But let\u2019s be real: It ain\u2019t a highlight reel until someone\u2019s ankles get broken.\" - Isaiah Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>We agree and have filmed quite a few ankles getting broken over the past decade. Quite a few of them came from filming the Seattle Pro-Am games over the past few summers\u00a0and many of those came courtesy of\u00a0Thomas and his friend\/Seattle native Jamal Crawford.<\/p>\n<p>Today on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theplayerstribune.com\/isaiah-thomas-celtics-nba-best-ball-handlers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Players Tribune<\/a>, Thomas got to breakdown the best ankle breakers in the league in a session of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theplayerstribune.com\/isaiah-thomas-celtics-nba-best-ball-handlers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elite Ball Handlers 101<\/a> which of course included a few paragraphs about Jamal who he calls a \"straight streetballer.\"<\/p>\n<p>Below is a supplement piece to the article with videos and quotes from Thomas.<\/p>\n<h3>JAMAL CRAWFORD<\/h3>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EraobB2OQDc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Jamal is a straight streetballer. He doesn\u2019t have a signature or go-to move. He\u2019s always doing something different depending on the situation, and he\u2019s always trying crazy new stuff. He\u2019s just so gifted that I don\u2019t think he even knows what he\u2019s going to do sometimes. He just does it, and everyone says <i>Wow\u2026<\/i>He has a combination of instinct and a crazy natural ability to control the ball.<\/p>\n<h3>STEPH CURRY<\/h3>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NapCyfehW64\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Steph plays like he\u2019s a wide receiver in football running an option route on every play. Everything he does depends on what the defender is doing. So when he\u2019s coming at you, if you\u2019re afraid of the three \u2014 which you should be \u2014 and you give him too much space, he\u2019ll knock it down. If you play too far up on the three, he\u2019ll take you off the dribble. If he beats you on the first step because you were playing too far up, say goodbye. He\u2019s already gone. If you sink back with him, he has the shiftiness and the quick release to step back and shoot.<\/p>\n<h3>CHRIS PAUL<\/h3>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ma6QKHlF4rM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Only CP3 takes a move like the Shammgod that everyone uses and throws it in between two fundamental moves like the pick-and-roll and the mid-range jumper to make them even more effective. He makes it look so easy, but it takes a lot of quickness and ball control to go off the pick, throw the ball out there on a string and pull it back with the other hand like he does. It all comes together in one long, fluid motion.<\/p>\n<h3>KYRIE IRVING<\/h3>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rZdh4gg8rSA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Kyrie lives laterally. He goes side to side at such a high level it\u2019s hard for defenders to keep up. He\u2019s right in front of you, then he\u2019s not, and it all starts with the crossover. It\u2019s the same move every point guard has in his arsenal.<\/p>\n<p>His is just better.<\/p>\n<h3>JAMES HARDEN<\/h3>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WF3hbgPcmpw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>That\u2019s why his Euro step is so effective.
