In a highly-anticipated showdown between a local club featuring a Duke-bound player and arguably the best defensive backcourt in America, the championship of the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic became anti-climatic when Mission Bay (San Diego, Calif.) just couldn't catch the breaks with the rims and the referees.

Some of it had to do Shadow Mountain's pressure defense, as star guard Boogie Ellis made 2-of-7 field goal attempts in the first half, but some of it had to do with zero flow and a handful of technical fouls assessed to the Bucs in the second and third quarter that took away any momentum they could have hoped for against one of the best teams on the West Coast.
