There are two prime time games on the NBA Slate for tonight. The Milwaukee Bucks (24-10, 8-7 away) will matchup against the San Antonio Spurs (5-28, 2-14 home) on the road tonight. With tip off at 10 p.m. ET, the Golden State Warriors (16-17, 10-8 home) will host the Denver Nuggets (24-11, 10-8 away) at home. ?In this article, I've provided my best picks for tonight. If you're looking to bet on the NBA, both games will air on TNT, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. With these picks, you can group them into a parlay, or take them as straight bets. ?Here you will find the NBA betting odds, stats, trends, player prop bets, and predictions for Thursday, Jan. 4.

Milwaukee Bucks (-9) (-420) @ San Antonio Spurs (+330): O/U 247.5
Nuggets (-3.5) @ Warriors (+142): O/U 235.8

NBA Bet #1 Milwaukee Bucks -9

(Photo by Juan Ocampo/NBAE via Getty Images)

The Milwaukee Bucks will face the San Antonio Spurs on the road tonight. Coming off a 142-130 loss against the Indiana Pacers, the Bucks will play their second consecutive game. For the Spurs, they are coming off three straight losses, against the Grizzlies, Celtics, and Trail Blazers.

2-8 in their last ten games, the Spurs have just two home victories, and racked up only two wins since the beginning of November. With victories over the Lakers and Trail Blazers, the Spurs continue to go through it.

With that said, the Milwaukee Bucks are 24-10, and 1st in the Central Division. However, they're coming off two straight losses against the Indiana Pacers, and haven't quite found their stride defensively and with chemistry. While Kendrick Perkins recently stated not many people are fearing the deer, he's not exactly wrong. 7-3 in their last ten matchups, the Bucks are cold, winning just two of the last five games.

While the Bucks are 15-18-1 against the spread, the Spurs have a record of 13-20-0. Both teams not great at covering spreads, Milwaukee is 1-0 against San Antonio, winning the last two meetings. Having most recently met on Dec. 19, the Bucks carried away the 132- 119 victory over the Spurs, in which San Antonio covered the 16.5 underdog spread. Winning the last two matchups by more than nine points, I will take that spread tonight. Over the last two games, Milwaukee has a 24.5 point differential, which is almost 15 points high than what the spread is at tonight.

This is a must win for Milwaukee

Tonight is a must win for Milwaukee, especially coming off those loses. They face a Spurs team, who's averaging under 100 points in the last few matchups against the Grizzlies and Celtics. While the public has heavily scrutinized the Detroit Pistons, the San Antonio Spurs have equally been a disaster this season.

Through 33 games played, the Spurs rank near last in offensive efficiency (107.1), and 25th in defensive rating (118.7). Allowing close to 123 opponent points per game, San Antonio is atrocious at defending the perimeter, and allow teams to shoot 49 percent from the field. Even with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs surrender 46.8 rebounds per game, which is second to last, next to Washington.

San Antonio has growing pains

Unfortunately, the statistics don't lie, and things don't get much better for the Spurs on the offensive end. One of the worst three-point shooting squads, they put up a low 110 points per game. Only shooting 45 percent as a squad, they also turn the ball over 15 times a game, which is a high rate.

While defense has been a problem for Milwaukee, they still remain one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, ranking third overall in offensive rating. With Lillard still adjusting to his new team, there have been some inconsistencies. With Giannis a nightly double-double machine, these two teams truly don't compare on paper. For the Spurs to cover, the Bucks would have to collapse, and choose to sit out their main players.

If you're betting on the NBA, my best pick is for Milwaukee to cover the spread tonight. 5-5 against the spread in their last ten games, they are averaging more than 10 points more per game than the Spurs. Averaging 128 points over the last ten games, the Spurs only average 114. While San Antonio head coach Greg Popovich is well respected, the Spurs are one of the youngest teams in the league (24 years). With the Spurs continue to display growing pains, the Bucks average 124.4 points on the road.

The Spurs average around seven points more per game at home, however, I can't see them covering the spread tonight.

NBA Bet # 2: Jamal Murray 20 + Points

Season Stats?PPG:?19.7 |?FG:?46.9 %?| 3 PT:?34.6 %?| FT:?88.7 %?| REB:?3.9 ?| AST: 6.2?| STL:?0.9?| BLK:?0.8

If there's any NBA betting prop I love tonight, It's Jamal Murray to have 20+ points scored against the Golden State Warriors. Averaging 19.7 points, Murray is putting up 21 points on 45.8 percent three-point, and 47.9 percent field goal shooting over a stretch of ten games. Murray, now in his seventh season with the Nuggets, is averaging a career-highs from the three-point line.

Back from injury, Murray hit 20 + points in 53 percent of games this season. However, he's been more consistent as of late, nailing this prop in the last seven of eight games. Coming off a 25 point performance against the Charlotte Hornets, Murray hit over 20 points in nine of twelve games in the month of December.

Statistics courtesy of Propsdotcash. Graph above shows the stat line for Murray over the last ten games.

Despite playing just 21 games this season, the former Wildcat is fourth in field goal attempts, behind Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and Reggie Jackson. Second in points per game scored for the Nuggets this season, Murray leads Denver in field goal attempts with 163 over the last 10 games. While Porter Jr. is an important contributor of this team, Murray and Jokic remain the heavy hitters in terms of points scored.

Speaking of Jokic, he's been taking a back seat the last couple of games, scoring just 13 points against Charlotte, and 19 points against Oklahoma City. With the Joker distributing the ball more and dominating on the boards, it's left Murray with exceptional volume shooting.

In one game against the Warriors, Murray is averaging 28 points on 60 percent shooting from downtown, and 55.6 percent from the field. With Chris Paul returning to the lineup, Murray should have both matchups against him and Steph Curry.

Murray's been consistent

If you're betting on the NBA, I love this prop for a multitude of reasons. Not only has Murray been on of their most consistent scorers, he's averaging 29 points per game in the last three meetings against Golden State. In fact, dating back to Feb. 2023, the guard hasn't scored less than 26 points against the Bay.

Averaging 16.3 field goal attempts in the last 10 games, Murray is coming off a five three-pointer night. Playing around 30 minutes through the month of December, it's safe to say the volume and minutes are there for him to hit this prop tonight.

Statistics courtesy of Propsdotcash. In the graph above, Jamal Murray over prop hit percentage is 100 % versus the Warriors.

Although they will be in the Bay Area, Murray hit this prop in four straight road games, including 32 points against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 22. A 77 percent hit rate in the last 15 road games, he faces the Warriors, who allow the 20th most points (116.3) in the NBA. While Golden State has put together several starting lineups, they've actually improved with perimeter defending. Besides that, they rank 19th in field goal attempts, and 18th in three-point attempts per game.

Why I like this prop tonight

Most recently, this is a Warriors team that's allowed guards to ball out. In the month of December, Tyler Herro, Anfernee Simons, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Jordan Poole, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cam Thomas, James Harden, Devil Booker, Norman Powell, among others all scored over 20 points. Coming off two days rest, Murray hit this prop in four of five games, and 11 of the last 15.

With the line originally at 22.5 points scored, Murray hit that through six games, and he is often overlooked by Jokic. While Denver expressed they play to win, and not for stats, Murray should hit this prop tonight. Able to score from anywhere on the court, Murray is averaging 21 points in the last 5 matchups. Given this is a primetime matchup on TNT, expect this to be a intense matchup tonight.

NBA Bet #3 Jonathan Kuminga O 3.5 Rebounds

Season Stats?PPG:?12.7 |?FG:?50.2 %?| 3 PT:?28.4 %?| FT:?67.8 %?| REB:?4.1 ?| AST: 1.3?| STL:?0.6?| BLK:?0.3

In his third season with the Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga is averaging career highs in points , minutes, and rebounds. With Draymond Green out due to a suspension, the forward has taken advantage of playing time, starting 11 of 32 games played this season. In fact, his 19 point, two block, four assist, and six rebound performance against the Magic left head coach Steve Kerr impressed.

Statistics courtesy of Propsdotcash.

Praised for his ability to play on both sides of the ball, at 6 foot 7, Kuminga is averaging 14.5 points and 5.5 in his last ten games. More impressive, he had 12 boards against OKC this month, including nine against the Dallas Mavericks. While he's certainly earned more minutes as a member of the Warriors moving forward, he's made important strides this season in becoming a two-way player.

With the line moved to 3.5, Kuminga hit over the prop total 54 percent this season. While getting more starts of recent, the third year forward grabbed over 3.5 boards in 12 straight games, and 100 percent in the last 10. With the Warriors at home tonight, he's hit his rebound props in seven consecutive games at the Chase Center, and in 80 percent of the last ten. With an average of 5.8 rebounds in the last seven games, I'm even confident taking the 4.5. Over the last ten games, he hasn't grabbed anything less than four volumes. That right there speaks volume, especially against a Denver team that isn't great defensively against power forwards.

Statistics courtesy of Propsdotcash. The graph above shows the trends over the last ten home games.

He's been impactful for the Warriors

If you're betting on the NBA, Kuminga has made an impact, especially with Draymond Green away from the team. While there isn't a set date for Green to return, I will continue to ride these props. Tonight, the Warriors get the Nuggets, who rank 12th overall in rebounds (43), 11th in offensive boards, and 18th in defensive rebounds.

While Jokic is a presence down below, the Nuggets allowed P.J. Washington, Jaylin Williams, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Dario Saric to all hit over 3.5 rebounds over the last few weeks. With a 60 percent hit rate in five games against the Nuggets, Kuminga hasn't had a problem on the glass against Denver. Able to hit over 3.5 rebounds in two straight games against the Nuggets, the forward has a combined nine rebounds.

Ranked as the second best rebounding team (46.9) behind the Boston Celtics, the Warriors will heavily rely on a mix of their starting lineup for boards. While Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. are also great rebounders, I truly believe 3.5 is a low line for Kuminga.

Coming off one day of rest, Kuminga has been spectacular on the boards of late, grabbing over 3.5 in five of six games, including those 12 against the Thunder. Able to clear 5+ rebounds in five straight games, he also has an average of 10.6 rebound chances over those last five matchups.

Draymond Green suspended indefinitely by the NBA

PHOENIX, ARIZONA - DECEMBER 12: Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors reacts after being ejected for a flagrant foul during the second half of the NBA game against the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center on December 12, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. The league has seen enough, and so have the players, the fans, referees, and myself. Basketball is rather a physical sport, but this has gone on way too long. To be fair, Draymond Green has no one to blame but himself.

A 4x NBA Champion, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is known for his defensive prowess and playmaking. While he's future Hall of Fame candidate, No. 23 has been subject to controversy his entire career. Tuesday night. Green struck Jusuf Nurki? in a matchup against the Phoenix Suns after the two were at battle for their positions. After receiving a Flagrant foul 2, Green was then ejected from the game.

And then came the breaking news that sent shockwaves across the basketball world. The NBA suspended Draymond Green indefinitely. While we don't know for how long, it was the best course of action. In this case, it will give Green the time to receive proper help and treatment for his actions on and off the court.

This is his second suspension of the year

https://twitter.com/jxyyswrld/status/1735277404812190180/video/1

Earning his third ejection of the 2023-2024 season, Green has lost control of his anger and temper in several instances. While he's vital to the Warriors success, it cannot come at the expense of volatile acts on other players. This incident comes less than a month since he was suspended five games for putting Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert into a headlock. The 33 year old now has 19 cumulative career ejections, the second most behind Rasheed Wallace, who had 29.

From a full blown fight with Bradley Beal in 2017, Green has also gotten into altercations with with refs on numerous occasions. Unable to keep his cool, the forward received his first career postseason ejection against the Memphis Grizzlies in 2022. One his most notorious ejections came with the stomping on Kings Domantas Sabonis in the playoffs last year. Off the court, we've seen him get into full on fights with ex-teammate Jordan Poole via leaked videos online.

Rather than attacking Draymond, the news has come from a place of concern, and the league has finally put their foot down. Handed down by NBA executive Joe Dumars, the NBA has issued Green a rare, yet very necessary suspension. While the games missed are undetermined, the NBA stated in a press release that the suspension will begin immediately.

The last time the league has seen in indefinite suspension was in 2010 when former Wizards player Gilbert Arenas brought a firearm into the team building. From then on, former NBA Commissioner David Stern handed him an indefinite suspension. In fact, his NBA career was never the same, and shortly dwindled out a few years later.

The NBA release a PR statement on Draymond Green

For Draymond, he will be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play, stated in an NBA press release. Per the league, 'this outcome takes into account Green's repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.'

Post game, Green stated he didn't intended to hit Nurki? in the face. Intending to sell the call, he was clear he was not going to apologize for the incident.

"I sell calls with my arms, so I was selling the call, and I swung and unfortunately I hit him, " Green said post game on Tuesday.

With the Warriors at 10-13, they have lost two games in a row, and will be without one of their best defensive playmakers. Although his future in unknown in Golden State, he's been nothing but a distraction for the team. In a very competitive Western Conference, the Warriors are 3-5 without Green in matchups.

Former teammate Kevin Durant shared his thoughts on the incident. For Durant, he's now a member of the Phoenix Suns, and won two Championships with Green and the Warriors in 2017 and 2018.

"It was insane to see," Durant told the media. "Glad Nurk [Nurki?] is all right. Never seen that before in a basketball court in an NBA game. I hope Draymond gets the help he needs--It's been incident after incident. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs to get back on the court and put all this stuff behind him."

For Durant, he insisted Green wasn't that way around him and when he entered the league.

Represented by Rich Paul, of Klutch Sports Group, Green has earned up to $2,239,780 in finals over 11 year career. Due to earn $22,321,429 this season, the Warriors forward signed a 4-year $100 million contract in July.

While I like Draymond and his competitive spirit, the violence simply has to stop. More news on Draymond Green to come.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, along with Warriors Owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, announced the Golden State Warriors are granted an expansion team. Commissioner Engelbert confirmed there will be a 14th WNBA team in 2025.

SAN FRANSISCO — On Thursday Afternoon, the WNBA officially announced they will grant the Golden State Warriors an expansion team, starting in 2025. Several members of the media were in attendance, including Warriors Owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, Brandon Schneider, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, and Mayor London Breed. Tara VanDerveer, the winningest coach in women's basketball history was also in attendance. A monumental day for the WNBA and women's sports, the league will get its thirteenth team. Although there isn't an official name for the team, this will be the WNBA's first expansion team since the Atlanta Dream in 2008.

Since being named WNBA Commissioner in 2019, Cathy Engelbert admitted there's been speculation around expansion for quite some time. Stating timing is everything, Engelbert expressed "the right time, the right moment is today. I am very pleased to announce that the WNBA is coming to the Bay Area."

After carefully considering several markets, Engelbert stuck to her structural plan, which included "three consistent pillars when evaluating the data for an expansion team." With the trajectory of increasing growth of the league, Commissioner Engelbert cares deeply about the quality of investors, along with state-of-the-art facilities for players.

First, "A team in a city that provides a platform for deep and innovative fan engagement, " said Engelbert. Second, "Has a clear path for stakeholder and franchise success." Third, the WNBA was looking for investors and a city that "could add value to the current WNBA content, media, and entertainment footprint."

The San Fransisco Bay Area is the perfect market

After a meticulous decision, the WNBA has expanded into one of the most populated areas in sports. "The San Fransisco Bay Area has proven to meet the mark and well exceed the market in each of those three areas." Engelbert said in the presser. She stated, "The Bay Area is firmly aligned with our already strong fan base of diverse and engaged basketball fans.

Engelbert strongly declared the importance of longevity and committed investors. "It's really important that you're bringing in long term owners, committed to the success, not just the team and winning championships, but to the league overall, " said the Commissioner.

One of the biggest tech markets, Engelbert stated San Fransico not having a WNBA team "didn't seem right" to her. "I think if you look at the San Fransisco Bay Area, you look at the demographics and psychographics, and you look at our current fan base here, but also nationally. "That's why I thought this market would be so great. The data proves it out, but also this ownership team, these operators, and all of the leverage off the huge success of the Golden State Warriors. "

They are the home to several winning sports organizations

With increasing NCAA popularity among women's basketball, the Bay Area is the home to six Division 1 Women's Basketball programs. Capitalizing off that success, "10 million people watched that NCAA Final Four March Madness game for the women last year." The San Fransisco Bay Area is the home to several winning franchises, which include the Golden State Warriors and San Fransisco 49ers. Led by former Quarterback Joe Montana, the 49ers have five Super Bowl Championships in franchise history. The San Fransisco Giants have three world series wins since 2010. Most impressive, Owner Joe Lacob helped end the Warriors 40-year championship drought, in which the organization has six NBA Championships in franchise history. Four of those six titles came since the 2014-2015 season.

This has always been a "dream" for Warriors owner Joe Lacob

During the press conference, Cathy Engelbert was sure to thank Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber for their "unwavering commitment and dedication." Warriors Mangement, including Brandon Schneider makes the organization a prime destination for the W. "The whole Staff here at the Golden State Warriors [Lacob Guber, Schneider] and the whole staff here at the Golden State Warriors— the core values of teamwork, integrity, and excellence makes them an ideal fit for the WNBA," said Engelbert.

Part owner of the Golden State Warriors since 2010, Joe Lacob always envisioned bringing professional sports to the Bay Area. With a history of investing in women's sports, Lacob was a founding partner in the American Basketball League, specifically the San Jose Lasers.

Joe Lacob always envisioned bringing women's basketball to the Bay Area

"There was a league called the ABL, the American Basketball League", said Lacob. " I was a founding partner of, owned a big chunk of it, and owned the San Jose Lasers. It was doing really well, and then the WNBA came in and kind of superseded us, I guess you can say, and we lost that league."

Excited to call the Bay Area home once again for women's basketball, Lacob is "fulfilling a dream" that he's always had for women's basketball. Dedicated to his venture, Lacob doubled down on his championship aspirations. "We will win a championship in the first five years," Lacob stated. "I'm telling you right now, we will win a WNBA championship in the first five years of this franchise."

Brandon Schneider, President and Chief Operating Officer for the Warriors praised ownership. He acknowledged Peter and Joe brought a championship to Golden State in the first five year of ownership. "I mean look at Joe, first thing five years, we did it once, now we're going to do it again, " said Schneider. "So, it starts with the leadership from Joe and Peter at the vision, always giving us all the resources that we need to be successful on and off the court." We're looking forward to taking what we've learned operating the Warriors over the last several years and applying that to our W team."

The Warriors have state of the art facilities

Prior to the start of the 2019-2020 season, the Golden State Warriors relocated from Oakland to the Chase Center in San Fransisco. Costing $1.4 billion to construct, the facility is the home of the Warriors, as well as occasional games for the University of San Fransisco.

"And then the arena, I mean the Chase Center, a state of the art," said Engelbert. Highlighting that she visited the area in 2020, she's "admired what this ownership team has done and what this leadership team has done."

Brandon Scheider commented on the importance of facilities and is grateful for "Dub Nation" support around the world. "Our WNBA Players need to have the best facility just like our NBA players have. We're really fortunate to have the facility in Oakland. We will have one of the best practice facilities in in the WNBA, in addition to practicing at the facility in Oakland." The front office and business will be handled and housed in Oakland.

Charter flights, along with elite practice facilities have often been a discussion amongst athletes in the WNBA. Prior to her free agency signing with the Las Vegas Aces, Candace Parker mentioned she's "never had a locker in her WNBA career." Dedicated facilities and locker rooms will remain a focal point in attracting free agents.

Haven given over $30 million to educational nonprofit organizations in Oakland, the Warriors management feel "having a WNBA team practice, headquarters there will only serve to amplify the work they are doing in the community."

The Mayor of San Fransisco is ecstatic for the expansion

In attendance this afternoon was San Fransisco Mayor London Breed.

"I don't know if anyone in this room is more excited than I am that we are finally getting a WNBA team to play in San Fransisco, to practice in Oakland," said Mayor Breed. " She was quick to point out that the area wasn't always glorious, and went through a period of desolation.

"What happened in Mission Bay, the neighborhood we are in, it used to be railroad tracks. There was a golf shooting range, and an outlet. This neighborhood was nothing," claimed the mayor. Mayor Breed credits new housing construction and the Warriors to economic and community growth. She states the "visionary leadership" is about the community, as well as the team and the fans. "It has really brought a lot of joy and a lot of life to a neighborhood once neglected. What it will do for our restaurant's, our businesses, and what it will do for San Fransisco and our economy."

The Numbers do not lie

The WNBA is growing at a rate it's never seen before. " Women's basketball in general is taking off, women's sports in general is taking off," said Lacob.

After a historic 2023 season, the WNBA had record viewership and attendance. "This is a thrilling time for the WNBA as the longest tenure women's professional sports league in the United States," said Engelbert. " We've just concluded our 27th regular season. We saw record breaking viewership, attendance, and digital engagement."

Viewership is up 21 percent in such Networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, and CBS. The W had the highest attendance in thirteen years and was the most watched season in 21 years.

The WNBA aims to add a 14th team

The WNBA is set to have a total of thirteen teams, a number the league has only seen for a total of three seasons. The playoff format works, given the top eight teams make the postseason. With that said, Commissioner Cathey Engelbert has vocalized their vision of an addition team.

"13 is a lucky number by the way, " said the W Commissioner. "Our goal, this is a team to start up in 2025. Our goal is to have 14 teams by 2025 as well. I've been traveling to difference cities. We're in discussions and continued discussions, productive conversations with several other cities." Engelbert named Sacramento, Portland, Denver Toronto, Philadelphia, and Charlotte as all potential cities.

Engelbert mentioned there have been several changes to the league since the expansion of the Atlanta Dream in 2008. With a committee, the WNBA will have an expansion draft, which the Commissioner will further address.

With two expansion teams, comes more roster spots, which is an importance for the league. One of the hardest leagues to enter, the Commissioner stated, "many of our draft picks do not make a team, even first round draft picks in some instances." The addition of two teams will add up to 24 potential roster spots, which is crucial with expanding NCAA popularity. "This is partially to give new opportunities to that next generation coming out of the NCAA system and then maybe some players that didn't make teams this year."

When asked if a name or color scheme has been chosen, Warrior's ownership stated they haven't solidified anything. "I wish I had an answer for you. We don't know yet, but we will soon. We're going to look at everything," said Lacob. The owner expressed the team will "be a reflection of the entirety of the Bay Area in some way."

Per USA TODAY Sports, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert is set to announce the WNBA will be expanding to the Bay Area on Thursday. After months of speculation, the WNBA has been cryptic on social media. An expansion team would mark the thirteenth team in the league. Perhaps there will be two cities announced for expansion.

The WNBA will expand in the Bay Area

Months after the speculation, the WNBA will announce an expansion team in the San Fransisco Bay Area, per USA TODAY Sports. Once having 16 teams, the league is down to 12. Since the inaugural season in 1997, there have been six defunct franchises, including the Charlotte Sting, Cleveland Rockers, Houston Comets, Miami Sol, Portland Fire, and the Sacramento Monarchs. In 26 years, three current franchises have relocated several times, including the Connecticut Sun, Las Vegas Aces, and the Dallas Wings. Previously the Orlando Miracle, they relocated to Connecticut in 2003. Before the Dallas Wings were the Detroit and Tulsa Shock. Before the Aces move to Las Vegas in 2018, the franchise operated as the Utah Starzz and the San Antonio Silver Stars. The WNBA has made several abstruse posts on social media, insinuating a change is near.

Two team expansion?

Prior to the matchup between the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces on August 6, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed her desire for expansion, along with the trajectory of the league's growth, and charter flights. Michael Voepel, of ESPN reports that Engelbert is aiming for a two-team expansion growth in the near future. With the increase in players and talent, having only twelve teams limits the number of roster spots. Besides the Bay Area, the WNBA has looked into the following cities for expansion: Portland, Toronto, Nashville, Charlotte, Austin, and Denver.

"Obviously, we're working very hard on expansion, " said Engelbert. "As I said, and everybody knows, this is really something I think we need to do. Not just because of opening up, you know, potentially 12-24 roster spots. We need more than 12 teams. We need to be in some big cities in this country, where our demographics and psychographic, and all our data and information shows that there's some great markets out there for WNBA Basketball."

The Golden State Warriors will be granted an expansion team in 2025

Not official, Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press has confirmed that the Golden State Warriors will be granted an expansion team in 2025. The Associated Press has reported that the WNBA Commissioner will be making an announcement in the Bay Area tomorrow.

It's evident Engelbert will only work with investors who will provide teams with adequate facilities, in addition to longevity. "?I don't want to bring an owner in this league who is going to be in the bottom quartile as it relates to player experience," she said. "They've got to be in the top quartile. In fact, they should be at the top." said Engelbert (Associated Press).

The Golden State Warriors are co-owned by Peter Guber and Joe Lacob. Since the 2014-2015 season, the Warriors won four NBA titles, recently in 2022 against the Boston Celtics. In Lacob's tenure, he ended the Warriors 40-year drought, and led Golden State to seven straight playoff appearances. In 2019, the Warriors were named "Franchise of the Decade," and will be remembered as one of the most notorious dynasties in NBA history. Peter Guber was heavily involved in the groundbreaking of the Chase Center, with a focus on family and fan experience.

The San Fransisco Bay Area seems the most logical choice for an expansion team. Aside from the warriors, the area has several sports teams with winning accomplishments. The San Fransisco Giants have three World Series wins since 2010, and the San Fransisco 49ers have won five Super Bowls in team history.

The WNBA had record viewership and attendance this season

Excited to "capitalize off NCAA popularity," the WNBA currently has media partnership deals with ESPN, ESPN2, CBS, and ABC. "There's a whole transformation of economic model for women's sports", the Commissioner told the press. "It's all about media rights. If you look back in history, and I ask you all, I'm happy to give anyone an economic lesson about how the men got their benefits and pay. It was all the multi-billion-dollar media rights fees deal, so I am very optimistic," Engelbert told the media.

The 2023 WNBA season brought record viewership and attendance. Per WNBA PR, viewership was up 21 percent this season, and attendance up 16 percent. The WNBA social media engagement was up 96 percent from 2022. The overall attendance was the highest it's been in 13 years.

The WNBA is "the longest tenured women's professional league in the country, by double any other," said Engelbert. The Atlanta Dream was the most recent expansion team, which came in 2008.

The Dallas Wings partnered with the Dallas Mavericks in early August. The expansion of the WNBA under the Golden State Warriors could be extremely beneficial to the league.

Key Players

Golden State Warriors

Steph Curry

?Steph Curry is without a doubt the leader of this Warriors team. Curry is an incredible shooter and athlete, who can shoot on and off the ball. He creates plays when needed and is the definition of a leader. In three games against the Kings this season, Curry is averaging 35.7 points per game, 6.3 rebounds, and is shooting 51.5 percent from the three-point range, and 58.7 percent from the three.

Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson

With Andrew Wiggins out, I expect Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson to step up tonight. In Poole’s three games against Sacrament, he’s averaging only 14.7 points, 2.7 assists, on 43.8 percent field goal shooting, and 42.9 three-point shooting. Klay Thompson struggled from downtown in his three games against the Kings. Although he’s averaging 13.7 points, Klay is averaging only 33.3 percent from the three-point range, and 34.1 percent from the field. Klay Thompson is a pure shooter, expect him to step up.

Sacramento Kings Bench

?The Kings COULD be without their stars tonight, PF Domantas Sabonis (Questionable- ankle), SG Kevin Huerter (Questionable- ankle soreness), SF Keegan Murray (Questionable-foot soreness), and PG De'Aaron Fox (Questionable- ankle soreness). With two games to go in the regular Season, the Kings are locked in for the playoffs.? With Malik Monk out, the Kings will get to play their bench players. Forward Trey Lyles has only played 4.3 minutes against Golden State this season.

Small Forward Kessler Edwards has not played any minutes against the Warriors this season, along with Alex Len. Forward Harrison Barnes will get a shot to play the game of his life against his former team. Davion Mitchell averages 7 points per game against Golden State this season. His best game this season came against the Hornets. Mitchell added 23 points, 4 rebounds, and shot 83.3 percent from the three-point range. If Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox play tonight, look for them to keep up their stellar numbers against the Warriors.

Key Stats

? Golden State averages 118.5 points per game during the regular season.

? Sacramento averages 121.3 points per game during the regular season.

? Golden State ranks 23rd in points allowed with 117.6 opponents points per game.

LAST 10 GAMES + GAME PREDICTION

SPREAD: Golden State

-Golden State covered the spread in 4 of their last 10 games.

-Sacramento covered the spread in 5 of their last 10 games.

-Golden State has a 37-42-1 record ATS this season.

-Sacramento has a 45-34-1 record ATS this season.

If Sacramento has most of their starters out, I expect?Golden State to cover here. However, if Sabonis and Fox suit up, I expect the Kings to cover.

MONEY LINE: Golden State ML

-Golden State won Money Line 6 out of their last 10 games

-Sacramento won Money Line 5 of their last 10 games.

?This is an important game for the Warriors. Their season is on the line, and they are fighting for the 5th or 6th seed in the Western Conference. If not, they may be placed in the play-in-tournament. If the Kings core players can suit up, I expect this to be a competitive game. Either way, I like the Warriors here.

OVER/UNDER: Over

-Golden State Avg +/- vs O/U Line: +2.46

-Sacramento Avg +/- vs O/U Line: +3.13

-Golden State Overall O/U Record: 43-34-3

-Sacramento O/U Record: 40-39-1

-Golden State hit the UNDER in 6 of their last 10 games.

-Sacramento is 5-5 for the Over/Under their last 10 games.

?Sacramento may be without their starting 5. If Sabonis, Fox, and Murray play, this will be a very competitive game. In that case, I would take over. Both teams struggle on the defensive end, and both are in the top 5 offensively.
