{"id":98237,"date":"2015-02-25T16:38:33","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T16:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bilcomprd.wpengine.com\/?p=98237"},"modified":"2023-12-29T08:35:49","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T16:35:49","slug":"lebron-james-thinks-its-crazy-that-colleges-are-already-offering-his-10-year-old-son-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/lebron-james-thinks-its-crazy-that-colleges-are-already-offering-his-10-year-old-son-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"LeBron James thinks it's crazy that colleges are already offering his 10 year old son scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We get a lot of criticism for just showing and promoting mixtapes of young kids like <a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/4th-grade-basketball-phenom-mike-miles-the-point-guard-prodigy\/\">Mike Miles in 4th grade<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/chase-adams-7th-grade\/\">Chase Adams in 7th grade<\/a> and more recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ballislife.com\/10yo-lebron-james-jr-wins-championship-at-john-lucas-all-star-weekend-event\/\">10 year old LeBron James Jr<\/a>.\u00a0I understand where that criticism is coming from and respect those\u00a0opinions, especially since I'm a father of a couple of kids who play sports, but I personally don't have an issue with profiling an exceptional\u00a0child athlete, or a child movie star or a child genius, who is doing something special at their\u00a0age. What I do have a problem with and think is ridiculous are colleges who are willing to offer full-ride scholarships to these child athletes. LeBron James senior seems to be in agreement as he spoke to the media before the Cavs\/Pistons game about 10 year old Bronny getting offers.<\/p>\n<p>Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/ohio\/story\/lebron-james-son-bronny-lebron-james-jr-college-offers-scholarships-022415\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FoxSports<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\"Yeah, he's already got some offers from colleges,\" James told the media during Cavaliers\u00a0shoot-around prior Tuesday's game against the Pistons. \"It's pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn't be recruiting 10-year-old kids.\"<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Bronny hasn't even reached middle school yet, but he's already shown flashes of greatness -- flashes that remind James of himself at that age.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\"He plays just like I did,\" James said. \"He has great awareness, and he'd rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score.\"<\/p>\n<p>I still remember the time when unless you were a man-child like Shawn Kemp or Kevin Garnett, a standout high school player wouldn't even get a scholarship during his junior year. \u00a0Now these financial institutions (i'm still waiting for crash similar to housing bubble) are willing to give a free ride to kids who haven't even hit
