In episode No. 32 of our ?In The Paint Show,"? co-hosts?Devin Ugland and Ronnie Flores?break down the just completed NCAA College Basketball Academies, the organization's show piece response to the?FBI bribery and corruption recruiting scandal. The event was created from scratch while other pre-existing sanctioned events were altered as part of the NCAA's new recruiting calendar.

Had these events been created in addition to what was available for college coaches on the previous calendar, they would be a terrific work in progress. But since they replaced what was available to coaches last July at this time, they need significant improvement.

The fellas bring on special guests Frank Burlison of BurlisonOnBasketball.com and Aaron Burgin of PrepHoops.com to discuss the NCAA Academies. Burlison is a U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Famer who attended both sessions of the Phoenix version of the four NCAA Academies who had a chance to speak at length to NCAA Vice President for Men’s Basketball Dan Gavitt about the direction the academies are going because, according to Gavitt, they are a long-term investment.

Burgin has a unique perspective on the camp because he runs an NCAA-approved scouting service, evaluates and a myriad of grassroots events and also had his son (2021 guard Aaron Burgin Jr. of San Diego, Calif.) participating at the event. Burgin game some insight to what the participants experienced and what went well as far as game play and curriculum and what went wrong in Phoenix with regards to logistics.

Burlison and Burgin also speak on some of the camp's top performers.

The changed recruiting calendar has affected plenty of 2020 recruits and many potential deserving participants were unaware of the NCAA Academies' selection process so this week's pod is important in order for players and parents to be informed on what might transpire in the future!
