Without any national all-star games played this year because of COVID-19, we thought this was a perfect time to look back at all the best individual performances over the past 50 plus years. Below are the individual records for all the established and long-running national all-star games. In order of creation they are: Roundball Classic (1965-2007), Kentucky Derby Festival Classic (1973-2017), Capital Classic (1974-current), McDonald’s All-American Game (1978-current), Jordan Brand Classic (2005-current) and Ballislife All-American Game (2011-current).

Two nights after the Round Ball Classic, Murphy scored 62 points in the title game of the seventh annual Allentown Classic (also called the B’nai B’rith Schoolboy Classic), which pitted all-star teams from various regions along the Eastern seaboard. Murphy made 24-of-45 field goals and 14-of-16 free throws for New England in a 109-102 loss Eastern Pennsylvania. He scored 98 points in two games at the event (36 the day after the Roundball) that was held to raise funds for Cancer research.

**In 1979 and 1980, the Derby Festival Classic played two games, one at Freedom Hall in Louisville and the next night at Rupp Arena in Lexington. Earl Jones, a three-time high school All-American, blocked six shots in each game.

The Ballislife All-American Game presented by Eastbay was created in 2011 with the goal of bringing a credible national All-American game to the West Coast. It has grown to become one of the three most prestigious senior all-star games nationally. The 2019 edition of the Ballislife All-American Game will take place Saturday, May 4 at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center in Long Beach, Calif.

The game time and rosters for the 2019 game will be released at a later date. The game will be streamed online on Facebook Live, Youtube.com, and Twitter.com. A replay broadcast of the game will air on Spectrum SportsNet.

In 2018, it was only fitting the largest viewing audience in the history of the event witnessed its first overtime game, as Team Future defeated Team Elite, 146-143. Team Future overcame a 10-point, fourth quarter deficit to force overtime and earn the win in a game that has been viewed online by over 3 million fans.

Naz Reid (LSU) of Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.) netted a team-high 23 points for Team Future. Emmitt Williams finished with game-highs of 31 points and 12 rebounds for Team Elite. Williams was one of three LSU recruits to participate in the game. The third player joining the Bayou Bengals in 2018-19, guard Ja’Vonte Smart of Scotlandville Magnet (Baton Rouge, La.), netted 21 points for Team Elite.

Moses Brown (UCLA) of Archbishop Malloy (Queens, N.Y.) set the pace for Team Future, scoring 16 of his 22 points in the second half. Williams and Brown were named 2018 Ballislife All-American Game co-MVPs.

Past game MVPs include NBA players Collin Sexton (2017), Lonzo Ball (2016), Thon Maker (2015), Stanley Johnson (2014), Jordan Bell (2013) and MLB pitcher Amir Garrett (2011).

Norwalk, Calif. – For the first time in the eight-year history of the Ballislife All-American Game presented by Eastbay, the game went into overtime, with Team Future defeating Team Elite, 146-143, before a capacity crowd at Cerritos College (Calif.). The winning team (which wore White jerseys) overcame its 10-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter to eventually force overtime and earn the win.

The catalyst for Team Future down the stretch was 7-foot, UCLA-bound center Moses Brown, who scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half. His offensive rebound putbacks were huge in the fourth period and he also set an all-time Ballislife All-American Game record with four blocked shots, including a critical defensive play in overtime. Brown, the CHSAA MVP while playing for Archbishop Malloy (Queens, N.Y.), also had nine rebounds for Team Future.

Brown was named the game's co-MVP along with LSU-bound forward Emmitt Williams of Team Elite, which wore Black uniforms. Williams, had an assortment of alley-oop and putback dunks to finish with game-highs of 31 points and 12 rebounds. Williams, who led Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.) to a final No. 8 FAB 50 ranking, was one of three LSU recruits to participate in the game, including teammate Naz Reid of Roselle Catholic (Roselle, N.J.), who netted a team-high 23 points for the Black Team. The third player who will join the Bayou Bengals this fall is guard Ja'Vonte Smart of Scotlandville Magnet (Baton Rouge, La.). Smart scored 21 points for Team Elite.

After Team Future made its comeback, it was basically a one possession game for the last six minutes of regulation and the overtime. In overtime, Smart's lay-up tied the game at 143-143 with 25 seconds remaining. With 17 seconds remaining, shooting guard Luther Muhammad of Hudson Catholic (N.J.) was fouled in the act of shooting and made one of two free throws. That free throw, turned out to be the winning point, as Muhammad missed the second one only to see the ball called out of bounds on Team Elite in the scramble near the sidelines. Muhammad, who finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds (team-high) and five assists, then canned two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to account for the final points.

Team Elite had one last possession to go for the tie, but a long 3-pointer by point guard James Akinjo of Salesian (Richmond, Calif.) rimmed out and a last-ditch 3-point attempt by Smart was off the mark.

Akinjo, who finished with 11 points, tied a game record with four steals and his defense and intensity set the tone for a close game that featured a couple of streetball-type "battles" while still maintaining its integrity. Akonjo, headed for Georgetown, battled with Brandon Williams (4 points) of Crespi (Encino, Calif.). Smart also had a spirited battle with Ohio St.-bound Duane Washington Jr. (15 points) of Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.).

Akonjo's future college teammate, Mac McClung, won the BILAAG Slam Dunk Contest presented by Eastbay. McClung defeated Oregon-bound Miles Norris of Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) in the final after recording a score of 43 on his first dunk of the contest. The 3-point contest was captured by West Virginia-bound Jordan McCabe of Kaukauna (Wis.), who ignited the crowd with his long range marksmanship. In between the dunk contest and 3-point shootout, Brandon Williams made his college choice public. Williams, who was overcome with a bit of emotion while thanking his parents, will attend the University of Arizona.

Back in 2003, LeBron James scored a Jordan Brand Classic record 34 points on 13-of-30 shooting in front of the man himself. The young King also grabbed 12 boards and dished out 6 assists in a loss to a team with Chris Paul (18 PTS & 5 ASTS) and Shannon Brown (27 PTS & 8 ASTS).

The previous scoring record was held by Carmelo Anthony (27 PTS) a year earlier in the inaugural game. Since then, Allonzo Trier (28), Thad Young (28), Anthony Davis (29) and Jahlil Oakafor (29) have all passed Melo but failed to catch LeBron.

On Saturday, LSU commit Emmitt Williams not only broke LeBron's 15-year-old record, he destroyed it by scoring 44 points on 22-of-23 shooting in a win for his Home team.

“I didn’t get to play in McDonald’s, so I’m working my ass off to show I should have been there,” Williams said to USA Today. “Everyone knows I went through that situation, that I didn’t do it and they sat on me and thought I was going to lay down.”

The "situation" he's referring to was a sexual assault charge that was dropped a couple of months after the allegations.

Here's his highlights from this past weekend followed by a few videos we made with the high-flying future LSU star.
