The Throne National Championship, a single-elimination end-of-season high school basketball tournament, is set to take place, March 29 - April 1, 2023, at Morehouse College in Atlanta. The new event has been created through a partnership between Gold Level Sports Entertainment and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

The Throne National Championship?will take place over four days and is set to feature 16 of the top boys basketball teams in the country, including some that are ranked in the FAB 50 National Team Rankings presented by www.ebooksnet.com. The goal is to crown a high school basketball national champion.

By partnering with the NBPA and THINK450, the NBPA’s business development and innovation arm, The Throne National Championship will be executed with backing of current NBPA members. The goal is to create an event, “for the players, by the players.”

"Long term our plan is for this national championship to be the biggest celebration of youth culture," Chief?Executive?of Gold Level Sports & Entertainment Darren Duncan told www.ebooksnet.com. "For the players that participate we want them to get elite competition, but also we want them to benefit from the learning and development sessions held by the NBPA."

"It’s such an incredible opportunity for the best high school teams across the country to meet on the court and put on a show,” said Harrison Barnes, NBPA Executive Committee Member, in a press release. “I’m grateful for my high school career successes which were the catalyst to my NBA career. Additionally, these athletes are fortunate to have various platforms available to build and capitalize their brands. I’m excited for them to showcase their skills, but also develop leadership and business principles."

Barnes was the 2009-10 Mr. Basketball USA honoree at Ames (Iowa) and his team finished ranked No. 10 in the FAB 50 riding a 53-game winning streak.

The inaugural event will take place NCAA Final Four weekend in Atlanta at Morehouse College, one of the nation's most prestigious historically black four-year liberal arts institutions. A goal of the event is to support the development of HBCU's by driving awareness of Morehouse's rich history as an institution of higher learning. Other important goals of the event is to help the participants develop there own personal brands and improve on various life skills through educational workshops curated by NBPA staff.
