The 2023 Ballislife All-American Game presented by Crossover Culture is one of the nation’s marquee all-star games. The 2023 Ballislife All-American Game, the tenth anniversary edition, will take place on Saturday, May 6, at Cerritos College in Southern California. 47 former Ballislife All-Americans have been chosen in the NBA Draft and 27 have been first round choices.

The Ballislife All-American Game presented by Crossover Culture was created in 2011 with the goal of bringing a credible national All-American game to the West Coast. It has grown to become one of the three most prestigious senior all-star games nationally. The 2023 edition of the Ballislife All-American Game will take place Saturday, May 6 at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif.

For the first time ever, the event will feature a Ballislife All-American girls game. The girls game will tip at 5pm ET, the slam dunk and 3-point contest will take place at 7pm ET and the boys game is scheduled to tip at 8pm ET. The game will be streamed online on Youtube.com.

This will be the first time the event takes place since 2019 because of COVID-19 restrictions in Los Angeles County. In 2019, Team Elite edge out Team Future, 123-122, at the Long Beach Entertainment & Convention Center, as Jahmi'us Ramsey of Duncanville, Texas (Elite) and Isaiah Mobley of Rancho Christian in California (Future) took home game MVP honors for their respective teams. Past game MVPs include NBA players Collin Sexton (2017), Lonzo Ball (2016), Zach Lavine (2013), Donovan Mitchell (2015), Jordan Bell (2013) plus MLB pitcher Amir Garrett (2011).

General admission tickets for this year's event start at $15 until 4/15, $20 from 4/15 - 5/1, and $25 from 5/2 - gameday. So get your tickets sooner than later. Tickets can be purchased by card or cash at the door and children ages five and over required to have a ticket. Parking is $3 and metered by Cerritos College.

The game’s success is reflected in the participants' future success. There have been 27 BILAAG alumni taken in the first round of the NBA Draft, not including those who were selected Ballislife All-Americans in the three years the event was not held.

Norwalk, Calif. – For the first time in the eight-year history of the Ballislife All-American Game presented by Eastbay, the game went into overtime, with Team Future defeating Team Elite, 146-143, before a capacity crowd at Cerritos College (Calif.). The winning team (which wore White jerseys) overcame its 10-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter to eventually force overtime and earn the win.

The catalyst for Team Future down the stretch was 7-foot, UCLA-bound center Moses Brown, who scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half. His offensive rebound putbacks were huge in the fourth period and he also set an all-time Ballislife All-American Game record with four blocked shots, including a critical defensive play in overtime. Brown, the CHSAA MVP while playing for Archbishop Malloy (Queens, N.Y.), also had nine rebounds for Team Future.

Brown was named the game's co-MVP along with LSU-bound forward Emmitt Williams of Team Elite, which wore Black uniforms. Williams, had an assortment of alley-oop and putback dunks to finish with game-highs of 31 points and 12 rebounds. Williams, who led Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.) to a final No. 8 FAB 50 ranking, was one of three LSU recruits to participate in the game, including teammate Naz Reid of Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), who netted a team-high 23 points for the Black Team. The third player who will join the Bayou Bengals this fall is guard Ja'Vonte Smart of Scotlandville Magnet (Baton Rouge, La.). Smart scored 21 points for Team Elite.

After Team Future made its comeback, it was basically a one possession game for the last six minutes of regulation and the overtime. In overtime, Smart's lay-up tied the game at 143-143 with 25 seconds remaining. With 17 seconds remaining, shooting guard Luther Muhammad of Hudson Catholic (N.J.) was fouled in the act of shooting and made one of two free throws. That free throw, turned out to be the winning point, as Muhammad missed the second one only to see the ball called out of bounds on Team Elite in the scramble near the sidelines. Muhammad, who finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds (team-high) and five assists, then canned two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to account for the final points.

Team Elite had one last possession to go for the tie, but a long 3-pointer by point guard James Akinjo of Salesian (Richmond, Calif.) rimmed out and a last-ditch 3-point attempt by Smart was off the mark.

Akinjo, who finished with 11 points, tied a game record with four steals and his defense and intensity set the tone for a close game that featured a couple of streetball-type "battles" while still maintaining its integrity. Akonjo, headed for Georgetown, battled with Brandon Williams (4 points) of Crespi (Encino, Calif.). Smart also had a spirited battle with Ohio St.-bound Duane Washington Jr. (15 points) of Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.).

Akonjo's future college teammate, Mac McClung, won the BILAAG Slam Dunk Contest presented by Eastbay. McClung defeated Oregon-bound Miles Norris of Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) in the final after recording a score of 43 on his first dunk of the contest. The 3-point contest was captured by West Virginia-bound Jordan McCabe of Kaukauna (Wis.), who ignited the crowd with his long range marksmanship. In between the dunk contest and 3-point shootout, Brandon Williams made his college choice public. Williams, who was overcome with a bit of emotion while thanking his parents, will attend the University of Arizona.

Something had to give in this game, as Chino Hills came in averaging over 100 points per game, with Bishop Montgomery giving up less than 47 points per game. Bishop Montgomery (21-1) executed its game plan, limiting the RUN GMZ scoring outbursts, getting back on defense in transition, and defending the 3-point line well, but Chino Hills (22-0) still found a way to pull out the gut-check four-point victory before an overflow crowd in the most anticipated regular season high school basketball game played in the region since Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) played a James Harden-led Artesia (Lakewood, Calif.) team at Chapman University during the 2006-07 season. It was the most highly-anticipated regular season event at Cerritos College since O.J. Mayo and his North College Hill (Cincinnati, Ohio) team played a two-game set at the Rise or Fall Invitational in December 2005.

Bishop Montgomery led 39-37 at halftime and looked like it might be on its way to victory when sophomore guard David Singleton (22 points) made a field goal to give the Knights a 60-52 lead with 6:23 remaining. Chino Hills quickly answered with a 3-pointer by freshman Li'Melo Ball (18 points) to stay within range.

The play of Chino Hills' two 14-year old freshmen turned out to be the story of the game, as Melo Ball made clutch plays and 6-foot-9 center Onyeka Okongwu made an impact defensively and scored timely buckets. The freshman big man had two key field goals, including a basket with 1:02 remaining in the game. He also partially blocked a driving lay-up attempt by Bishop Montgomery with under 20 seconds remaining and Chino Hills leading 69-66. Melo Ball hit three of four free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.

Okongwu's 10 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks were huge in a game in which Mr. Basketball USA candidate Lonzo Ball struggled from the field. He finished with five points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists -- but his team still found a way to win.

For Montgomery, Ethan Thompson did a good job defensively on Zo Ball and added 17 points, while fellow junior Jordan Schakel had 19 points.

Li'Angelo Ball led Chino Hills in the scoring department with 22 points and added nine rebounds and five assists. Forward Eli Scott also picked up the slack with 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.
