If you were watching hoops and buying VHS tapes in the early to mid-90s, you probably had a copy of this one next to "Michael Jordan's Come Fly With Me." I'm watching it today (the actual VHS tape, not the digital copy above) because today is the anniversary of the 1992 Dream Team winning Gold in Barcelona. The Dream Team wasn't just the greatest basketball team ever assembled, it's arguably the greatest team in sports history.

BUT, here's a very unpopular opinion: I actually believe there have been other US teams that could have beat this team if they were able to time travel and play each other during their Olympic years (ex: 92 Dream Team vs 94 Dream Team 2).

What am I smoking right?

The biggest reason why the 92 Dream Team -- with a past-his-prime Magic Johnson and barely-able-to-stand Larry Bird -- was able to dominate the Olympics by an average of 44 points a game is because the players from other countries were either too scared or star-struck to compete; Opponents were actually asking for autographs and shoes before, during and after the games. A young team like the trash-talking DT2 with Shaq, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Shawn Kemp, Derrick Coleman, Reggie Miller and DT1 snub Dominique Wilkins wouldn't have that bow-down respect or fear of the 92 legends.

Then again, there is that story about the Dream Team absolutely destroying a team of young future pros like Chris Webber and Grant Hill.

And the Dream Team had an early 90s' Michael Jordan, who was arguably the greatest version of the greatest player of all-time.

And the Dream Team had David Robinson and Karl Malone before their MVP seasons. And Pippen before people realized he might be the most complete and versatile player in the NBA. And a fit Charles Barkley, who said "I don't know anything about Angola but Angola's in trouble" before elbowing a player on the Angola team.

OK, forget everything I said about Dream Team 2 (I just wanted to show the team some love) or was about to say about any other team that probably shouldn't have had "Dream" in their name (like 1996's Dream Team 3 with Mitch Richmond and Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson). The 1992 Dream Team is and will always be the greatest team ever assembled!

Draymond Green in Game 2 vs the Pelicans reminded everyone why they love and/or hate him so much.

His fans will point out how he flirted with another triple-double (20 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds) and is averaging 13.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists in the playoffs. They will also point out the energy he brought to the game and how it pumps up his teammates and gets under the skin of opponents.

His critics will point out his trash-talking, stare-downs and ability to get into situations that had Charles Barkley saying, "I just want somebody to punch him in the face" during halftime of the game. One of those situations was a modern day NBA "altercation" with him and Rajon Rondo yapping in each other's faces. The other was him and Anthony Davis recreating Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone's wrestling incident from Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.

After the win, Green was asked (of course he was) about Barkley's comments.

"A lot of guys talk on TV," Green said. "Stand behind the microphone on the TV screen. Fact of the matter is, if you feel that strongly about something, he's even seen me a million times, then punch me in my face when you see me. If you're not going to punch me in my face when you see me, then shut up. It's no different than somebody sitting behind a computer screen, tweeting, 'I'll knock you out,' and you never see him in life.

"He's seen me a bunch of times. Punch me in the face when you see me, or if not, no one cares what you would have done. You're old and it is what it is. You ain't going to punch me when you see me, then stop talking about it, period."

He continued to talk about Barkley with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic.

"I think it's pretty sad," Green said. "It's probably something that needs to ... when you look at the president of TNT, David Levy, which I know well, it's kind of embarrassing on their behalf ... I'm an employee of the NBA, he's an employee of TNT. And you have your biggest sponsor, one of the faces of that company, saying that on national television. That's embarrassing for them. So that's something -- a problem that they have."

Green's Mom even took to twitter to throw in her two cents.

I'm sure we will be getting a response from Charles Barkley during the next TNT game and wouldn't be surprised to hear a few words from Kevin Durant, who isn't a big fan of Barkley's criticism of current players.

“I’m going to apologize to Draymond and his Mom, because his Mom (Mary Babers-Green) said some stuff on Twitter today I heard about,” Barkley said. “She said, ‘Oh Barkley, I dare you…’

“Listen, I don’t get offended by anything. My job is not to become part of the story, and I did, and I was wrong for that.”

He's not as polarizing as LaVar Ball but before the BBB creator became a household name, Charles Barkley probably had the title of most loved and equally hated big bald black man in American talking about basketball.

Some members of our ultra sensitive society consider his Inside the NBA jokes -- from making fun of churro-eating women in San Antonio to fat Suns cheerleaders on hoverboards to NBA players needing rest -- offensive and/or ignorant. To me, they are hilarious and also very tame compared to things he used to say during interviews and in his autobiographies like Who's Afraid Of A Large Black Man?

So what does it take to make Russell Westbrook smile and enjoy a post-game interview? How about an opportunity for him to roast Charles Barkley.

"He might be the worst dresser on that panel," replied Westbrook when David Aldridge pulled out an infamous pic of Barkley in 92. "By far. It's not even close. Chuck is terrible."

THE NBA DRAFT

Barkley wasn't happy about being drafted to the 76ers during the great 1984 draft. If that wasn't bad enough, he had to be drilled with questions about not making the Olympic team and being overweight while wearing one awful suit.

MEETING CHRIS WEBBER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Barkley and Chris Webber have had their memorable moments. Most will remember when a rookie Webber went behind his back and dunked over Barkley. Some might remember Barkley getting revenge by dropping 54 points (27 in the first quarter) on Webber in the 1994 Playoffs.  I'm sure Webber remembers both of those encounters and the pants Barkley was wearing when they first met during Webber's high school days.  Shout out to Rick Mahorn!

ANYTHING LESS WOULD BE UNCIVILIZED

There's nothing wrong with the outfit but this throwback was too good for me not to use.

In the early 90s, Barkley did a bunch of commercials for Right Guard deodorant and here's his most memorable one with the line, "off to the foxes."

LOOKING FOR A MAP

This pic came during the Dream Team's visit to Barcelona. It looks like he's looking for a local map and hopefully directions to a clothing store. The expression on the guy in the back says it all.

GEORGE?

I know it's George magazine and they needed an eye-catching cover but this was just awkward. And speaking of magazine covers, here's his controversial SI cover photo for the "Charles Unchained" issue.

SHAQ'S SPARKLES

This jacket supposedly belonged to Shaq and Barkley wore it during an episode of Inside The NBA. Maybe he was honoring Elton John that night.

THE FORCE

This is the most famous fashion mistake by Barkley and the one Russell Westbrook had a laugh at. Despite the outfit, it didn't stop the fans in Barcelona from trying to get his autograph while slipping him their phone numbers.

LOSE LIKE A MAN

By far the worst look on Barkley is when he tries to look like those Churros-eating women in San Antonio he's always making fun of.  There's this "Loose Like A Man" Weight Watchers' campaign and there's the time he played Alicia Keys on SNL.

The latest Shaqtin' A Fool with AL Horford ducking from a rebound is pretty hilarious but the funniest thing from the Inside The NBA episode after the Kyrie Irving GM4 show was Barkley telling Shaq he was going to throw a chicken wing at his fat ass.

The chicken wing threat happened after Shaq started talking about Barkley not having a ring and only going to the Finals once. Barkley responded by saying Shaq rode the coattails of Kobe and Dwyane Wade. The joke seemed to annoy Shaq, who fired back with some name-calling, saying some people question why Barkley is in the hall of fame (only an idiot would question that) and (jokingly) said he was going to punch Barkley in the face one day. Barkley then delivered the lines of the night with there's "going to be some furniture moving" and "I'm going to throw a chicken wing at your fat ass."

When Shaq threatened to throw a chicken wing at Barkley, Chuck hilariously took a shot at Kenny Smith: "You don't want to get it on this cheap suit Kenny got on."

And this would be a good time to revisit their fist fight in 1999.

The always outspoken Charles Barkley took a lot of heat for recently saying the Warriors play "girly basketball" and will probably take a lot more today for his latest SMH moment on "Inside the NBA."  During the revealing of Barkley's Top 25 Players list, Kenny Smith went off on Barkley after seeing Chuck had Kyrie Irving listed at #25 - right behind LaMarcus Aldridge, Draymond Green, Kevin Love and Gordon Hayward.

The most insulting part is when asked about the ranking, Chuck said Irving wasn't even originally on the list.

Scottie Pippen's former teammate Charles Barkley was on the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday and gave his 2 cents on Pippen saying he "was LeBron before LeBron."

“No. No, he wasn’t,” Barkley said. “Scottie was a terrific player. But Scottie wasn’t a guy who could get you 30 every night. He was a terrific defender, but he wasn’t gonna get you 10 rebounds. LeBron could get you 30 a night. He’s the best defender — Scottie was a great defender. But he wasn’t gonna get you a bunch of rebounds every night. So the answer to that question is no.”

I'm not saying any leftover beef had anything to do with Barkley's comments, but just in case you weren't familiar with the history between Barkley and Pippen, they aren't too fond of each other.

BARKLEY VS PIPPEN

In 1999, when Pippen left the Houston Big 3 Fail to go to the Portland Blazers, the 6 x NBA champ said he wanted to get away from Barkley's "selfish" and "sorry fat butt." He also said he should have listened to Michael Jordan who supposedly said Barkley will never win a championship because he doesn't show any dedication.

Barkley being Barkley had a funny response to the media when asked about Pippen's comments and him saying he would never apologize to Barkley.

"As you know, I always carry a gun with me," joked Barkley. "So there's a chance. If I get arrested for murder then you know he didn't apologize."

Barkley also said Jordan called him and told him he never said what Pippen said he did.

Wow. And to think this was Scottie and Charles a year earlier.

And this was 5 year earlier.

But as we all know, Pippen got the last laugh that year.

"I don't care if I get fined," Barkley said before his fine was announced for getting into a fight with Bad Boy Bill Laimbeer in 1990. "I make $3 million. What's a couple of thousand dollars?"

Well, that couple of thousand turned into an NBA record $20,000 fine which also came with a one-game suspension. Laimbeer received the same punishment as the league handed out a league record $162,500 in penalties for the original "Malice at the Palace" that took place 14 years before Ron Artest and Ben Wallace started the infamous Pacers/Pistons brawl.

So who started this fight between the 76ers and Pistons? Bill Laimbeer of course. Just minutes after Isaiah Thomas was ejected for throwing a punch at an amused Rick Mahorn, Bill Laimbeer shoved a ball into the face of his former teammate after Mahorn made an and-1 dunk on Dennis Rodman with 15 seconds left in the game. Barkley, who has been ejected a league-high 5 times and was second to only Mahorn in technicals, came over and threw some punches at Laimbeer's face. Then it was chaos as the benches cleared.

"Barkley hit me first," said Laimbeer. "It has been building for the whole season. My intent wasn't to start anything. When it happens, you don't think, you just react. It happens in sports . . . I think they have big mouths and they have a bigger media market, and they have to pump themselves up. I don't think they can play with us."

As expected, the always amusing Barkley was full of great quotes after the game.

"I won two titles tonight," Barkley said. "I won the division title with my teammates, and I retained my undisputed heavyweight championship of the world."

According to Barkley, he almost got into another fight after his ejection.

"When I tried to leave, a fan punched me, and I spit in his face. I was just trying to leave. It was ridiculous."

Almost as ridiculous as Laimbeer telling him, "I'm going to get you next time."

"I'm shaking," said a laughing Barkley. "I'm really upset. I'm really scared. I guess I'd better go home and lock my door."

THE FINES

When it was all said and done, these were the fines for each player.

• Bill Laimbeer: $20k, 1 game suspension
• Charles Barkley: $20k, 1 game suspension
• Scott Hastings: $10k, 1 game suspension
• 10 players: $500 for coming off the bench
• Each Team: $50k for failing to control their players
• Isiah Thomas: $7,500

Although the fine was heavier than he expected, Barkley didn't care about missing the season finale against the Celtics.

"I'll be sitting there in a thousand-dollar suit."

A year later the two reunited and had a rematch in the comedy 'Hot Shots.'

Here's a classic Charles Barkley moment from 1995. After a foul was committed by either Dikembe Mutombo or Antonio McDyess, Barkley goes into comic mode when the refs call it on Reggie Williams.

"We don't all look alike, Joe!"

The routine even put a smile on the face of Antonio McDyess, who put up 17 and 16.  Mutombo would foul out later in the game but the Nuggets still won despite 29 points and 9 rebounds from Charles Barkley...who also fouled out late in the triple OT game. Two other players would also fouled out as a total of 54 fouls were called in this one.

Denver's Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf was the star of the game with 30 points, 20 assists and 8 rebounds.

As for the not looking a like thing. I wish Steve Smith would have yelled that when he was on CNN earlier in the week and they called him Stephen A. Smith.

Flashback to 1996 before Michael Jordan had a gut and Charles Barkley was as fat as a sumo wrestler in training. Nike, looking to take over the world, sent over many of their top endorsers, including Jordan, Barkley, Jason Kidd, Michael Finley and Damon Stoudamire to Japan to participate in the first Nike "Hoop Heroes" event.

Tickets to the televised event sold out in 20 minutes and although I'm sure the fans in Japan were excited to see Jordan and some of the best players in the world play a game of 3-on-3 with Sumo wrestlers, the game was pretty boring and would be a waste of time if not for the bizareness of the whole thing.

Flashback to almost exactly 1 year ago to September of 2013 and Adidas put on a much cooler event called "1 against 100" featuring Chicago's Derrick Rose taking on Sumo wrestlers, ninjas, dragons, Asian school girls, Asian children and just a bunch of Asians.

Michael Jordan:

Jordan's "we didn't learn from them, they learned from us" comment isn't really a valid argument and really means nothing besides a cop-out. Also it's safe to say that at least 8 of the guys will eventually go down as Hall of Fame players.

Scottie Pippen:

Scottie keeping it respectable, not much to say.

Charles Barkley:

"Oh yeah, that's no disrespect," Barkley said. "I ain't got to badmouth them. But like I said, their point guards weren't going to beat us. That's a no-brainer. "

Barkley also brushed aside Bryant's comments about the Dream Team's age.

"I just started laughing," Barkley said. "How old is Kobe Bryant? He's 34? And he's calling us old? At the time, we were only like 28, 29. Michael Jordan and me were the same age. We were both 29. ...

"Other than Kobe, LeBron (James) and Kevin Durant, I don't think anybody else on that team makes our team."

First of all Barkley is crazy to say that the point guards on the current team weren't going to beat them. After our 3 spot, the point guard position is where we would give them the most trouble. Could you imagine John Stockton and a retired Magic Johnson trying to keep up with CP3, Westbrook and Deron?
