With state high school association sanctioned programs wrapping up their regular seasons, it’s that time for a number of prep schools as well. The Grind Session held its final regular season event of the 2023-24 campaign at Napa Valley College, titled “The Crush In The Valley 2”, brought teams from a handful of states and Canada to wine country. Host school Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) ran the table, going 3-0 on the weekend and remaining undefeated within Grind Session Power Conference play at 16-0. The crew presently sit at No. 8 in the latest FAB 50 National Rankings.

Here are a few of the standouts from the Crush In The Valley II:

Tyran Stokes, 6’7, SF/PF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2026
Considered by many to be the top sophomore in the nation, Tyran Stokes did everything in his power to live up to his lofty reputation and more throughout Prolific Prep’s undefeated weekend in Napa. Stokes was a more confident 3-point shooter than the last time we seen him, killed defenders with his ridiculously explosive first step, and was more engaged as an on ball defender than our last evaluation. The Louisville native leads The Grind Session in efficiency and has done everything in his power to hold on to that No. 1 spot in the class of 2026.

Jayden Williams, 6’9, C, Bella Vista Prep (AZ), 2024
Sometimes there are players that are hidden in plain sight, and Jayden Williams is definitely one of those guys. Williams is a much more confident scorer with his back to the basket, is great playing out of the dunker as a lob threat, and offers so much on defense containing perimeter/as a shot blocker. An incredibly heralded player early in his career, Williams made the move to Overtime Elite and it was almost as if people forgot about how special of a prospect he was. There aren’t many better available big men in the late signing period than Jayden Williams.

A.J. Dybantsa, 6’8, SF, Prolific Prep (CA), 2025
The No. 1 player in the class of 2025 didn’t force the issue at all over the weekend for Prolific Prep, letting his offense come to him within the flow of the game and showing the immense versatility that he offers as a new age forward. Able to play inside and out, Dybansta was an outstanding offensive rebounder, ran the floor exceptionally well, and impacted the game on both ends with his combination of length and athleticism. The pride of Brockton, Mass., already has a NIL deal with Nike and is sitting at fourth in The Grind Session Power Conference in scoring.

Aliou Dioum, 6’10, PF, Accelerated Prep (CO), 2026
It has been a coming out party of sorts in The Grind Session season for Aliou Dioum, Colorado’s top prospect in the class of 2026. The Senegalese big man finished above the rim in traffic, showed a super soft touch out to the 3-point line, and was outstanding as a rim protector. Dioum’s 27-point, 19-rebound, 5-block performance emphasized why Georgia and Georgia Tech put scholarships on the table for him so early in the process.

Z.Z. Clark, 6’3, PG/SG, DNA Prep (CA), 2024
There have been a number of people who forgot about Z.Z. Clark, but the former Illinois commit certainly reminded everyone that he’s one of the better scoring combo guards still left on the west coast with his play at The Grind Session. Clark was outstanding in pick and roll play, was a threat to score anytime that he had the rock in his hands, and got it done from both backcourt spots equally well. The younger brother of Louisville point guard Skyy Clark played last season with Overtime Elite, but proved that he belongs in The Grind Session with his 36-point, 11-rebound, 4-assist performance against Bella Vista Prep.

Khaman Maker, 7’2, C, SFBA Trinity Prep (NV), 2024
The biggest player in the Grind Session made a big impact on the game, and that was Khaman Maker. The defensive minded big man from Sudan had double doubles in both of Trinity’s games over the weekend while adding four blocks in each outing. Maker isn’t one to force the issue offensively, but made a number of tough catches around the rim and finished over top of the defense. Naturally, the biggest impact that he made on the game was as a rim protector, as he leads the Grind Session in blocked shots per game (4.7 blocks per game) and made defenders think twice when attacking the rim.

Spending some time in Atlanta and before I head to Lakepoint for the Nike EYBL, I did catch quality talent at OTR’s ‘Who Wants The Smoke’ last weekend. I wrote about 11 but more than that impressed me. Let’s take a dive on what I saw.

Jayden Williams, 2024 6’9 Forward - Atlanta Celtics: Was impressed with his overall versatility. Game came easy for him at ‘Who Wants The Smoke.’ Wiry with a big-time wingspan and can handle it, finish around the rim and someone that can make an open perimeter shot. Defensively was doing a good job protecting the rim as well. Williams moves well, can score inside and out and is a 2024 big that could blow up this April Live Period.

Akai Fleming, 2025 6’4 Guard - Atlanta Celtics 16U: Fleming has a knack for scoring the ball and he can get hot quickly. Showed three level scoring but was impressed with his accuracy from 3-point land.

Zion Greene, 2025 6’3 CG - AOT Elite 16U: Greene was fun to watch. Explosive athlete that plays with a lot of power as well. Intercepted passing lanes like a defensive back, continued to put rim pressure when the ball was in his hands. One thing about Zion that makes him a tough cover is he’s a lefty shooter, but actually is a strong finisher and attacks with right hand. One to watch this spring and summer.

Cam Smith, 2025 6’6 Wing - AOT Elite 16U: Younger brother of OTE’s Tyler Smith. Cam is a lefty attacking wing that’s strong in transition as a finisher. Rebounds and ignites break, crashes offensive glass and has a nice shooting stroke off the catch from three. Can see where the upside is and with more polishing of his footwork, skill and balance, Smith could turn himself into a higher-end D1 basketball player.

Cannon Richards, 2024 6’7 SF - Game Elite 17U: I like Cannon’s game a lot. A big wing that can make shots from the outside off the catch and on the move. Active with movement off the ball allows himself to be in position to score.

Peyton Marshall, 2024 6’11 C - Game Elite 17U: Big fella is a load on the block. A wide body post with terrific footwork. Uses broad frame to carve out space inside and is a good finisher around the rim. Even with how big he is, he can mix it up with finesse and brute strength when he operates in the post. Can be scary the day he’s in great shape and could be a really good college player.

Jeremiah Wilkinson, 2024 6’ PG - Game Elite 17U: Lefty, scoring pg that packed a strong offensive punch for Game Elite. Accurate shooter from deep, adequate at getting to spots to score while also making solid reads when attacking.

Amir Taylor, 2025 6’8 PF - Game Elite 16U: Amir is a tough cover. Broad built, about 6’8 and is a formidable inside/out scoring threat. Good handle, nice footwork and is a capable shooter (still can grow as a shooter) from outside. Could throw it to him inside and generate a clean look for himself or for his teammates with passes.

Ian Smikle, 2024 6’7 PF - Georgia Stars 17U: A strong built forward that’s a load in the paint. Finishes through contact. Good rebounder, feel, collects missed shots out of his area and generates second chance opportunities for his squad. Protected the rim well as he gets off the floor fairly quick.

Caleb Wilson, 2025 6’10 Forward - Georgia Stars 16U: A lot to like with Caleb. With his height, he plays with motor and grabs rebounds and blocks shots. Offensively, there is a ton of upside. Shot looks clean and made some mid-range fade-aways. Best basketball is ahead of him.

Matthew Able, 2025 6’4 SG - Georgia Stars 15U: Son of Douglas Able, who played at Boston College and enjoyed a professional career. Matthew stood out early with his 3-point shooting. Was connecting triples off the dribble in transition as well as pull-up mid-rangers also. Has a good feel for the game and knows when he needs to be more assertive with the ball.
