The Cavs were 4-0 since Kevin Love returned from his hand injury. Then in the first quarter of the Cavs game against the Miami Heat, Love took an elbow to the face from Jordan Mickey, left the game and the Cavs ended up losing 79-98.

The following shot of Love's loose tooth (no Banana Republic ads for a while) is probably the best tooth shot we have had since his former childhood and Cavs teammate Isaiah Thomas had a tooth knocked out in last year's playoffs series against the Wizards.

But the award for most painful looking current shot of a tooth getting knocked out goes to Kris Dunn and his scary fall against the Warriors. He hit the floor so hard, he actually damaged the floor!

The award for most damage by a tooth goes to Wilson Chandler, who left a piece of his tooth in David Lee's elbow, causing an infected hole that actually turned into a career-threatening injury.

Here’s Lee, Via an interview with KNBR in San Franicso, talking about the severity of the injury.

On his injury:
“This injury went from something that I thought was going to be a two-day situation to all of a sudden they were saying ‘we might have to cut your triceps muscle and you’re never going to play again,’ to ‘you’re fine.’ It was a very scary situation, and I learned how serious infection can be. Looking back on it, I think the only way we could have prevented was by not going back in the game in New York and just sitting out. And at that point, there was nothing that indicated it was going to be very serious, so that wasn’t really an option.”

On potentially having to have his triceps muscle cut out of his arm:
“It got to the point where they said if we can’t find the right antibiotics to counter the bacteria that you’re going to have to start getting things cut out of your arm, and you may never have the same arm to play basketball again. My left arm was my shooting arm. And really, I was only out for two and a half weeks, so all of this happened in that short of a time period, so it happened quick. I was just in disbelief half the time. I’m just glad the worst didn’t occur and I’m back able to help the team now.”

Here's a few more examples of players losing teeth during games, including Goran Dragic, Aaron Brooks, Dennis Schroder and Dirk knocking three teeth out of the mouth of Carl Landry.

Awwww! On Tuesday night, a throwback photo of a young Kevin Love and very, very young looking Isaiah Thomas went viral. The classic photo of the two 16-year old future NBA All-Stars and former middle-school AAU teammates was captured during the 2005 Reebok ABCD Camp. The now defunct camp was a product of hoops grass-roots Godfather Sonny Vaccaro, a staple of the summer basketball circuit for two decades and where a lot of basketball players first made a name for themselves.

The specific 2005 camp was the subject of a must-see ESPN special, which featured Love and other top prep players like Greg Oden, OJ Mayo, Bill Walker and Lance Stephenson. And if you don't blink during the first 10 minutes of the show, you might catch a cameo by a little-known Thomas giving a peace sign while wearing a UNLV shirt.

Here's a few interesting camp notes about Love and Thomas from then Scout.com writer Jeff Goodman.

Kevin Love, C – Three losses in a row for the big man, but it's not his fault. He's still doing his work in the post and on the glass, but there's a chemistry problem on the team. The one area where Love isn't quite as effective as usual is passing, but he's scoring domainating in every other facet.

Isaiah Thomas, PG – Not normally known for playing under control, the Washington-bound point guard (and we use that term somewhat loosely) has shown the ability to run a team here rather than just trying to score – which he normally does. Give him a lot of credit because he's playing with a purpose and it's working.

And before we get into the ABCD show, I have to recommend Thomas' recent appearance on the Vertical Podcast with Woj. If you go to the 27:47 mark of the conversation, you can hear Thomas talking about the camp and quickly naming all of the guards ranked ahead of him: Derrick Rose, Jonny Flynn, Corey Fisher, Mike Conley, Brandon Jennings, James Harden, OJ Mayo, Edwin Rios, Bill Walker, Lance Stephenson.  And he also talks about his childhood relationship with Love and his family.

“Kevin and his dad Stan, they would come pick me up and I would stay the weekend at his house so I could play on that AAU team. It’s something that me and Kevin, we’ll talk about. It’s crazy that we’re both in the NBA and he is at the level he’s at, and I’m doing pretty well. To be able to say that I used to go to his house every other weekend and stay the night, and his parents used to cook dinner, and all that type of thing, it’s crazy to see that.”

One of the most amusing questions to the group was who they thought was the "best white American in the NBA" in the league right now. Kevin Love, who declined to participate, ?got 2 of the 4 votes while Smith showed Love no love by not even putting the NBA champion in his top 2.

Smith: Ryan Anderson. I played with him in New Orleans. I would have to go with him or Gordon Hayward. There are not very many of us, but there are some good ones out there.

Anderson: Kevin Love is supertalented. I grew up playing against Kevin Love quite a bit in college and everything. But, there is no harder-working white American basketball player than J.J. Redick.

Redick: Is it Kevin Love? Who am I missing? It’s probably Kevin Love. Who’s a starter?

Parsons: Me, of course.

A partially joking (I hope) Parsons picked himself and shared his thoughts on the unfair stereotypes that comes with being pale and looking like a Justin Timberlake impostor.

It’s almost like a joking thing among guys in the league about the stereotypes, whether it’s music or food or the way we dress. It’s just stereotypes that are kind of like an ongoing thing that goes on in the NBA …

There’s stuff where people call me, ‘white boy,’ or things like that. Same thing with stereotypes. Obviously, I’m a shooter because I’m white or I’m slow and less athletic because I’m white. But not hate. When I dunk on somebody, it’ll be like, ‘Oh, Chandler Parsons is deceptively athletic.’ Why wouldn’t I just be athletic?”

LeBron sat out the Cavs game against the Bucks but did make a quick cameo at the end to video bomb Dion Waiters who scored 23 points in 25 minutes including 13 in the 3rd quarter. Waiters' other new teammate Kevin Love also shined with 25 points including 5 of 7 from 3 in just 21 minutes.

As for the Bucks, Jabari Parker looked good with 18 points on 7 of 12 shooting in 28 minutes.

“I didn’t know Kevin Love got traded until yesterday,” Martin said with a straight face at Monday’s annual media day at Target Center that preceded a midnight start to training camp in Mankato. “I’m not big on looking at blogs and all that.”

My 6 year old who doesn't read blogs (or anything outside of level 1 reading books) and isn't even allowed to go on the internet unless she's on the Disney site and she knew about the Love trade. My mother-in-law from Miami who can only name 3 members of the Heat knew about Love joining LeBron.  So I refuse to believe Martin didn't know about the Love trade unless he literally was living under a rock but considering Martin lives in Ohio during the summer, I'm not even buying the rock story.

Then again, I'm always hearing stories about women who didn't know they were pregnant until they gave birth...I think I spend too much time on blogs and all that.

Yesterday, I was equally freaked out when I saw the above next-gen pic pic of Ray Allen.  I wasn't creeped out because I thought he looked like a friendly actor that wanted to murder children on a train to the north pole, I was creeped out because of how realistic they made him.  I bet if that next gen Ray Allen teamed up with Zemeckis, they could pull off a better Jesus Shuttlesworth performance.

While exploring more examples of the realism of NBA2k14 I came across this video of Eric Gordon (I guess) and Anthony Davis caught in one of those awkward Kevin Love handshakes.

So here's a toast to next gen graphics and our bleak future where the next AI will end up looking like Haley Joel Osment in AI.
