The triple-double King, Russell Westbrook, fell one assist short of getting another triple-double in the Thunder's 13-point GM3 loss to the Jazz on Saturday. The Jesus of Utah, Ricky Rubio, did get 10 assists and a triple-double (26 PTS, 11 REB, 10 ASTS). It was the third triple-double in franchise history and first since John Stockton did it 17 years ago (Rickey Green was first in 1984).

"Having my name next to his name is an honor," Said Rubio, wearing a shirt with the FRIENDS tv show logo while cracking a joke about not speaking English. "I don't know what to say. It's huge. I have huge respect for him. I feel great."

Respect is something Westbrook didn't have Rubio during his postgame interview.

"He made some shots. Too comfortable. But I'm going to shut that shit off next game thought. Guarantee that."

There's not many safe guarantees during the playoffs but I would feel comfortable making a bet that Westbrook will win the individual statistical battle with Rubio in GM4; I would NOT comfortably make a bet that this personal accomplishment will help his team win, especially if he continues to shoot 35% or if he has 8 turnovers with 9 assists again...or if OKC continues to let the real Rookie of the Year and Slow-Mo Joe continue to put up 20+ points while Rudy Gobert double-doubles.

During a recent interview with Cadena Ser, Spaniard Ricky Rubio talked about his love for the GOAT (Michael Jordan) and growing up wanting to be...black. Seriously, as a child, he wanted to grow up to be a black man. Here's his full quote, translated by HoopsHype.

I was obsessed with Jordan. I just watched the NBA and just watched black players. I wanted to play (in the States) and I told my mother I wanted to be black.

Unfortunately, he grew up to be a couple of inches shorter and a few shades lighter than MJ. He also can't fly or shoot or play D like Mike. But in my book, he can be just as fun to watch...sometimes.

Earlier this summer, Luke Ridnour made history by being traded 4 times in a month. That was shocking even for a guy who has been on 5 different teams and 1 team twice since 2003 but what's even more shocking is after 852 games, the 6'2 guard has never dunked in a game. At 6'2 we know Luke can dunk and with over a decade of basketball on his NBA resume, he's had to have had plenty of opportunities to throw one down but he has somehow managed to never do so.

The closest player to this streak is 6'3 Beno Udrih at 801 but considering Beno has averaged 5 points a game over his last 4 seasons, it's unlikely one of his field goals will end up being a dunk. So Luke's record seems safe.

6'0 JJ Barea is in 3rd but he gets some props for attempting them.  He even attempted a tip dunk last season.

And you catch him throwing down before games sometimes.

Now i'm not going to be Captain Obvious and state why 6'0 DJ Augustin should be ashamed to be on this list after 539 games - don't call me racist, it's because his first name is Darryl and he plays for the Thunder and that sounds close to Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins.

Ricky Rubio and Jimmer Fredette are also on this list and we do have proof both can dunk...eventhough we are going back to high school to show proof on Jimmer.

DALY CITY, Calif. -- Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio still managed to get his first taste of NBA-caliber competition during the lockout.

Rubio played Sunday night in the Drew Gooden Make-A-Wish Charity Game at the Cow Palace.

The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard showed off passing skills, a nice long-range shot and even some humor during the game that raised $10,000 for Gooden's favorite cause.

Rubio was on the losing side but it really didn't matter. Both teams played as if they weren't keeping score. For the record, the White team, which featured California product Leon Powe and former Warriors player Al Harrington, won 117-92.

"It's fun to play with NBA players," Rubio said. "It should make it easier when we come back to play."

Rubio, who signed with the Timberwolves in June, still has the option to return to Spain, where he became the youngest player on a roster of the Spanish ACB League at age 14 in 2005.

"I'm going to stay here for a while to see if we'll play," Rubio said. "I can always go back to Spain. So I know I will be playing basketball somewhere this season."

Rubio drilled a 3-pointer on his first attempt and executed a perfectly timed alley-oop pass with DeMar DeRozan for a backdoor slam.

DeRozan also had the best dunk of the night with a monster slam. Joakim Noah, unofficially, produced the most slams and James Harden recorded the most ingenuous slam.

The teams played four, 10-minute quarters with a 15-minute halftime that was entertaining as the game itself.

At one point in the second half, Rubio gave the ball to a fan, asking him to inbound it for him. Players subbed into the game during play, ala hockey's shift change.

DeRozan and Gooden attempted full-length of the court shots during halftime and the game was stopped twice for an on-court shooting contest.

Originally scheduled to be played at the University of San Francisco, the game was switched to the Cow Palace at the last moment. Cow Palace Rentals and Operations Officer Diana Colvin said a concert, originally scheduled for Saturday night, was canceled, making it easier to transform the venerable arena into a basketball configuration.
