Check out highlights from last night's game between Kansas commit Devon Dotson and UNC commit Rechon "Leaky" Black. This game was the most anticipated matchup of the weekend from the Charlotte Hoops Challenge as both teams represented the "Best" of Private v Public schools in the Queen City. Cox Mill won the game after a back and forth battle 64-59. Jayhawks commit Devon Dotson finished the game with 13 points and 7 rebounds while Top 60 junior Wendell Moore led Cox Mill with 27 points and 16 rebounds.

Check out highlights from Providence Day guard Devon Dotson, who recently committed to Kansas University for next season. He's a 6'2" guard who ran with Team Charlotte under the tutelage of former UNC guard Jeff McGinnis. Dotson is a true point guard who gets his team involved. He's capable of finishing through contact, is a pesky defender, and an improving three point shot. He's currently ranked 25th in the 247 Composite ranking and the number 2 senior in the #HoopState. I don't know how the in-state schools let another one slip but Dotson is sure to make them regret that decision. Stay tuned for more highlights for the future Jayhawk!

Brad & Scott are out at the Under Armour Finals in the ATL. If you ask around the gym on who's one of the toughest guys to play against, you'll hear Devon Dotson. The kid is just a flat out dog on the court, he's not backing down from anyone or any situation. And he's going to let you know about it too. Well here he matched up against that cool cat Jahvon Quinerly and the defender UA Champs SportsU. But Team Charlotte had their number this night winning 55-48. Box Scores haven't been release yet, we'll update as we get them.

Devon Dotson is making a name as a truly ELITE high school floor general on a national level.
When Earl Watson Elite 17U and Team Charlotte 17U (featuring the 2 guards) matched up at UAA Session 2 in Indy, the coaches flocked to their court.
Earl Watson Elite was able to withstand Team Charlotte’s comeback attempt and came away with a victory, 76-65.
Cassius Stanley had a big game, with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal in 24 minutes. You'll notice the variety of ways he scored as well as his guard skills and play-making ablities.

4-star 6'2 PG Devon Dotson finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals in 26 minutes.

This season he led PDS to a 23-11 season and a semi-final appearance in the NCISAA 3A Championships. Blake Harris & Coby White Poster Dunks Headline Phenom National Top Plays! #HoopState Season Kickoff!

Basketball started officially in the #HoopState this week as the Phenom National Showcase commenced at Greensboro Day School. The kickoff event hosted some of the top teams in the state along with some powerhouse names from around the region. Headlining the event was no. 1 Oak Hill led by seniors Tyshon Alexader, Devontae Shuler, and Billy Preston. Word of God, Greensboro, Cannon School, Providence Day, and Greenfield were a few of the schools representing North Carolina. The weekend was full of top plays whether they were poster dunks, handles, or even a game-winning basket. Check out what all the excitement was about this weekend as we count down the top plays from the Phenom National Showcase hosted by Rick Lewis and Jamie Shaw of the Phenom Hoop Report.

Battle for #HoopState Supremacy: NCISAA 3A State Championships

With the amount of talented teams in the #HoopState, it was no surprise that the gym was a madhouse during every night of the NCISAA 3A playoffs! There were so many great match-ups throughout the entire playoffs such as, (host school) Ravenscroft vs. Wesleyan Christian Academy. Another memorable match-up was High Point Christian against Greensboro Day School as they played for the 3rd time this season with both teams earning a win on a the opponents home court.

With all of the talented high major players, the University of Tennessee seemed to have hit the jackpot, as they had 4 committed players - Providence Day’s PF, Grant Williams; Wesleyan Christian’s G, Kwe Parker and SF, Jalen Johnson; and Christ School’s PF, John Fulkerson - in the NCISAA 3A playoffs. The intensity of the matchups showcased some of the reasons Tennessee heavily recruits in the HoopState. Of the four players, Power Foward’s Fulkerson and Williams definitely left their mark. Playing against High Point Christian, the 6’8 Fulkerson was able to catch a nasty left hand dunk over a defender and Williams helped lead his team to win the State Championship.

Michael Okauru, the 6'4 Point Guard of the host school, Ravenscroft (Raleigh, NC) also left his mark as he dominated for his team throughout the playoffs until coming up short against Providence Day. He played with heart and ultimately did not get to take home the champion title, but showed a laundry list of ways he would be a phenomenal addition to a high major D1 team. Up and comer 6'1 Point Guard, Devon Dodson of Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC) showed flashes of why he holds offers from UNC and Florida just to name a few. He has a high basketball IQ, reads the court and makes good decisions, along with speed and leadership. Another Point Guard that captured the crowd was High Point Christian's (High Point, NC) 5'9 Michal Seals. Although undersized, he possesses the heart and fearlessness that helped his team get to the 3A championship.

Although Greensboro Day School came up short in an exciting 1 point loss against High Point Christian, 2017 Forward JP Moorman and 2018 Guard William Dillard left it all on the court. Both are high quality players that always seem to make the right decisions on the court. Not forgetting 2018 6’5 W John Newman, who had one of the most exciting plays of the playoffs, a 2 handed dunk over a High Point Christian defender.

For the Providence Day / High Point Christian Academy championship game the crowd was arguably the largest it’s been since John Wall’s Word of God team played against Ryan Kelly’s Ravenscroft team. There was barely standing room as people piled in to see the rematch between Kentucky commit Edrice “BAM” Adebayo and Tennessee commit PF, Grant Williams, along with budding star PG, Devon Dotson. Ultimately, Providence Day School came away with the championship in a convincing victory. It was border line deafening in the gym as both school’s student sections and fans .were cheering on their respective teams. The crowd went absolutely berserk when Bam dunked on Williams for the And 1, in hopes that it would spark a comeback which never came to fruition for High Point Christian.

All in all it was a fast paced, high energy event that anyone could appreciate, regardless of if your team was winning or losing. Looking forward to seeing more from the NCISAA in 2017.

The 2015 Chick-Fil-A Classic hosted some of the most action packed games in the event's recent history. Players like Miles Bridges, Tyshon Alexander, Seventh Woods, Jalek Felton, Wendell Carter and many more put on an absolute show! Oak Hill took home the National Bracket Championship while local Hammond School brought home the American Bracket trophy. Check out what had the sell-out crowds on their feet down in Columbia, South Carolina!
