]]>Curie came out fast on their home court and led Orr at the half by 14. Senior guard Elijah Joiner (Tulsa) scored 15 in the first half and finished with 18 to lead all scorers.
Allante Pickens (17 points) hit the game tying and game winning free throws with 10 seconds left in regulation to lift the Condors. Terry TJ Smith added 15 for Curie. Former Curie star and current pro Cliff Alexander was in the gym to support his former high school.
Orr mounted a furious comeback, but fell short at the buzzer, losing 62-61.
By winning, the Curie Condors advance to play Morgan Park in the semifinals at Chicago State on Friday night.
Brian Hernandez led the Spartans with 17 points, including five 3-pointers and Orr junior Dannie Smith scored 16 points. His 3-point attempt at the buzzer narrowly missed.
The best dunks of the game came from Orr's Raekwon Drake who finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Spartans’ Tyron Mosley had 12 points and six rebounds.
Ballislife will continue following Curie in their quest for a CIty Title.

]]>Widely considered one of the top high school players in the nation, Cliff is a dominant FORCE around the basket. He finishes with authority and is the hardest worker on the court at all times. He is also a supportive teammate.
Cliff averaged approximately 20 ppg, 14 rebounds, 5 blocks (according to Curie coach).
Playing a national schedule for the first time in school history and winning Chicago’s Red Central title, the Curie Condors finished 19-8. They ultimately fell to Chicago city champs Whitney Young in a heated State Sectional game 62-58 with Alexander outscoring 6’11 Jahlil Okafor 14-13.
After watching the highlights, it should come as little surprise Cliff Alexander’s top 10 college choices include Kansas, Michigan State, Kentucky, Louisville, Illinois, DePaul, Indiana, Memphis, Baylor and Arizona.

]]>In perhaps the biggest game in Chicago Curie High School history, they faced the nation's top player in the Class of 2014, 6'11 Jahlil Okafor and his loaded #1 Whitney Young HS team with their seasons on the line. But 6'9 Cliff Alexander and his Curie Condor teammates were ready for battle.
Jahlil Okafor and Cliff Alexander took turns thrilling the crowd at Argo HS (Summit, IL), but it was Okafor who won as #1 Whitney Young (27-3) came-from-behind 62-58 vs #9 Curie (19-8) in the Class 4A sectional semifinal.
Okafor finished with 13 points, three blocks and three rebounds.
Alexander scored 14, three blocks, and grabbed eight rebounds.
While the bigs battled, elite (top 60) juniors L.J. Peak (23 points) and Paul White (11 points) helped supply the offensive support Young needed.

]]>Each December, huge crowds of high school hoops fans flock to this small midwestern town (pop. 12,000 ) where HS basketball legends are made.
While the best performer of the tournament was Cliff Alexander (Chicago Curie 2014), the most memorable play (perhaps in Pontiac history according to some locals), was this play by Joliet West (Joliet, IL) 6'2 senior guard Morris Dunnigan.
Down 14 at the half, Dunnigan tied the game going coast to coast and dunking over 6-9 Curie star center Cliff Alexander. Scoring 15 in the 3rd quarter, Dunnigan finished with 25 points.
Curie went on to win the game, finishing 3rd in the Tourney (after narrow loss to Chicago Simeon in semis).

He brought one down in practice last fall at Curie HS (Chicago) where he is a sophomore. This time his dunk shattered the backboard in the final game of the night (after the crowds had left) at The Fieldhouse during the Chicago Hoops Nike Spring Shootout in Merrillville, IN.
Cliff Alexander plays for Team D Rose (Chicago, IL). Just the previous night, coaches John Calipari (Kentucky), Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Buzz Williams (Marquette), Tom Crean (Indiana), and John Beilein (Michigan) were in the gym to watch Cliff and his D Rose teammates.
After medical staff checked-out Cliff and cleared him to play, the game resumed on another court with Cliff leading Team D Rose to another victory.

Big Cliff Alexander’s impact reached beyond his stat line, and his baseline spin move around the bigger Okafor for a 3-point play was a game-changer.
Tied after 3 quarters, Curie’s senior guards #5 6'3 Devin Foster and #3 5'10 Malcolm Hill-Bey, and #1 5'8 Jibreel Jackson dominated Whitney Young’s young guards at both ends in the final quarter, even blocking and picking Okafor’s pocket multiple times to cement the victory.
Jahlil Okafor finished with 9pts, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks with his sophomore teammate 6’8 Paul White scoring 12pts, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks in a point-forward role.
There were college coaches in the gym from North Carolina, Arizona, Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida State, Iowa, Ohio State, Illinois State, Indiana State, UIC, Colorado State, Univ of Chicago, and South Florida, among others.
