Chase Adams leads a strong group of 6 seniors at Chicago Orr Academy. After a strong regular season, Orr faced Red conference rivals Uplift HS in a 2A Sectional at Timothy Christian in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Orr was without head coach Lou Adams who was attending son Lou Jr's senior night at Wyoming where he plays basketball.
Orr defeated Uplift twice during the season (in conference play and at Proviso West Holiday tournament which Orr won). Neither game was close. This time was different.
Uplift jumped out to a 17-3 lead. They held a 12 point lead at the half. Senior Brian Hernandez poured in 7 threes (7-9) and Orr was able to tie Uplift in regulation.
After Uplift scoring leader, Kansas commit Markese Jacobs fouled-out with 3 minutes left overtime, Orr was able to cruise to a 75-66 win.
Chase Adams finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds. Ty Mosely (12 points), Raekwon Drake (13 points, 13 rebounds), and Dannie Smith (14 points, 8 rebounds) helped Orr's balanced attack but the scoring leader was Brian Hernandez (23 points)!
Uplift was led by juniors Markese Jacobs (23 points) and Detailian Brown (18 points).

Chicago's 2018 Public League Basketball Title game featured Orr Academy from the West Side who were playing for their first city title versus South Side (and national) powerhouse Simeon Career Academy.
Chicago State's arena was virtually at capacity as the city's 2 heavyweight's faced-off.
Tied at halftime, Simeon never slowed-down. Perhaps it was depth or experience or simply the play of star senior Talen Horton-Tucker (23 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks) who willed the Wolverines to a 69-59 victory.
This was Simeon's third Public League title in 3 years. Senior Talen and junior PG Kejuan Clements (18 points, 5 rebounds) played on all 3 varsity squads.
Simeon's the first school to 3-peat since the 1950s-60s.
Orr was led by star senior point guard Chase Adams (16 points, 6 rebounds). His quickness gave Simeon fits at times but Orr was unable to sustain momentum.
Orr's senior frontcourt: Dannie Smith (15 points) and Raekwon Drake (13 points, 10 rebounds) were factors, outrebounding Simeon. It just wasn't enough.
Now both teams focus their attention on the Illinois state tournament. Orr tries to repeat as 2A champs and Simeon is looking to win 4A.

Chase Adams transferred into Chicago Orr Academy leading into his senior year. The dynamic point guard took a little time to get comfortable with the 2A defending Illinois state champs.
And now with Chase at point guard, the Orr Academy Spartans (23-3) are about to play for their first ever Chicago Public League title where they will face Simeon.
But first let's show how they got there. #2 Orr faced #3 Curie. Curie beat Orr in Curie's first game of the season. Curie's only in-state losses were 2 to #1 Simeon.
Curie jumped out first, but Orr's big physical front court of Dannie Smith (17 points, 10 rebounds)and Raekwon Drake (16 points) were too much to handle.
Chase Adams shot well (14 points) and Brian Hernandez (13 points) showed his range for Orr.
Final score was Orr 71-Curie 59. Curie (23-4) was led by guards Maurice Commander (16 points) and Marquise Walker (12 points).
Orr's basketball program is prominently featured in new FOX documentary "Shot in the Dark", executive produced by Dwyane Wade and Chance the Rapper.

Here's Chase Adams & Raekwon Drake of Chicago Orr defending Chicago territory against a very tough Saint Louis Vashon squad led by Mario Mckinney at Chicago Orr Breast Cancer Awareness Shootout. Last year, Vashon defeated Chicago Orr in Saint Louis so coming into the match-up, Orr Academy was focused not to let it happen again. The environment was a big test to Vashon as they were tested to see how well they were going to play against Chicago Orr at Orr's home gym which was set around 90+ degrees inside the gym building which is something like a 2014 Miami Heat at San Antonio Spurs in hot arena game 1. Going into the first game, both team kept it close with exchanging baskets back and forth as it was a run-and-gun game with a non-stop pace. Vashon put all their effort into the 1st half making it even against Chicago 33-33. Going into the 2nd half is where the heat was kicking in and Vashon couldn't find their rhythm to control the game and this shows to many spectators and critics that a point guard make a big difference in a game which is why Chase Adams was a main factor of the game. Chase was also assisted by Raekwon Drake which protected inside the paint with mean blocks and non-stop rebounds to prevent Vashon to complete their incoming buckets. But Orr Academy wasn't only about those key players as they played their game and made sure it was a team effort going against Vashon as they secured the 75-65 victory.

Chase Adams is leading Orr to a terrific regular season thus far. Orr is considered to be a top 2 or 3 high school team in the Chicago area alongside clear #1 Simeon and contender Curie.
After playing across the midwest this season, Orr is settling into its difficult conference schedule with a target on their backs.
Orr jumped out to an 11-0 (and 15-1) lead vs North Lawndale but from that point on, NLCP turned-up! NLCP led for most of the 4th quarter.
In the end, Orr escaped with a 57-53 road win in the final minute.
Breakout senior Dannie Smith finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds including a clutch 3 in the final minutes.
Shooter and emotional leader Brian Hernandez scored 13 for Orr. Fellow senior Raekwon Drake scored 11 points and had numerous blocks.
Orr Junior transfer Tujautae Williams had an epic missed dunk.
North Lawndale was led by Demetrius Douglas (13 points), David Forrest (11 points) and reserve Clavonee Hillard (10 points).

Chase Adams, Orr Academy Blowout Proviso Tournament Field! Adams Picks Up D1 College Basketball Offer!

Chase Adams is having a stellar senior season so far. The electrifying, undersized 2018 point guard transferred into 2A defending state champs Orr.
While being named preseason #1 Chicago area team by the Sun Times, the season started off a bit rocky with close one-possesion losses to big-school state title-contenders Danville and Curie.
Now Orr is starting to click. In the Proviso West Holiday Tournament semifinals Orr faced conference rivals Chicago Uplift featuring Kansas Jayhawks commit Markese Jacobs. It was a highly-anticipated matchup between the 2019 PG (Markese) vs the 2018 PG (Chase).
The game was never close! Markese Jacobs finished with 7 points. Orr won in a blowout 92-38. It was 51-13 at the half! Chase Adams scored 12 points in the first quarter then sat
much of the rest of the half after the score was too lopsided. Ty Mosley (UW-Milwaukee) played his back game since returning from injury.
Orr used everyone from their bench. They also went on to defeat Chicago powerhouse (top 5 team) Whitney Young by 16 points to win the title.
Dannie Smith, Raekwon Drake and Chase Adams were all named All-Tournament Team. Chase averaged 12.3 points per game for the tournament in 23 minutes per game (4 blowout wins). He led Orr with 18 assists was second with 5 steals. He averaged 3 rebounds and shot 52% from field, 92% from the line.
Following the tournament, Chase Adams picked up a Division 1 scholarship offer from University of Illinois at Chicago and Coach Steve McClain.

Here's Chase Adams & Chicago Orr showing out in front of Saint Louis home town crowd against Kansas State commit Shaun Williams at Midwest Shootout event. The Spartans ran enough to get past by the undefeated class 5 hazelwood central hawks in a 75-69 win. Raekwon Drake finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Senior forward Donnie Smith had 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. Senior point guard Chase Adams had 15 points. Shaun Williams the Kansas State commit from hazelwood central finished with 24 points.

Chicago Orr is the local Sun Times' preseason #1 team. Led by 2018 point guard Chase Adams, Wisconsin-Milwaukee commit Ty Mosely, Raekwon Drake and Dannie Smith, Orr (defending 2A state champs) are
hoping to win Chicago's city title.
Their first Chicago public league game of the season puts Orr against Curie. This was Curie's first game of the season so jitters are expected. Curie transfer, D1 PG Maurice Commander wasn't cleared to play by gametime so transfer Marquise Walker ran the point.
Commander was cleared the next day. Curie is also led by the Martin brothers, Treavon Martin and Tyree Martin. Combined they're one of Chicago's best and biggest front court.
The game was held at a neutral site (IIT) on a college court to accommodate the crowds. It was loud and packed!

Chase Adams is probably best known for his Ballislife highlight mixes. Every time the 2018 Orr Academy point guard steps on the floor he has a target on his back.
This season (his first at Chicago Orr Academy), Chase and the Spartans are the preseason #1 team in the Chicago Sun Times poll (Chicago area). Their goal is to win city and defend their 2A Illinois state title.
With Chase Adams at PG, Orr is led by returning starters Raekwon Drake, Ty Mosley (UW Milwaukee commit), Dannie Smith and excellent role players like Brian Hernandez and Emanuel Oneal.
Tyler Herro (2018 Whitnall) is one of the top shooters in the nation. The recent Kentucky commit opened his senior season versus Orr at Washington Tournament of Champions near Peoria.
In the end, Orr came out on top 83-56. Raekwon Drake was named MVP finishing with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks. Chase Adams finished with 12 points and tournament record 12 assists! Brian Hernandez added 19 points, Dannie Smith 14 points 5 assists, Ty Mosley 11 points 6 rebounds. Emanuel ONeal finished with 9 rebounds and 2 thunderous dunks in the closing minutes!
Tyler Herro finished with 18 points for Whitnall. He had multiple defenders covering him all night.

Chase Adams is one of Chicago's best-known high school basketball players. The electrifying 2018 point guard recently transferred into Chicago public high school Orr Academy on the city's West Side. Orr doesn't get the press or national notoriety that conference rival Whitney Young receives but Orr has equally lofty goals for the 2017-18 high school season.
The defending 2A Illinois state champion Orr Spartans play in the highest-level conference in Chicago and have scheduled many out of town and out of state games this season.
They're playing to defend their state title and to win the coveted Chicago city title.
The Spartans return virtually all of their state champ squad including seniors Raekwon Drake, Ty Mosely, Dannie Smith and Brian Hernandez.
Raekwon Drake is a 4 year starter with D1 offers and Ty Mosely had a breakout summer on the UAA circuit with Illinois Wolves gathering high-major D1 interest. Dannie Smith and Brian Hernandez remain 2 of the best, most-underrated role players in Chicago.
We caught one of Orr's open gym sessions (on a 90 degree afternoon) and thought Ballislife viewers would want an early look at what might be the most underrated public school team in Chicago (or the nation).

Elijah Joiner leads Curie in CRAZY Chicago Playoff Showdown!!

Top-seeded Curie HS (23-2) is on a mission to win a Chicago Public League City title but first they had to defeat rugged Orr (16-5) from the city's West Side in the quarterfinals to advance to the final four.
Curie came out fast on their home court and led Orr at the half by 14. Senior guard Elijah Joiner (Tulsa) scored 15 in the first half and finished with 18 to lead all scorers.
Allante Pickens (17 points) hit the game tying and game winning free throws with 10 seconds left in regulation to lift the Condors. Terry TJ Smith added 15 for Curie. Former Curie star and current pro Cliff Alexander was in the gym to support his former high school.
Orr mounted a furious comeback, but fell short at the buzzer, losing 62-61.
By winning, the Curie Condors advance to play Morgan Park in the semifinals at Chicago State on Friday night.
Brian Hernandez led the Spartans with 17 points, including five 3-pointers and Orr junior Dannie Smith scored 16 points. His 3-point attempt at the buzzer narrowly missed.
The best dunks of the game came from Orr's Raekwon Drake who finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
The Spartans’ Tyron Mosley had 12 points and six rebounds.
