Check out highlights from David Caraher, a 6'6" freshman forward from North Carolina playing at Houston Baptist University. Caraher is currently leading all freshman in the Southland conference in PPG. The NC native played his last two seasons at Wesleyan Christian Academy along side other D1 commits such as Jalen Johnson, Kwe Parker, Ian Steere, Aaron Wiggins, and Jaylen Hoard. That transition along with playing AAU with Team Charlotte help put the freshman ahead of the learning curve when it came to his transition to college ball. He's currently second on the team with 14.7 PPG and 6.6 RPG. Look for the freshman to continue his dominance into conference play for the Huskies!

There have been few battles on the court this basketball season that measure up to what we've seen in the 336 (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and other surrounding cities). When it came to competitive edge, great crowds and frantic student sections 3 schools immediately came to mind - High Point Christian Academy (HPCA); Wesleyan Christian Academy; and Greensboro Day School (GDS). Having lived up to the hype is only the tip of the iceberg whenever either of the schools battled one another.

High Point Christian -

The anticipation of senior Power Forward transfer Edrice “BAM” Adebayo was beyond measure and he’s proved to be worth every bit of the hype. The 6’10, #4 nationally ranked (ESPN), McDonald’s All-American, Jordan Brand Classic invitee, UK commit made sure to live up to his nickname as he battled against Wesleyan and GDS. Using his colossal frame BAM dominated in and around the paint, electrifying the crowd with monstrous dunks, rebounds and blocked shots. Along side BAM is the 5’9 speedster, Sr. Point Guard, Michal Seals who helped lead the charge for HPCA. Although small in stature, he used his quickness and wit to take advantage of the opportunities that his front court presented. There was no point in time during the “336” match-ups that Seals wasn’t present, making the right plays and doing what it takes to win. In addition, transfer Sr. Point Guard, Ty Graves was an offensive nightmare, especially since he added some muscle to his frame. The Boston College commit uses his lightening quickness and marksmen shooting to keep the defense in a state of confusion. With his ability to knock down shots from the outside he was able to take advantage of getting to the basket to convert easy 2 pointers. Then there’s the 6’5 Jr. Jalen Seegars. Arguably one of the most effective Wings in the state, because of his ability to affect the game in more ways than one. Although he may appear unorthodox, Seegars caused all kind of problems for the opposition as he used his college ready frame to finish at the basket and snatch boards.

Wesleyan Christian -

Over the years, Sr. Guard Kwe Parker has become synonymous with dunking. However, if you’ve been paying any attention to his senior campaign, you’ll notice that he’s transformed into more than just a highlight reel. The Univ. of Tennessee commit has evolved his game on both ends of the floor. In the 336 battles instead of just dunking he electrified the crowd with his defense - shutting down the passing lanes, run down & help side shot blocking, and air tight coverage on the ball. Parker also showed that he is more consistent with knocking down shots inside the perimeter - and yes, he still caught a lob or 2. His back-court running mate, Wake Forest Univ. commit, 6’0 PG Brandon Childress is always a threat. He’s definitely the floor general for his team and always seems to know the right time to strike. A lights out shooter, with handle, he caused all types of problems as the opposition didn’t know whether he was going to shoot it or beat them off the dribble and get to the basket. He also gets the crowd hyped with the level of energy and level of emotion that he plays with. Then there’s the recent addition of Jr., David Caraher. The 6’6 Small Forward is as smooth as they come. Caraher has a high arching silky jump shot, along with exceptional footwork that makes up for his lack of speed. Even going head up against BAM, there weren’t many answers on how to guard him.

Greensboro Day School -

Greensboro Day has become some what of powerhouse in North Carolina over the last few years. While they are well coached, they always keep kids on the team that just know how to play the game and leave it all on the court. One of those kids being Soph. William Dillard. The 6’1 Point Guard while only in his second year of high school plays like a seasoned veteran. Going up against WCA & HPCA, the main things that remained constant were his poise and leadership. His ability to knock down shots and ability to finish at the rim presented issues for anyone guarding him. Then there’s the 6’6 Jr. Small Forward, J.P. Moorman. With the buzz he created this past summer, it’s no surprise that he’s helped lead his school to victory against both of these top schools. At his size, he’s a more than able ball handler, crafty and a lights out shooter. Moorman also has a good basketball IQ so it’s not hard for him to find his way to the basket for an easy dunk to get his team going!

High Point is the place to be this hoops season as its home to two of the top teams in the country. Wesleyan Christian Academy has been a long stronghold in the NCISAA but this year High Point Christian is looking to change that. With the additions of Bam Adebayo, Ty Graves (BC commit), Jalen Seegars, and Michael Huiett Jr.; the Cougars have a roster that'll compete with any team in the nation. The Trojans will be led by Wake Forest commit Brandon Childress and recent Vols commit Jalen Johnson. Pair them with the high-flying Kwe Parker and sharp shooting David Caraher and they've got the roster to make another title appearance. Here's a preview of their teams from preseason open gym runs!
