In Episode No. 52 of our In The Paint Show,"  co-hosts Ronnie Flores and Devin Ugland break down the Ballislife journey of the company's co-owner Arek Kissoyan, from creating and sharing videos on "mixmakers.net" to spearheading BIL's role as the industry leader in basketball highlight videos and mixtapes.

Kissoyan breaks down his obsession with Kobe Bryant mixes in mid-2000's to joining forces with eventual Ballislife President Matt Rodriguez in 2006 while he still lived in San Ramon, Calif., while his eventual business partner was in Southern California filming a talented high school junior by the name of DeMar DeRozan. Kissoyan discusses how he got started with BIL and how the fledging company decided to start its All-American Game in 2011, and how difficult a process that was, and how BIL got its first big break with the NBA lockout later that summer.

Kissoyan also talks about the support he received to continue the Ballislife All-American Game after that first year, and strategically developing the company into one that could eventually turn a profit and hire employees by focusing on building a content creation team, while Rodriguez focused on biz-dev.

Ballislife's co-owner and its website's publisher also goes in on his favorite players to film over the years and the biggest changes he's seen within the mixtape industry over the years. Kissoyan also gives his take on the recent social media rift between traditional media outlets that focus on game results and new media outlets that highlight and follow top players that their large audience base want to see, regardless of the game's outcome.

For most NBA fans, the 2011 NBA lockout was a terrible time. For us, it was one of our favorite and most important times.

Since a lot of the "out-of-work" players were itching to play some hoops, lockout games were being organized all over the US and many of them featured many of the best players in the league -- from Kevin Durant to LeBron James to even Kobe Bryant.  So we packed up our cameras, bought a bunch of plane tickets, attended as many games as we could and shared with the world the basketball action they weren't getting from the NBA.

WE BELIEVE VS DUBS GAME

One of our favorite games of the lockout was the "We Believe vs Dubs" game, which took place at San Jose State University and featured former Warriors Jason Richardson, Gilbert Arenas, Al Harrington, Corey Maggette, Antawn Jamison and CJ Watson going against current Warriors Dorell Wright, David Lee, an unknown Jeremy Lin and a not as popular Steph Curry.

One of our favorite moments from the game is when Steph Curry danced with CJ, hit a 3 and then started celebrating before being dropped to the ground by CJ.

The current Warriors won 158-153 and you can check out all the great action in the following video, including a duel between Hibachi and pre-Linsanity Jeremy Lin.

Lockout negotiations between the NBA owners and the NBA Players Association broke today with virtually no positives coming from the meeting.

Somehow, the situation is getting even worse.

With no outcome from today's meeting we are likely to see cancellations of more regular season games and the possibility of a season actually happening are getting slimmer.

Last week, David Stern said that if no deal was made this week that the NBA may cancel games through Christmas.

Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports that talks broke down over the proposed revenue split. He also reported that the owners proposed a 50-50 split of all basketball related income while the players proposed a band of a minimum of 50% and a maximum of 53%, depending on how the league did financially.

Billy Hunter, NBA Player's Association executive director, said the owners would not budge from the 50-50 split saying the owners gave them an virtual ultimatum of "take it or leave it."

Alex Kennedy of HOOPSWORLD, reported that a source close to the NBAPA said the owners "planned this all along" and that "they don't want to make a deal. They wasted our time. They teased us."

Kennedy also reports that according to his source, San Antonio Spurs owner, Peter Holt, is slowing down the negotiations and told the players, "You haven't felt enough pain."

Reactions from players on Twitter have been quite hostile with Dwyane Wade tweeting, "You know it's sad when people don't even try and hide their greed."

The prospect of seeing an NBA game in the near future are looking very grim. No meetings between the parties have been scheduled and Stern, who was not present at today's negotiations due to illness, will meet with league officials on Friday where game cancellations are all but certain.

If your glass was half full before today, your outlook is going to be a little less hopeful. The situation is looking pretty bleak.
