team coached by Gilbert Arenas and Eric Bledsoe and made up of local ballers came away with a 1 point victory and gave the Ballup team their first loss in the team's 4 years of existence.

Something else happened yesterday in Birmingham Alabama that I have seen plenty of times but rarely as nasty as this instance. ?The Bone Collector crossed a defender so bad (off the screen) that BC looked at his (imaginary) watch and started counting the seconds until the defender made a recovery.

Don't expect to see another loss anytime soon but do expect to see us talking about another ankle breaking move by BC very soon.

I'm sure you hear this a lot or maybe you are the one saying it: Streetballers can't play "real ball" or "organized ball."

We could go on all day trying to define "real" and "organized" but a good majority of the best guys you see on those And1 mixtapes and the Ballup tour that you think can only dunk with no defense being played or do fancy dribbling tricks if a ref isn't calling anything, actually played college ball, overseas and in competitions where they outplayed "pro" players.

Hugh Jones aka Baby Shaq has a resume that includes averaging 20 & 10 in college, playing overseas, Red Bull King of the Rock championship and a MVP title from the Goodman League.  Aaron Owens aka AO was a Division II All-American and then played pro ball in Israel and the D-League.  Renaldo Johnson aka Violator played seven years overseas and helped his college team win a Southern Conference Championship. Anthony Pimble aka Mr Afrika helped his junior college team win two consecutive conference championships. Special FX played at St. Johns and the list goes on and on.

So what about Grayson Boucher aka The Professor? That 5'10 white kid that probably doesn't weigh more than 150 pounds even with a Spiderman suit on.  Well, the video above shows The Professor playing in a D1 pro game in China against CBA pros with CBA rules.  I would say 25 points and 5 assists in this game means he can play "real" or "organized" ball.

His team came up just short after coming back from an over 20 pt deficit in the first half. Ballup had the at capacity crowd on their feet the entire game at the Pyramid of Long Beach State. Allen Iverson? Tim Hardaway, Jamal Crawford, Steve Francis? Those are the usual suspects that pop up in the conversation for best handles and/or crossover in NBA history but the answer to best handles in the entire universe (maybe just the Marvel Universe) is Spider-Man! Please excuse the fact that he has web that allows him to carry or palm the ball easier than MJ and please ignore that ridiculous scene in the Spiderman reboot a couple of years ago with that Social Network kid. ?If you haven't seen the scene than please spend the next 2 minutes doing so by watching the video below.

I liked the film overall, especially the more serious scenes but that corny scene is going to be left out of the argument. ?We will also ignore the impostor (actually Andrew Garfield taking a break from filming the Spiderman sequel) that was seen a few months ago playing ball at a basketball court in Chinatown with a bunch of kids.

The real web slinging ankle breaking Spider-Man is the one in the first video above toying with the Kevin Durant fan. ?And I hate to break it to all of you Marvel fanatics but Spidey's real name isn't Peter Parker it's Grayson Boucher.

Traveling from Los Angeles to New York, the team will kick off an exciting series of action-packed games on June 22, in Kansas City, MO and will wrap up with a championship game in conjunction with TD Jake’s Megafest festival in Dallas, TX on August 31.

Ball Up’s innovative spin on the game of streetball has redefined the sport by bringing some of the top, untapped talent to basketball courts across the world along with big name stars that have graced the NBA hardwood as well. This year’s impressive roster includes, The Professor, AO, Baby Shaq, Air Up There, Bone Collector, Pat the Roc, Special FX, Springs, Sik Wit It, Violator and G. Smith. Rafer “Skip to My Lou” Alston and Sebastian Telfair will both serve as judges for the open run tryouts in each city. One of the most upsetting things I constantly hear from kids is "Hakeem Olajuwon dominated Shaquille O'Neal in the 1995 NBA Finals." Those kids are thinking about David Robinson, not Shaq! Or, they are just assuming since the Orlando Magic were swept, Shaq was a no-show.

Me and Tracy Murray -- a member of the 95 Championship Houston Rockets -- talked in-depth about the series yesterday and how Hakeem may have been consistently great in the series but it was the role players for the Rockets that stepped up in every game (while the role players for the Magic disappeared and choked) that won the Rockets their second championship in two years.

For Houston, we had Kenny Smith hitting a three with 1.6 seconds left to put the game into OT after Nick Anderson missed four (not one, not two, not freaking three, but fucking four) consecutive free throws. Dennis Scott was MIA for Orlando on offense and defense (he was always MIA in this category), while his man, Clyde Drexler, was putting up big numbers and leading the team in assists. The Magic bench was non-existent while the Rockets had Sam Cassell scoring 30 off their bench. Then we have Robert Horry, who was 2nd in Finals MVP voting, setting multiple NBA Finals records for 3's and steals. Besides putting up roto-God stats, he sealed Game 3 with a three in the final 20 seconds of the game.

I had this same conversation with Mr. Big Shot Horry a couple of years ago. Even though he said he would take Hakeem over Shaq (who he also won 3 rings with), he was in agreement that Hakeem and his impressive 33/12/6/2/2 average in the Finals did not "dominate" Shaq and his almost as impressive 29/13/6/0/3 average, which included a 26 point, 16 rebound, 9 assist Game 1 and a 33 point, 12 rebound, 7 assist Game 2.

Another thing that both former Rockets were obviously in disagreement with me about (although Horace Grant agreed with me) is my statement that the Magic would have won the series if Nick Anderson wouldn't have missed those free throws at the end of Game 1. I thought it changed the mindset of both teams. Both players said that the Clutch City Rockets was such a poised and complete team they weren't even nervous when they were down by double figures in Game 1 -- Clyde Drexler denies this.

HAKEEM VS SHAQ: THE REMATCH

A month after the NBA Finals, Taco Bell put together an interesting "secret campaign" with Shaq and Hakeem that started with a one-page ad in the USA Today. The full pager was a one-on-one challenge from Shaq to Hakeem that the mass public actually took seriously. A week later, Taco Bell let the public know the letter was just a promotional piece for an upcoming Pay-Per-View one-on-one game between the two centers for a million dollars.

"It's just us. No Andersons, no Hardaways, no Tomjanovich, no Brian Hill," O'Neal told the LA Time about the event, which will feature a 12-second shot clock and even a six-point shot.

Due to a "sore sacroiliac from lifting weights," Hakeem backed out of the event a day before the event was supposed to happen.

Taco Bell thought about trying to find a last-minute replacement and everybody from Alonzo to a tag-team of Mugsy Bogues and Spud Webb were considered. They ended up just canceling the event and refunding the estimated million dollars in buys. Shaq was disappointed, I was pissed and promoter Donald Trump hinted the NBA was to blame.

"There's a rumor out there that the NBA had something to do with it. But it's just a rumor," said Trump to the LA Times.

(UPDATE: In 2016, I asked Hakeem what happened to the event and he said he couldn't remember. Before I could follow-up that question with a prediction, Robert Horry interrupted and said, "he wanted more money.")

I wasn't just pissed because I wanted to see Shaq dunk on Hakeem like he's already done five times in three seasons, I was looking forward to the opening acts: Nick Van Exel vs Kenny Anderson and rookies Joe Smith going at Kevin Garnett.

Since the event never happened and people don't remember regular season games (where Shaq usually outplayed Hakeem), the only thing most people have is boxscores, YouTube clips and the misconception that Shaq was dominated by Hakeem for four games in 1995. A thought that's as ridiculous as these Taco Bell commercials with Spike Lee.
