]]>Rebound Bosh
Back out to Allen
His three-pointer
BAAAANNNG!!!
Today is the anniversary of Ray Allen's historic three-pointer from Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.
If you are Kevin Garnett or Rajon Rondo, you will probably call it the anniversary of Chris Bosh's historic offensive rebound that led to a clutch three that put the game into OT.
If you hate LeBron like Rondo hates Allen, you will probably call it the anniversary of Jesus saving LeBron's legacy; I usually respond to those people by reminding them LeBron had a big quarter (16 points on 7-of-10 shooting) before Allen hit that big three and finished with 32 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. I also like to remind people that LeBron playing most of the fourth quarter without his headband was such a big deal some refer to this game as the "LeBron James Headband Game."
If you are a Tracy McGrady fan, you will probably remember how bad you felt for T-Mac because this was the closest he ever got to winning an NBA championship ring.
If you are one of the many Miami Heat fans that left the game early (while T-Mac was thinking about where he was going to party later that night), you are probably still pissed that you paid a $hitload of money for tickets and didn't get to see the shot and overtime.
If you are the NBA, you will probably remember giving the orders to bring out the yellow tape and Championship trophy and then quickly putting it away because a Game 7 still needed to be played before crowning a champion.
Regardless of how you want to remember the final minute of the nerve-racking fourth quarter of Game 6, everyone can agree Ray Allen's shot is one of the most memorable and clutch ones in league history.
Here's a great deep dive into the shot by SB Nation, followed by a cool Micro-Movie about Game 6 and the internet's reaction to LeBron losing his headband.
F**k it!!!!! I'm never wearing my headband again either!!!!!!
— Ty Lawson (@TyLawson3) June 19, 2013
Please put the headband back on, LeBron. It's like you're naked. I feel like I'm supposed to avert my eyes.
— SB Nation NBA (@SBNationNBA) June 19, 2013
LeBron going bananas without the headband has instantly become my favorite NBA storyline of the season.
— Dan Shanoff (@danshanoff) June 19, 2013
Maybe the headband was actually LeBron's kryptonite?
— PTI (@PTI) June 19, 2013
This HAS to be the moment LeBron permanently ditches the headband.
— Taco Trey Kerby (@treykerby) June 19, 2013
LeBron without a headband is like seeing Darth Vader's real face.
— Ben Jones (@Ben_Jones88) June 19, 2013
Tim Duncan should run over, pick up Bron's headband, put it on and say, "Now, I'm the King."
— Royce Young (@royceyoung) June 19, 2013
Wow. I thought it was Jerry. Stack house. But it's Lebron without a headband

LeBron wanted the lob, but no one recognizes him without his headband.
— Tas Melas (@TasMelas) June 19, 2013
I wish I was kidding: 107 parody Twitter accounts were created tonight for LeBron James' headband.

]]>Who needs a Boston Celtics reunion party when you can have a dance battle with Mike Finley and Les Twins? I know, most of you are saying "Who?!" and after watching the video of Jesus with the famous French dancers you will probably be saying "He got game but he don't got dance moves."
Here's what Jesus Shuttlesworth had to say about the video: "My dancing certainly needs work but it was an honor to cut the rug with @lestwinson @lestwinsoff. These dudes are incredible!!!! And yes, a huge shout out to @michaelfinley4 #cabo #jbog #jaysonmyfeet"
Besides "Jays on his feet," is it me or does the 41-year old Ray look like he's wearing a baby onesie on his skinny body? How skinny? Earlier in the year, Ray posted the middle picture below on Instagram showing how he's weighing less now (195) than he did in college (197) 20 years ago; He was around 205 for much of his NBA career.
Sunday night I started a juicing cleanse for 2 days because I felt like I needed to detox. Since then I have not had a bite of food and It was tough!!!! My mind is tougher though!!! Don't be controlled by your body's desires to make you wanna eat foods that will continue to take you down that road that you don't wanna go down. Health is wealth!! 195 is what I weighed my freshman year in college, 24 years ago. I know a lot of you can get back to your playing weight,Lol. It just requires you to sacrifice. Some foods just aren't good for us anymore. The foods we ate as kids are not the same. And more importantly, our bodies change and require us to change what we put into it. 38% of American adults in this country are obese. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in children and adults in America. We need to reduce these numbers. Change how you eat and you will change your life!!!!!!!!! #carpediem #grownman #beorganic #juicefromtheraw #paleolife #changestartswithyourself #notbadfor41
If you don't know anything about Les Twins, just watch this video, which is as jaw-dropping as a game-tying three in the NBA Finals.

]]>The post Donuts! 15 Of The Worst Shooting Performances Of All-Time appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>Today is National Donut Day which means most donut spots -- like Dunkin' Donuts, Shipley and Krispy Kreme -- are offering free donuts for the next few hours. So if you are having a craving for one or living in LA and hoping to get Big Baby Davis' autograph then you might want to hurry to a donut spot.
Since we don't have any deep fried pieces of dough that will make you fat, increase your risk of heart disease and mess with your glucose levels, to give away, I thought we would celebrate the special day by remembering when a few NBA players made some donuts.
The best donut of 2017 goes to the Warriors Patrick McCaw. On March 11th against the Spurs, with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in suits, McCaw got to play 42 minutes and take 12 shots -- he missed all 12! Earlier in the season, Aaron Gordon (0-12) , Robert Covington (0-11) and Justin Anderson (0-11) all made donuts with 10+ shot attempts.
In 2015, we had five instances and the one that stuck out the most was Kyle Korver for his 0-11 night against the Rockets. What made it so special is he went 0-10 from three, which made him the first player in NBA history to go scoreless in a game while attempting 10+ threes. FYI, the record for most threes without a make is 0-11, an accomplishment Steph Curry, Antoine Walker and Trey Burke have all done.
And now to a few of my all-time favorite donut makers.
The Pacers' 7'2 center didn't just go without a field goal in a game during the 2014 playoffs, Hibbert put up four donuts within a month! Everybody from Tracy McGrady to Gilbert Arenas was trolling Hibbert online after he put up these stats.
4/28/14: 0 points (0-2 fg) in 12 minutes
5/01/14: 0 points (0-1 fg) in 12 minutes
5/05/14: 0 points (0-2 fg) in 17 minutes
5/26/14: 0 points (0-4 fg) in 22 minutes
The Timberwolves were so bad in the early 90s that your best (that's arguable) player could go 0-17 while another starter goes 0-4 and you could still get a W. Thankfully the 1991 All-Star did make both of his free throws during his 44 minute of action so he didn't end up scoreless, but I can't imagine what was going through his head after he missed his first 10 or so shots -- especially when he got to his last two shots. The other starter who had a donut was the handsome Tyrone Hill, who was 0-4 in nine minutes of action.
"I'm going to frame this box score," said Hardaway after the W. "I had to get an NBA record somehow. I was never 0-for at any level. What can I say?"
Like Hardaway, Westbrook had a great teammate who could light it up every night so on December 28th of 2011. when Westbrook missed all 13 of his shots, Kevin Durant stepped up and made 10 of 17 shots for 32 points to give the Thunder a win. Merry Christmas Russell!
Having a bad game around Christmas sucks but having one during the Finals is the worst. This is what happened to Jesus Shuttlesworth when he followed up a 32-point performance in Game 2 of the 2010 finals with a big donut in Game 3. How big of a donut did Ray put up in 42 minutes? 0-13 and just like Tim Hardaway, he made two free throws to prevent himself from having a scoreless game.
Note: 8 of Ray's 13 misses were 3-pointers.
What's worse than having a donut in GM3 of the NBA Finals? How about a donut in GM7 of the NBA Finals. That's what the late great Dennis Johnson did in 1978. Against the Bullets, DJ missed all 14 of his shots. But like all greats, DJ bounced back and returned to the NBA finals the next year, beat the Bullets and won MVP of the Finals.
As evident by the list above, even All-Stars and Hall-of-Famers can have bad games -- really, really bad games. And here's a few more All-Stars and solid players that have no interest in celebrating this day with us.
A Donut Bacon CheeseBurger...just because!

]]>Per Marc J. Spears of the Undefeated, here's what Rondo had to say about the greatest shooter of all-time (yep!) divorcing Rondo, KG, The Truth and the rest of the 2008 Celtics to join the "enemy."
I don't know a good analogy to put this in. It just wasn't the greatest separation. It wasn't the greatest thing that could've happened to us as a team, a bond. We were at war with those guys [Miami]. To go with the enemy, that's unheard of in sports. Well, it's not so unheard of. It's damn near common now.
The mindset we had. The guys on our team. You wouldn't do anything like that. It makes you question that series in the Finals … Who were you for? You didn't bleed green. People think we had a messed-up relationship. It's not the greatest. But it's not just me. I called and reached out to a couple of other vets and asked them what they wanted to do with the situation. They told me to stick with what we got [without Allen].
According to Ray in a 2012 interview with the Miami Herald, his relationship with Rondo started back in 2009.
The friction with Rondo began in 2009 when Rivers and Celtics president Danny Ainge proposed a trade that would have sent Allen and Rondo to Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa and the 14th overall pick in the 2010 draft.
Allen said that, at the time, Ainge and Rivers “didn’t get along” with Rondo.
“So, I called him and I told him, ‘hey they’re supposedly trading us to Phoenix because you and Danny and Doc don’t get along,’?” Allen said. “?‘So, whatever you can do.’
“So, for some reason, I guess he thought that I was … that I had something against him, or there were some issues. And I had no issues with him. I won with him.”
Now, Allen says if Rondo “had issue with me, that’s on him.”
So it's no surprise Ray Allen wont be getting any invites from Rondo but this story does give me an excuse to share my favorite ItsReal85 video (starts at 43 second mark), with KG planning to kill Ray Allen for wanting to leave Boston.

So I thought it would be cool to do a little tribute to the prettiest thing in basketball by stating some very random data about Ray Allen's shot and showing a few videos of the moving masterpiece in action. Enjoy and go practice some jumpers afterwards.

]]>The post Slam recreates famous 96 Draft Cover with this years rookies appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>One of the best and most memorable covers in Slam Magazine's history hit bookstore shelves 18 years ago. The fold out cover featured 11 rookies from the historic 1996 NBA draft that included high schoolers Kobe and Jermaine O'Neal, draft day trades Stephon Marbury and Ray Allen, early rookie of the year candidate Kerry Kittles, fantasy beast from the start Antoine Walker, Shareef Abdur Rahim, Marcus Camby and some white kid named Steve Nash who many of us initially thought didn't belong next to a future NBA star like John Wallace (boy were we wrong).
Over the years, Slam has brought out the cover concept for other NBA draft classes and like the class of 2002 with Jay Williams, Dajuan Wagner, Qyntel Woods and Nikoloz Tskitishvili, it wasn't always a hit.
In 2004, Slam used elements of the "Ready or Not...Here They Come!" concept to make a pretty cool cover with high school All-Americans Dwight Howard, Josh Smith, Al Jefferson, Marvin Williams, Shaun Livingston and Bassy.
3 years later, we even saw their sister magazine XXL use elements of the concept on a "Leaders of the New School" cover featuring rappers like Lupe Fiasco that you may like and a few guys like Rich Boy, Lil Boosie, Young Dro, Plies and Gorrila Zoe that you probably don't ever care to hear from again.
But it would be 18 years since the original classic until Slam took a shot at truly duplicating the cover and like the talented 2014 draft class, it looks like they have a winner.
And like the original cover which was missing Allen Iverson, this cover is missing a player who many thing will have a good career - Dante Exum. But you gotta love how Julius Randle and Jabari Parker are in the same spots that Kobe and Ray Allen were in and that Ray didn't "fade into obscurity."
In honor of that original cover, here's some behind the scenes pics and highlights with Kobe, Ray and the other great rookies of the 96 class.

During the Heat's GM1 loss to the Spurs, Ray reminded us that he's just as deadly going to the rim as he his from behind the 3-point line, when he threw down this dunk by Danny Green (who is just as deadly from 3 when it's the NBA Finals).
Let's take a look back at Jesus' hops with the top 10 dunks of his career.

]]>Yesterday, I was equally freaked out when I saw the above next-gen pic pic of Ray Allen. I wasn't creeped out because I thought he looked like a friendly actor that wanted to murder children on a train to the north pole, I was creeped out because of how realistic they made him. I bet if that next gen Ray Allen teamed up with Zemeckis, they could pull off a better Jesus Shuttlesworth performance.
While exploring more examples of the realism of NBA2k14 I came across this video of Eric Gordon (I guess) and Anthony Davis caught in one of those awkward Kevin Love handshakes.
So here's a toast to next gen graphics and our bleak future where the next AI will end up looking like Haley Joel Osment in AI.

]]>The post The Boston 'Streak' Party: Heat Win 23rd Straight, But Celtics Show Life in Eastern Conference appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>Since Derek Rose’s injury, teams in the Eastern Conference have been jostling for positioning and bragging rights as the conference’s second-best team and biggest threat to the Heat. The Knicks once proud defense has drastically dropped off as has their health. The last two weeks saw Carmelo Anthony (knee, day-to-day), Tyson Chandler (knee/neck, a week), and Amare Stoudemire (knee, five weeks) all go down. They’re the oldest team in the League and they’re falling apart.
The Pacers are the team directly behind the Heat in conference standings, and they boast one of the League’s stingiest defenses. The Pacers bruising style results in allowing opponents 41FG% overall and 51FG% within five feet of the hoop, both League best’s. While the Pacers were also the last team to beat the Heat this season and took them to six games in last year’s playoffs, they also just got handled by them at home, by 14 points. I think the Pacers are offensively challenged at times and too inconsistent on that end to keep up with Miami. Paul George is a nice player and an All-Star, but he alone can’t create enough for the Pacers offense.
The Celtics had an epic seven game series with the Heat in last year’s playoffs, but their season was all but doomed this year when Rondo went down with a torn ACL last month. Doc Rivers and his message of teamwork is being heard, and he’s doing a masterful job with his personnel tinkering. He’s been finding the right combinations with his offensively limited group to somehow replace, just a fraction of Rondo’s playmaking.
And as long as Rivers and Kevin Garnett are in Boston, you can count on the Celtics to defend. A healthy Avery Bradley is very good at just that, and is something Boston didn’t have in last year’s Conference Finals against the Heat. One of the League’s best perimeter defenders returned this season and has since validated his defensive reputation. Bradley is reminiscent of a more athletic Tony Allen, a comparison Bostonians would happily welcome. His relentless hawking both on and off the ball make him an intangible asset as he tirelessly blankets the opponents best perimeter players each game.
The Celtics were also missing another huge piece in that series versus the Heat. Jeff Green, whose comeback from a heart procedure serves as inspiration enough, has been a revelation for Rivers and the Celtics this season. His versatility and size make them more dynamic on both sides of the court. The talented Green gives Doc the ability to adapt to an opponent’s playing style on the fly, being able to play both big and small lineups. In Monday night against the Heat, Green erupted for 43 points (career-high) and in three games this season against the Heat, his numbers are: 35.0 MPG, 19.0 PPG, 55%FG, 60%3PT, 4.7 RPG. He’s a walking mismatch that Boston would love to have had available last regular, and post-season.
The Celtics are finding their identity late in the season, with Pierce assuming a point-forward role as a facilitator (avg 6.4 APG in last 10 games), and Jason Terry beginning to make shots. Without their defensive and spiritual leader in Garnett, Monday night’s 105-103 Celtics loss to the Heat should be a sign of encouragement. Franchises like the Celtics aren't afforded moral victories, but they played well enough in last night’s two-point loss to pass the eye test. The Celtics recent play, combined with the collective fading of the Eastern Conference confirmed in my mind, my early season hunch, that Boston would prove Miami’s toughest inter-conference obstacle. The two play one more time in April, a week or so before the playoffs where we'll see if the Celtics, or if anyone by then, can finally beat the Heat.
