ASU-bound Jaelen House scores 29 points and adds four steals to capture tourney MVP honors.<\/strong><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/500-steals-for-jaelen-house-how-the-man-of-steal-does-it\/\">Jaelen House Reaches 500 Career Steals<\/a> |<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/60-points-jaelen-house-goes-steph-curry-mode-jovan-blacksher-klay-thompson-on-em\/\">Shadow Mountain vs. Foothills Christian game HLs<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QWbpFKSPlTA\">Jaelen House CLUTCH Steal vs. St. Augustine<\/a>&nbsp; | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uUpITvFHH30\">Jalen House Drops 34 on La Jolla Country Day<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a highly-anticipated showdown between a local club featuring a Duke-bound player and arguably the best defensive backcourt in America, the championship of the <em>Torrey Pines Holiday Classic<\/em> became anti-climatic when Mission Bay (San Diego, Calif.) just couldn't catch the breaks with the rims and the referees.<\/p>\n<p>Some of it had to do Shadow Mountain's pressure defense, as star guard <strong>Boogie Ellis<\/strong> made 2-of-7 field goal attempts in the first half, but some of it had to do with zero flow and a handful of technical fouls assessed to the Bucs in the second and third quarter that took away any momentum they could have hoped for against one of the best teams on the West Coast.<\/p>\n<div class=\"omc-video-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%; height: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ySiJohzvjmk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen width=\"600\" height=\"420\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mission Bay (7-5) trailed 25-20 with 4:58 in the second period when Grand Canyon-bound guard <strong>Jovan Blacksher<\/strong> (22 points, 2 steals) of Shadow Mountain (13-1) picked up his third foul. Moments later, ASU-bound <a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/500-steals-for-jaelen-house-how-the-man-of-steal-does-it\/\">Jaelen House<\/a>&nbsp;scored on a lay-up, picked Ellis at mid-court and went in for another lay-up and was called for a technical foul. After that sequence, the Bucs didn't score and House was fouled on another drive and all of a sudden it was 29-22. By the 2:25 mark of the second quarter, the Matadores had scored another nine unanswered points to lead 38-22 as thing began to unravel for Mission Bay in an eventual 82-62 Shadow Mountain victory.<\/p>\n<p>Late in the third period, Mission Bay's <strong>Jay Norton <\/strong>was assessed back-to-back technical fouls. Moments later, Bucs' head coach <strong>Marshawn Cherry&nbsp;<\/strong>called a timeout, mostly to voice his displeasure with what transpired, and he was assessed a technical of his own. In the commotion, Norton was never substituted out of the game, House scored on a uncontested lay-up and by that point all the drama of the outcome was evaporated. There was five technicals assessed in total, according to the official scorer's book.<\/p>\n<p>Ellis finished with 20 points, while making 14 free throws, including eight in the second half.<\/p>\n<p>House finished with a game-high 29 points, to conclude the four-game tournament averaging 30.5 ppg (122 points). House also collected four steals to average six for the tournament (24 total). For the season, House is averaging 5.57 steals per game (78 in 14 games) and is now tied for No. 9 on the all-time reported national list with&nbsp;<strong>Jamey Harrison <\/strong>of Hardin-Jefferson (Sour Lake, Texas) with 505 career steals in 101 career games (5.0 spg).<\/p>\n<p>Ellis and Blacksher were named to the Torrey Pines Classic all-tournament team and House was named Most Valuable Player.
