Whether you love or hate him, there’s only one other player that can realistically be compared to Michael Jordan: Kobe Bryant. And that opinion is from Jordan himself.

Ever since Michael Jordan has retired, many have tried to find the hier to his throne. From Harold Miner to Jerry Stackhouse to Vince Carter even, many players have become pretenders to that throne.

There are and have been plenty of amazing athletes in the league, but nevertheless, no one has ever come close to what Kobe Bryant has done to deserve this comparison. All these years aping Jordan’s movements and skills has paid off, as Jordan himself acknowledges Bryant.

I am certain that someone out there reading this will have the nerve to even think about LeBron James at this point— perhaps a bandwagon fan for the most part. Many see LeBron James as a failure, when in reality he is one of the most talented athletes in the league right now. I will give him that much. But that’s really where it stops. Simple and plain, the reason why he is seen as such a fiasco is his inability to meet the examples set by Michael Jordan.

No doubt that Kobe Bryant does deserve this honorable recognition. But what I really would like to point out — which Kobe himself has pointed out before, is that even though he is being compared to the greatest to ever do it, and even if he does so happen to accomplish what Jordan has done in the MJ era, he was still the one to do it first. Which of course, makes Michael Jordan the greatest.

Having played with each other for 21-years, the Morris twins were separated at last during the 2011 NBA Draft as Markieff Morris was picked up by the Phoenix Suns at No. 13, one pick ahead of his brother Marcus Morris at No. 14 by the Houston Rockets.

Throughout the months after declaring for draft, Marcus, the 2011 Big 12 Player of the Year, had been projected to be picked before Markieff, the more understated of the two on-and-off the court.

Going into training camp, many said that Marcus could be in the starting lineup at the 3 in no time. However, that is no longer going to be the case.

The Houston Rockets have made the decision to send Morris to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League to allow him to play full time, giving Morris' to Patrick Patterson, Chandler Parsons, and Terrence Williams.

When asked about the move, Rockets GM Daryl Morey, explained why Marcus may not yet be 'league ready'.

"Our focus for Marcus is to work on his defense and his offense at the three."

It is apparent that the team is looking to have Marcus work on his small forward ability-- his likely future spot if he makes a comeback.

Side note to all-- The 'understated' twin, Markieff Morris, had 16 points & 9 assists against the Warriors Monday afternoon, helping his team defeat Golden State with a 102-91 victory.

The Los Angeles Lakers made a three-team trade with the Rockets and Hornets early Friday to possibly bring PG Chris Paul to LA, but was rejected by the NBA.

The three teams decided Saturday to meet again to renegotiate a new trade, hoping it would get approved by the NBA this time around. Surprisingly, the trade wasn't for Chris Paul or Dwight Howard, whom the Lakers have been attempting to acquire, as well.

The Lakers pulled out of the Paul trade on Saturday night, and instead, traded forward Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks, gaining an $8.9 trade exception that the Lakers could use which creates space for the big man-- Dwight Howard.

Howard, however, has reportedly asked to be traded to the New Jersey Nets. It will all come down to the Lakers beating a Nets offer which would include center Brook Lopez and multiple draft picks.

Odom, who is not pleased about being a part of the voided Paul trade did not show up to the first two days of training camp, and only showed up Saturday for a physical. "To me, I would think it's better to stay away," Odom told The LA Times in a telephone interview Friday. "You know, the energy and all. I don't know how it's going to go right now. It's a little weird."

The Mavericks, who lost their free-agent, Caron Butler to the Clippers, could easily restock their frontcourt with Odom.

But the questions we all want answers for are, could the Lakers really pull this off? With Lamar Odom now gone, what if the Lakers can't get Howard as planned? Are they digging themselves deep in trouble?
