]]>If you are a fan of the Celtics or just a fan of the NBA version of Captain America with perfect hair, then this clip of Gordon Hayward dunking on some unlucky guy should make you feel good.
The two-hand dunk also reminds of me of his dunk on Giannis the Greek Freak (twice) during a Jazz and Bucks game in 2017. He also dunked on Thon Maker in this game, which means he unofficially became the first white guy in NBA history to dunk on a pair of 7 footers in the same gameā¦and without messing up his hair. ESPN, how about that for a stupid stat?
Hayward has had his share of poster dunks on other NBA players too, here's a Top 10 compilation featuring Julius Randle, John Wall, Paul George and lots of white-on-white crime.
My favorite dunk from the countdown was the poster on PG13 from Hayward's terrible hair days. I love how he smiles at the end as if he knew he just had a "Momma, I made it!" moment.

]]>This is proof the NBA is a brotherhood. Within minutes after Gordon Hayward broke his left ankle five minutes into his Celtics debut, over 40 NBA players took to Twitter to share their support and prayers for him. By the end of the game, it seemed like half the league had posted a message.
The horrific-looking accident happened when Hayward and LeBron James made contact while Hayward was trying to catch an alley-oop pass. Hayward landed on his leg, causing it to snap sideways.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to Gordon's family. Hope for a speedy recovery, a healthy recovery," James said after the game. "Those are the injuries that you never see coming, you never want to happen, no matter who it is, no matter what the stature, no matter how much competitive nature that you have. It's just very unfortunate."

]]>(UPDATE: Hayward is taking his talents and hair products to Boston)
Heard any good trade rumors about Gordon Hayward lately? All signs are pointing to the 6'8", 226-pound All-Star ending up in Boston. If he does end up reuniting with Brad Stevens, he will probably have the first season of his career where he doesn't increase his scoring average -- he went from 5.4 as a rookie to 11.8 in his second season to 21.9 last season -- but he, his skills and perfect hair -- which has equally improved over his first seven seasons -- will probably finally get the attention it deserves.
For today's "Morning Motivation" mix, we are going to look at the workouts and training of the in-demand "missing piece" starting when he was 20 pounds lighter with a Shaggy from Scooby Doo haircut and the inability to bench press 185 pounds more than three times.
"In 2010 he needed to get bigger and stronger," Said trainer Greg Moore. "I told him, 'It's a marathon not a sprint. If you stay the course and the let the process take its course, it will happen in a natural fashion.' And it has. Every offseason has just been a stair step from the previous offseason.
"I train him to be a basketball player, not a bodybuilder. When I met him, he didn't like any of this. He just wanted to play basketball. My message to him on Day 1 was, 'I don't care if you ever like this. But at the end of the day you can appreciate what it can do for you on the court. You win. I win. We both win. And the end result has showed. He just got paid."

This past weekend, my 12-year old daughter's volleyball team remained winless after taking a fourth straight beatdown. While most of the kids were high-fiving each other and laughing, she stormed off the court saying, "I can't play with these nerds. They don't want to win and I cant' win with them. They need to stick with whatever games nerds play." I replied, "Chill out Chris Paul!" When my wife asked me why I called her the name of the guy she sees in State Farm commercials, I said, "Chris Paul is a competitive crybaby. He's one of the best players in the league (ever) but has a tendency to get too emotional and isn't afraid to show his frustration with opponents and teammates."
In the final minutes of the Clippers GM5 loss to the Jazz, Paul was called for a personal foul and technical for pushing Gordon Hayward in the back after a couple of seconds of wrestling for a loose ball the way my kids wrestle for candy bars. Hayward was also given a tech because...I don't know why. I guess it's like when I punish both of my kids for something just because I don't want to hear who really started it.
If losing Game 5 wasn't frustrating enough, he had to deal with some real stupid questions after the game. As expected, Paul roasted the reporter the way my daughter's coach roasted her for acting so childish.

]]>The dunk by Air Gordon Hayward vs the Lakers last night wasn't as nice as his dunk and scream at Joel Freeland last week but the rim hang gave him some style points. Not that the Jazz needed any more points against the Lakers who they beat by 33.
Hayward finished the game with a nice roto league stat line of 16 (real) points, 4 assists, 4 steals, 2 blocks and a 3 -pointer.

]]>Air Gordon Hayward has always been one of those guys that you don't think of as having hops but will surprise you with a poster dunk or LeBron like chasedown block. So after watching him posterize and yell and Joel Freeland last night, I figured out why.
My suggestion is for him to improve his post dunk celebrations and studying Shawn Kemp and this Rockets video is a great place to start. You get the classic Kemp scream, the finger pointing and the crotch grab.
Just take a look at this nice poster dunk and rim swing by Hayward against the Rockets.
Now watch the Reign Man. See the difference in style?
Let's see if Gordon's teammate Alec Burks did any better with his and-1 dunk.
Nevermind.
