]]>This is unacceptable. ?I don't care what gender they are, how old they are or where they are from. There's no excuse for this minute of confusion. With that said, I'm going to semi-excuse the player from Slovakia because I've seen plenty of players from high school to the pros score or attempt to score on their own basket. ?What I've never seen is a player score on their own basket and then the other team inbound the ball and go down the court, as a team, and try to score on their own basket.
So this is what happened at the Under-17 Women's FIBA World Championships (yes Championships). ?Mexico was shooting 2 free throws and clanked them both. ?A player on the opposing team grabbed the miss and passed it to one of her teammates (who was standing behind the free throw shooter the whole time) who got real excited when she found herself wide open for a layup. She makes the layup...for the other team although the scorekeepers didn't give it to Mexico eventhough they needed every point they could get since they were down by 18.
What was supposed to happen next was a bunch of the girls on the Mexican team were supposed to smile about it and then get back on D but instead they inbounded the ball and passed the ball around a couple of times as they dribbled down the court and prepared to score...on their own basket!
Slovak Republic would end up winning 54-36.
I guess it could have been worse - like scoring the game winning shot for the opposing team.

]]>I've seen plenty of people shoot the ball and the ball ended up getting stuck in between the rim and the backboard but this is just the 2nd time I've seen it happen from a dunk attempt. The first time came courtesy of Josh Powell in the CBA.
Unfortunately for most of us that have had our shot get stuck, we didn't have Powell or DeAndre Jordan's height and hops to easily get the ball down. We relied on throwing other balls, finding sticks or using our rim touching hops to tap the ball out.
These kids could have used DJ.

]]>If you thought the way Rochelle beat MT Vernon for the NY Section 1 Class championship game was dramatic, with it's near impossible ending, where a kid only had to hold onto the ball after a bad inbound play to seal the win, let me introduce Hugo guard Trey Johnson.
Trey's team was up 37-36 against Millwood high with 3.7 seconds left. ?His team had possession and only needed to inbound the ball to seal the win. They made a great inbound pass, Trey caught it and rather than dribble off into the sunset, he had to play Kobe and make a shot at the buzzer. ?He shot and he scored and the crowd went insane after Trey's buzzer beater. ?Here's the problem, Tre scored for the wrong team!
"When I saw the kid going that way, I was like, 'No, he's not. No, he's not ... Oh, yes he is,'" Millwood assistant coach David Samilton?told The Oklahoman. "I couldn't believe it."
Neither can we.
