Markese Jacobs is one of the top incoming seniors in the Chicago Public League (Boys basketball). The Class of 2019 Uplift HS guard committed early to Kansas.
Markese spent June playing with his Uplift Titans across Chicago at various team camps. We caught up with Jacobs at the DePaul camp. Jacobs showed his incredible athleticism and range.

Kansas commit Markese Jacobs leads Chicago Uplift in City Playoffs 1st Rd!

The most exciting time of year for Chicago HS basketball fans is February's Public League tournament. It's the only time of year where you see top teams from across the city facing off. Many times teams drive over an hour in traffic to face crosstown opponents for the first time.
After going 10-0 in conference play, Chicago Uplift is the North's number 1 seed and have earned home court. Their first round opponent was Urban Prep Englewood from the South Side. Led by 22 points from versatile, athletic Jayden Gasby, U.P. Englewood made the game close until the final buzzer with host Uplift holding on to win 55-52 and advance to round 2.
2 of the city's most electrifying players, the Jacobs brothers led Uplift as they have all season. Kansas commit, sophomore PG Markese Jacobs led Uplift with 17 points. Senior Demarius Jacobs (SIU commit) and sophomore transfer Deion Jackson added 13 points.
Next up Uplift hosts the Farragut Admirals from the city's Red West division.
Ballislife will continue following Uplift and the Jacobs brothers in their quest to win a Chicago city title and Illinois 2A state title.

Underrated Chicago Guard Demarius Jacobs Wins Thriller! Full Highlights

Demarius Jacobs might be the best player in Chicago or even the state of Illinois that nobody's heard of. The ultra-athletic SIU commit has led Uplift (small Chicago northside public school) to prominence over his high school career.
His steal and game winner (15 points) at Lincoln Park HS gave Uplift a perfect 10-0 record to capture Red North conference title (highest division). They move to 20-4 overall, headling into postseason play.
While Chicago's media focuses on stronger conferences (South, West) and bigger schools (suburbs), Jacobs has quietly been putting up Chicago-area Player of the Year type numbers.
The Northside crowd was on fire all night with the tiny gym reaching capacity an hour before tipoff of the varsity game.
While Demarius' younger brother and backcourt teammate Markese Jacobs received loads of attention with his commitment to Kansas over the summer, it's been Demarius who's led Uplift in scoring, rebounds and blocks in nearly every single game this season.
The other unsung hero for Uplift all season (in addition to Demarius) has been 6'5 junkyard dog (and shooter) Toraze Dobbs. Putting up big numbers all season, 2018 Dobbs scored 24 points to go with 12 rebounds vs Lincoln Park. Unstoppable down low, he was arguably the difference in the game.
2017 Hamza Gocobija (17 points) and transfer Bryce McGill (11 points) led host Lincoln Park and PG Marco flashed some nice ball-handling moves all game.

Athletic 15 Year Old PG Markese Jacobs Puts On A Show in Chicago! Official Ballislife Mixtape

Markese Jacobs might still be under the radar in his hometown of Chicago, but he's already earned his nickname "THE SHOW"! 15 year old, 5'9 athletic point guard Jacobs just finished his freshman year at Uplift Community High School, a small public school on the city's north side. Uplift won a small school Illinois boys basketball state title in recent years, but the team still doesn't receive much coverage or publicity in a city which loves its high school hoops. The major sneaker-sponsored powerhouses grab nearly all the headlines so when we saw Markese in AAU action as an 8th grader for Chicago Select, we made time to catch Uplift in action and Markese didn't disappoint. Jacobs averaged 18 points per game for the season lightning things up from three point land and utilizing his quickness and reported 40 inch vertical to throw down fast break dunks.
At the time of filming Markese has flown under the radar (of media, scouts and colleges), but we expect that to change quickly!
Ballislife will be sure to continue following Markese Jacobs' journey through high school. He's currently playing AAU with Mac Irvin Fire 15U.
