]]>The post Remembering "The Malice At the Palace" Brawl Between the Pacers & Pistons appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>On this day in history, November 19th of 2004, the infamous Malice at the Palace brawl between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons happened on live TV. A brawl that led to five players being charged with assault, nine players receiving a suspension and five fans getting hit with criminal charges and a lifetime ban from attending Pistons home games.
Metta World Peace, back when he was Ron Artest, received the biggest punishment (73 regular-season games and 13 playoff ones), which resulted in almost $5 million in lost salary. Teammate Stephen Jackson had the second biggest suspension (30 games) for going into the crowd and punching a fan.

Back in 2013, Stephen Jackson talked to ESPN's Dan Le Batard about the incident and told a pretty funny story about Artest not understanding how serious the brawl was.
“I don’t think [Artest] was thinking at the time,” Jackson said. “Me and Jamaal Tinsley every time I see him we laugh at this. Right after the brawl, we’re in the locker room. And this is why I said [Artest] never said ‘thanks.’ So we’re in the locker room, legs all scratched up from hopping over the bleachers, our adrenaline pumping, we laid a couple people out, like we did something, know what I mean? We all sit back, and Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace, leans back and looks at Jamaal Tinsley and asks us, ‘do you think we’re going to get in trouble?’ I said ‘Ron, in trouble?! We’re lucky if we still have a job!’ That was the funniest thing ever. Trouble? We’re lucky we have a job Ron.”
Ron didn't have a job with the Pacers for much longer. After only playing 16 games the following season, he demanded a trade and was sent to Sacramento a month later.
Here are a few videos of Ron and Jackson talking about the brawl on other shows.

]]>If you don't know much about NBA Champion Stephen Jackson and "your Google don't work," here's a few things to know about Captain Jack from Port Arthur, TX (What's up Bun B). On the court, he played 14 seasons in the NBA, averaging around 20 points with four different teams. You can now catch him putting up those numbers and arguing with coach Charles Oakley (must-watch video above) in Ice Cube's BIG3 league.
Off the court (and coming off the court), he's built a resume very few players can touch. A resume that includes him running into the crowd and punching a fan during The Malice At The Palace, turning into Dahlsim and choking Steve Francis because the Franchise wanted to dance behind him while he was rapping at a club, and pulling out a 9mm and shooting five shots at a car that JUST HIT HIM outside a strip club in Indy!
Basically what I'm saying is you DO NOT want problems with Stephen Jackson.
On Wednesday morning, news of Jimmy Butler wanting to break up the BIG3 that was supposed to be him, Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins hit the internet.
Shortly after, Andrew's brother, Nick Wiggins, tweeted and deleted "Hallelujah."

Shortly after, Butler posted a workout video to his Instagram story that ended with him saying, "Hallelujah. Keep that same energy."
Coincidence, right?

Stephen Jackson also took to Instagram to mock the brothers, saying Andrew "has no heart" and Nick shouldn't even be talking since he's not in the NBA. His message ended with him saying, "Keep that same energy."

Everyone from Tracy McGrady to Paul Pierce to Terrell Owens to Fat Joe thought the video was hilarious. As expected, the brothers did not.
Here's what Andrew posted to his IG story and what Nick said in a reply to Jackson.
6.5? As I said above, Jackson was good for 20 points a game with four different teams; Andrew averaged 17.7 last season with career-highs of 20.7 and 23.6. Jackson also averaged 20 for the Warriors in the 2007 Playoffs and averaged double figures with three other Playoff teams; Andrew averaged 15.8 during the one playoff series he's been in.
As for being "special," I've never called Jackson "special" but he was one of the better defenders in the league. Not only has Andrew never been praised for his defense, some well-respected people in the NBA world have called him one of the worst defenders in the league.
Jackson responded to Nick by reminding him why he never made the league and saying, "I see your Google don't work."
Jackson then posted another video, wishing Andrew "the best" next season and ending with him hilariously saying, "I'll catch you in traffic."

The following morning, Jackson posted a video of himself driving to the gym while listening to some Bun-B. This has nothing to do with the online beef but I like to give Port Arthur's Bun B and the late Pimp C as many shout-outs as possible.
If you are interested in juicy (and probably not true) stories about the breakup up the Minny BIG 3, there are articles floating around about Jimmy Butler being the reason why KAT and his girlfriend broke up. Here's what KAT had to say about that.

And here's what Jimmy Butler is really doing at 5 AM.

]]>The post Charles Oakley and Stephen Jackson Get Into Heated Argument During Big 3 Game appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>Oversensitive media members and people in search of a perfect PC world weren't the only ones who got a little annoyed by Knicks legend (Yes, I said LEGEND) Charles Oakley this past weekend. A day after saying a lot of today's players are sensitive and some "should be wearing dresses while they play basketball" during the I Am Rapaport live podcast special with members of the Big 3 league, the Big 3 coach got into a heated argument with Stephen Jackson after Oakley took him out of one of the games.
The difference between Jackson and some of the players Oakley and Gary Payton roasted during the Podcast is Jackson didn't get his feeling hurt and he wont be crying to the media, social media, his agent and team management asking for a trade or the firing of his coach. Instead, he responded by putting up numbers (23 points and 9 boards), getting the W and praising the coach during a post-game interview (with Michael Rapaport).

As for those original "sexist" comments by the man who once slapped Charles Barkley during a NBA lockout, I asked him if he thought people were overreacting to his "wearing dresses" comment and he responded with the perfect old school Knicks response I was expecting.

]]>The post Former NBA Players Explain Why The NBA Is NOT Rigged appeared first on www.ebooksnet.com.
]]>Let's not all point our fingers at Ayesha Curry, thousands of people on social media were shouting "the NBA is rigged" after the Warriors' controversial game 6 loss last night. Thousands of others were saying the same thing when the Warriors escaped the Thunder in their last series. I also remember a lot of people saying this during last year's finals (GM1 calls in favor of LeBron?) and many other series in the past (2002 Lakers vs Kings?).
People say the NBA is rigged almost year during the NBA draft (how did Mutombo know the 76ers had the 1st pick?) going back to 1985 (Patrick Ewing and the cold envelope?).
People say it when certain trades happen (the Lakers ending up with the pick that became Magic Johnson?) or don't happen (CP3 to the Lakers?).
My best friend (a bookie) says it after every game and has given me some very hard to argue with examples over the years, if you follow the spreads.
But for every guy like my friend in Vegas, every ref like Tim Donaghy and for every talkative former player/assistant coach at a Houston bar with too many drinks in his system, there's guys like Metta World Peace and his former partner-in-crime Stephen Jackson. The Malice in the Palace vets both took to social media this morning to explain why the NBA is not rigged and why it's so disrespectful to the players to say it is.
"The refs fucked over me a lot in my career. The NBA fucked over me a lot in my career with certain judgement calls, but at the same time, the game is not rigged. Players win games. Players lose games. Just leave it at that."
https://www.instagram.com/p/BGw3UGSKw8a/
Another former player to comment on this topic is former NBA lottery pick Sharone Wright. Here's what he posted to Facebook this morning.
Memo to NBA fans: THE NBA IS NOT RIGGED. The NBA can't "rig" the game to where LeBron has 41, Golden State has just 11 points in the first quarter, Andre Igoudala's back tightens up, Harrison Barnes can't hit anything and Tristan Thompson has a double double and essentially out-hustles all of the Warriors front line.
MVPs don't often foul out, especially not in the Finals. And a couple of those calls against Steph were bad. But he also didn't help with a couple dumb ones that were his own doing.
And by the way, NBA already has cashed the check from their broadcasting partners. Doesn't matter if it's a sweep or a 7-game series, ESPN and the league's other partners have already given them their money for this season. Individual owners and cities make more money as the playoffs games continue, but that's about it.
If the league were "rigged," you'd get a New York-LA Finals every year, we would have seen Kobe v LeBron in the Finals, or every Finals would be a 7-game series.
So do you believe these guys or are you riding with angry Ayesha and believing the NBA is going out of their way to help the Cavs? I mean, it's not like the NBA would want to help Cleveland...with the exception of the 03 draft, when they landed Akron native LeBron...and 2011, when they ended up with the #1 pick after LeBron left. I'm just kidding, but if you enjoy these conspiracy theories then you will probably enjoy these videos: The Art of Rigging NBA Games.
